It’s important to preface these remarks with something along the lines of, ‘it was only a friendly and we must not read too much into anything’ and such sentiments.

If we learned anything (beyond don’t bother doing this sort of thing it’s colossal waste of everybody’s time) then it was that the gulf between our best XI and ‘everyone else’ is immeasurable.

Oh, and that our IKEA uniform inspired

Overall, expectations about our youth prospects need to be heavily managed.

Bar Erik Lamela, none of the players we saw today are Premier League match day squad standard.

Who knows what the future holds for any of them, but for this coming season, forget about it.

Please, forget about it.

Edwards looks horribly like the new Lennon. Squeamishly simple mistakes from Ball. Winks was a bit wonky.

I really do not see any merit in exposing players at this level to so much public scrutiny.

Neither Chadli or Son looked in the same bracket as Lamela which was the most worrying aspect the entire game.

Wanyama looks like he’s on loan from Colchester United.

Janssen looked woefully off the pace, but then the game was so disjointed, who knows?

All in all that was an utterly unconvincing and sloppy affair against a marginally less awful than us Juventus.
