The Sun ran a piece recently claiming they were withholding the identity of a gay Premier League footballer who was in a state of ‘anguish’ about their private life.

The Daily Star are the latest in on the act with a more convoluted scenario involving blackmail.

It’s my considered opinion that a man’s sexuality is about as fascinating as equally weighty matters such as whether he opts either red or brown sauce on his sausage sandwich of a morning.

The game has been increasingly hijacked in general over the past few seasons by all manner of business that fundamentally has nothing do with football.

Those seeking meaningful change will not achieve it waving flags at middle aged men who were brought up on Alf Garnett, On The Buses and Rising Damp.

Genuine awareness and a natural diversity need to be addressed long before 3pm on a Saturday afternoon.

But do schools and Universities full of enquiring minds offer the same virtual signalling opportunities as a social media platform?

One can only presume there are gay players (using the law of averages) in many Premier League squads including our very own and I contend the best way to deal with bigots at a football match is to ask a policeman.

This is whole business ids disingenuous on both sides and it is publicity that the men in question neither need nor seek.

I appreciate this entire piece will be a trigger for social justice warriors and it would serve them well to watch the video in full.

So Liverpool are away to a flyer. This despite having the CL final just three days ago. Meanwhile the Tottenham transfer committee do what exactly? Relax on the beach?

    • Accy May 29, 2018 at 10:44 am

What I’ve read elsewhere is that we have to wait for the big boys to do their business first, before we can deal with the agents and hoover up the second and third choices from the big boys transfer lists.

This is contrast to Poch saying he wanted to do business early this year. Well, early, could be after the world cup.

      Best put the kettle on.

      • gloster1861 May 29, 2018 at 11:09 am

But this is what we do every summer. What’s changed apart from MoPo having a bumper pay rise?

  • Accy May 29, 2018 at 10:22 am

    TheCincinnatiYid
Pool is strengthening already. We are re-signing Winks, CCV, KWP. Same old same old. Back to bed. See ya later Yids!

Yep. Signing players who already play for us is about as exciting as a rain cloud. Does my head in.

    • gloster1861 May 29, 2018 at 10:24 am

We enticed Lucas Moura with our facilities and the Lodge.

But since when have we been running another Ragley Hall Spa, wedding venue and conference centre? Or worse, a luxury retirement home for pampered footballers?

      • gloster1861 May 29, 2018 at 10:27 am

        *Ragdale

      • Harry Hotspur May 29, 2018 at 10:33 am

THFC seem to believe that having household names coming to stay is somehow impressing us.

If ‘us’ were a 10 year old boy, they might be onto something.

        • gloster1861 May 29, 2018 at 10:36 am

Daniel ought to have included a fecking amusement park in the grounds. Some whirley tea cups and a helter skelter.

          • Accy May 29, 2018 at 10:40 am

I think ‘Catch-a-Rat’ where a bunch of socks inside another sock is dropped from a height through an old piece of drainpipe suspended on a wooden easel, with a rounders bat to try and hit it as it exits the pipe, would have been THE pinnacle of any fete held at Hotspur Way. THAT would get the star players to sit up and take notice of us.

            Not log fires.

  • gloster1861 May 29, 2018 at 10:07 am

Could the problem be that Pochettino issued his ‘back me or I walk’ message at the final press conference and not months ago? That he isn’t interested in just picking up factory reject seconds anymore.

It is said that you need to be working on transfers right through the season (or longer) and the summer window is there to finalise them. So what chance have we got to get our act together when dear Daniel and Steve Hitchen were bumbling along business usual until MoPo hurled his grenade into the boardroom a mere fortnight ago?

    • gloster1861 May 29, 2018 at 10:08 am

      *business as usual

  • Lilywhite without the II May 29, 2018 at 9:04 am

“We have signed a fantastic player, but someone who is an equally fantastic person I think,” added Klopp.

“His reputation as a character in the dressing room and his attitude in training has come through from everyone we speak to.

“He has a lovely family also – adding a person like this to our dressing room only makes us even stronger. What we have – in terms of our environment at Melwood and in the team – means anyone coming in must be of that build. They must be the highest quality person and player.”

This from Klopp but you could argue it could of come from Poch, any reason we couldn’t of signed him to replace Mouse or Mouse?

    • OrganicPaper May 29, 2018 at 9:05 am

Im very disappointed we were not in the running for him. Great player, exactly what we need too.

      • Lilywhite without the II May 29, 2018 at 9:10 am

Yep…Liverpool “out of the block” already and Danial is still cleaning the fixtures and fittings of his new lodge to make sure he gets 5 star and thumps up ratings!!

      • Harry Hotspur May 29, 2018 at 9:26 am

Not in the running is one thing – blissfully unaware might be another.

Don’t forget chaps, we have the worlds worst scouts.

Shy of Spurs hiring me and Dilly, I’m not sure there could be worse operation.

        • gloster1861 May 29, 2018 at 10:09 am

Tim Sherwood and a guide dog for the blind maybe?

          • Harry Hotspur May 29, 2018 at 10:20 am

Whilst I have no evidence to support my fears, I wouldn’t leave any animal alone with that man.

            ‘Er lads, watch this…’

            • gloster1861 May 29, 2018 at 10:32 am

Was Timmy in the Bullingdon Club with Cameron, Osborne and Boris?

    • Harry Hotspur May 29, 2018 at 9:08 am

      Because we’re not run properly.

I think you’ll find that is the correct answer.

      What have I won?!

      • Lilywhite without the II May 29, 2018 at 9:12 am

    • Camus May 29, 2018 at 9:13 am

It’s actually almost as though he’s stolen that quote from Poch…

    • paul May 29, 2018 at 9:17 am

We have signed a fantastic player..

      i stopped reading after that

Get in, Lucas signed for us for the “facilities”, job well done Levy, job well done….😩

  • paul May 29, 2018 at 8:54 am

Monster to monster, 99.99% of the populato live their lives developing and steering an inauthentic amalgam persona that they lack the wit or desire to ever question. May as well scream at the sky for being blue, that’s what i do.

  • Flynnbob May 29, 2018 at 8:26 am

Who cares about this former England No1 and ex City player !!

    • Tappaspur May 29, 2018 at 8:28 am

Is that coming from the hart? 🙂

    • paul May 29, 2018 at 8:33 am

Could be any old regular Joe, don’t know what all the fuss is about

      • paul May 29, 2018 at 8:57 am

LGBT community? Loada Garbage Bollocks & Tits. ‘The community’, at least as referenced on the telly papers curiously never seems to include undemostrative heterosexual white people

    • gloster1861 May 29, 2018 at 9:58 am

      He’s REALLY dropped the ball(s).

      I’ll get me coat…

  • OrganicPaper May 29, 2018 at 8:22 am

I had a ‘discussion’ with my missus on these lines over the weekend.
Her point was that gay sports people MUST come out to break down the barriers for other gay sports people ..etc..etc.
My point is that if done so, immediately that sports person will be defined not by their sporting achievements but by the fact they are gay. In any any case – who gives a toss.
I do not get on board with the whole ‘sports men/women are role models’ bullshit for the same reason. They are not role models or gay icons or pin ups of masculinity, they are just people who are rather good at what ever sport it is they play.

  • TheCincinnatiYid May 29, 2018 at 8:15 am

Pool is strengthening already. We are re-signing Winks, CCV, KWP. Same old same old. Back to bed. See ya later Yids!

  • Billy the yid May 29, 2018 at 8:10 am

Who gives a fuck about that???? There’s only one thing for certain. A player can be gay, bi, cross dressing whatever but if he wants more than £300 a week the rat won’t be buying him. And that ain’t a misprint with the wages. Why are we monitoring and considering when everyone else is strengthening?????

  • Caveman May 29, 2018 at 8:09 am

Isn’t it rich that in an age of equality that a gay sportsman or woman cannot reveal their sexuality for fear of being ridiculed. Some equality. Tom Daly has revealed his sexuality and ‘hey hoo’ it’s been a non event. Maybe all it takes is a brave footballer to reveal their situation and we could test the waters.

    • gloster1861 May 29, 2018 at 10:19 am

Nobody was surprised about Tom Daley, and nobody should turn a hair about anyone else either. From my own work experience I’ve noticed that it’s women who are fascinated and nosey as to whether a bloke is gay or not.

  • Camus May 29, 2018 at 8:08 am

Just catching up on a few blogs.
The hysteria will be quite something if Bale rocks up at United while we also sell them Toby…
We might need to order another couple of lorry-loads of nappies. 😁

  • Tappaspur May 29, 2018 at 8:07 am

As my dad once said “more gay men means more girls for us” happy Tuesday peeps.

  • TheCincinnatiYid May 29, 2018 at 8:03 am

Could not agree with you more H. Don’t care what lads and lasses or lads and lads or lasses and lasses do in their spare time at their own facilities—it has naught to do with football.

  • Gus May 29, 2018 at 8:00 am

    Fisted!

    • Rich g May 29, 2018 at 8:28 am

      Inappropriate ,given the subject😂
