Our man Pochettino has led Spurs to top-three Premier League finishes in each of the last three seasons – while his brand of attacking football has earned plenty of admirers both in this country and on the continent.
The Argentinian is the favourite to be appointed the full-time successor to Jose Mourinho in the summer although Solskjaer, who is in caretaker charge until the end of the season, has made an encouraging case for retention.
The Norwegian has equalled Sir Matt Busby’s record in winning his first five fixtures at the helm of United and he could further his cause when he pits his wits against Pochettino and Tottenham this weekend.
Assessing his potential rival, Solskjaer said:
PA Sport
“He has done a very good job. That speculation is there for a reason – because he has done well.
“But it’s not my job to rate managers, my focus is on me and my team.”
Solskjaer rejected the consensus that Sunday’s showdown at Wembley marks the first acid test of his reign.
United have seen off Cardiff, Huddersfield, Bournemouth and Newcastle – all of whom are in the bottom half of the table – in the league while they defeated Reading in the FA Cup last weekend to extend Solskjaer’s perfect start.
Solskjaer said: “No we have had tests, Newcastle away is a test and first game how everyone reacted is a test, first home game with the crowd is a test, every single game you get tested.
“But this is against top, top side. If we want to go closer and get past them we need a good performance and a good result.”
Indeed, United have had what one could only call a fortuitous run – and Jose Mourinho won’t be blushing until the Red Devils actually achieve something with the squad that vexed him.
Never much one for conspiracy theories when IMO nothing wrong with Mike Dean. Good Ref.
Except Spurs wull not be invited to the Super League. Arsenal is.
Best thing we can do is win some trophies and keep Arsenal and Manure out of the top 4, before they split European football and kick us to the kerb with the “rest of”
I don’t think 1 loss will reduce his stock. I think there is only room for a win.
They solve everything with their silly super league and we can go back to real football again. The more they bastardise it the less people will care…what made it a target for commodity in the first place will be gone…..but then, that’s why they’re building a new fan base of zombie lunatics. No shouting, no hurting, no no non no
they will never ditch the EFL to benefit the PL. They are 2 different companies. the best way to reduce pressure on the teams over Christmas is to reduce the EPL, short of that the option is to scrap all replays of FA/EFL (which harks back to first issue) or simply double up games early in the season. Personally I would like to see a reduction in international breaks.
He is just so fucking slow, but I get your point and know his quality at times. We are back to square one though, buying proper backup to challenge Kane. Dele is being experimented deeper (which I don’t like for him), and would hate us to bench him in favour of Llorente. They both miss the mark at times, but I think Dele adds plenty more.
The CL is worth so much money, it seems stupid to the money men to handicap English clubs with Christmas games. Lift that coefficient, protect the collective gravy train.
I suggest getting rid of the EFL would suffice.
Great minds, and all that
Disagree as seen enough in underused Llorente to suggest he deserves to vie with Alli for a regular start for his hold up play but if deemed surplus to requirements he will be sold in Jan.
Let’s hope he loses this one then!
(Just kidding) 👍💙💙💙
Whoah….I came back the exact second you replyed….
With injuries taking it’s toll nothing wrong Andy Murray showing emotion in public acknowledging that his great career is shortly coming to an end.
Whether you like him or loathe him Murray won major trophies combining his obvious talents with dedication to the sport – his determination to originally overcome finals defeats by wining major trophies – his devoted mother and last but not least enormous credit goes to his relationship formed with his special ex coach, the ironman Ivan Lendl’s punishing training regime plus backroom staff taking him to another level maximising his obvious potential to become a superstar and number one tennis player in the world.
I spose it may as well be
*damages
Still the fak wits at the bullshit corporation will wheel him out every June.
Llorente should be sold. Would rather play Sissoko as striker than him
It’s just not cricket
His last game is meant to be against Man Utd. He is missing Sth Koreas first 2 pool games
You mean Lloris to score their 2
Dean has never been in our favour, especially over united. From what I can find his has Reff’d 64 games for both teams, United have won 35 but Spurs only 29 with Spurs being booked more often. I cant find a head to head. only thing to suggest he is ever in our favour is the “celebration” in the NLd which is clearly not a celebration.
Reckon it’ll be 2-2 with Pogba scoring both of theirs…
I thought Son departs after the Man Utd match?
Poch has a difficult decision to make. Beat Utd and see his stock rise at OT or lose and see his chances of taking the helm at Utd diminishing
United are more dangerous on the front foot than they ever were with Jose. At the back though they are still vulnerable.
Bielsa in the news again. Poch defending him. If poch would leave………bielsa to replace?? Honestly sounds better then eddy howe.
Bet dele cant wait to ave it with pogba. Dont think deles not a nutter anymore. That s h I t dormant. like Dudleys on a lip can turn up anytime. Hopefully deles lip is tingling now:-) 🙂 🙂

Article abit over publicizing the manu rumors. But dont like poch telling the story of routing for manu as a neutral.( maybe just showing respect for the current manager). I guess the paranoia is starting to settle in. I’m off to find my meds
We believe we’re good enough to win league’ – Winks on Spurs title hopes
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/46842941
Spurs midfielder Harry Winks says his side have proven they are good enough to win the Premier League this year, but admits important points have been lost in matches they should have won.
Is it a coincidence the same time the some American mental health association comes out with a toxic unfounded report about how masculinity damaging kids growing up Andy Murray comes out and cries on camera and the media fall about cooing how amazing it was?….i was never a blokeish, masculine type now or as a kid but this agenda is insidious.
will struggle sunday, i think we are running on empty
KWP yes, Trippier is pants defensively Llorente no
Along with the VAR bollox I can’t believe we are going in for this January break nonsense. Looked at the friendly fixtures for the last week or 2, they’ve ALL been playing each other around Europe. Total waste….and our clubs will do exactly the same. Load of balls all of it. Next season football in this country finally dies.
I would certainly select KWP to the lineup and possibly play Llorente (over Alli?) to hold the ball up and provide an aerial threat. Needless to say it wont happen but I have said it!
Well with Son gone , it’s again only Harry that is a consistent goal scorer so Alli Eriksen Lamela Moura etc need to step up and fill the void.
We looked out on our feet second half Vs Chelsea think we’re gonna struggle with Utd
Utd’s upturn in fortune has certainly been timed with a run of very winnable games. However they are far more proactive now compared to their play under Mourinho’s stifling tactics. They are still vulnerable at the back and we need to produce the sort of performance that saw us beat Chelski before Christmas. That means a big improvement on Tuesday’s match, are we going to be mentally up for it?
I doubt it will happen, but I’d like to see Gazzaniga continue in goal,Lloris needs a rest.I think this is the last game for Son before he leaves for the Asian Games.
Watched United vs Newcastle and nothing had changed – took a lucky mistake from the oppo keeper to get their noses in front in the second half. I thought the toon were the better side up to that point, they just have careless forwards who aren’t really prem standard finishers.
We are three times the side they are…but there is the capacity to screw this one up, sure. Pogba is a player who can score from nothing.
United in pomp are always hard to beat. they have good players, they looked bad because Jose tried to build a defensive unit with offensive players. For me, I see a draw at best as if we over commit they will score, but same goes the other way, they still need to CB’s.
United fans are already moaning about the referee appointed for the game. Mike Dean is apparently a Spurs fan but he’s actually a Tranmere Rovers fan. So who’s team just stuffed his team 7-0 in the FA Cup? Mike might be having a conflict of loyalty over revenge then.
It’s going to be very difficult to best Manure this Sunday. They are in the middle of the OGS rebound love-in reaction, with a number of players rejuvenated and have built up some momentum. The pressure is also largely off them whereas it is very much on us and we have to lift ourselves (tactically and energy wise) after Cheatski. This is going to be a very very difficult match and one which if they get their noses in front i think we’ll struggle to come back from. I’d like to see us on it at a high level in all departments from minute one. Not a forgone conclusion by any means this one (but then again i never thought Wolves were either). COYS!
