Forensic Player Analysis v Chelsea

By The Boy -
My thanks to the superb Forensic Onions

Gazzaniga – I don’t think he was terribly at fault for the first, he’s unsighted by three players, the third of whom deflect it slightly.

Aurier – Apart from struggling with Hazard all night, which many will do to be fair, everything else was just piss poor, poor decisions on the ball, gave it away carelessly, positioning suspect, offered nothing offensively and generally failed to provide any kind of upgrade, even defensively, on what Trippier or even KWO would have.

Alderwerield – Had his work cut out tonight and put a real shift in. Very fortunate not to give a penalty away, but otherwise good game. Probably my MOTM

Vertonghen – Decent enough

Davies – Didn’t have the struggle Aurier did with Hazard, but was still pretty meh and I was actually relieved when Rose came on, as it least we might show some ambition (even if Rose often fails to cash the cheques his chippy ambitious arse writes).

Rose – Great ball for the goal, did look a lot more proactive than Davies had.

Sissoko – Really poor game. Didn’t do enough with or without the ball.

Dier – I’d forgotten how painful watching him trundle around midfield was.

Winks – Tried to make something happen, did play a nice pass out to Rose for the goal, was generally OK.

Eriksen – Bit disappointing to be honest, but not helped too much by the midfielders behind him and a very muddled set of tactics, hard for him to shine really.

Lamela – Another pretty erratic and largely disappointing game. I know the boy has some ability and is happy to run around like a gazelle on PCP, but I’m getting to the point where patience is wearing pretty thin with him. Lack of consistency in his performance level, even within 90 minutes is starting to grate.

Llorente – Did brilliantly for the goal. Didn’t do much else brilliantly.
Moura – Whizzy legs, little brain. Offside twice when we had the ball in our half, and wasted a great chance, not even working the keeper.

Personally I am fed up to the back teeth with always being the bridesmaid and never the bride. I am also fed up with Pooch trying to justify yet another big match defeat as something to be “proud” of because we “competed” . Competing is the base line and winning is what you are proud of. Being proud of a defeat is the language of a loser. Levy we all know is the main culprit in this never ending ground hog day saga but Pooch is very much complicit having been here five years and still mumbling about projects and being ahead in terms of development.look at the figures since ENIC took control. One pathetic league cup victory in over 17 years and bottom of the league table in net investment levels. These two facts are not mutually exclusive They tell the story that deep down we all know. Our best players never stay because they are not paid the going rate and they want success. The fact that Levy pays himself the highest salary in the EPL and the fact that Pooch is paid amongst the highest wages is not overlooked by our players and their agents when they are being told there is not enough money in the pot to pay them a going rate. This is where the disconnect exists between the differing ambitions of the owners and the players and the supporters. It creates a situation in which we never progress further than the promise of ham tomorrow. Pooch is now firmly tarnished with that smell as he took the money in the summer and is prepared to flog his squad to death to justify his own warped sense of ego that he and he alone has this different ability of turning water into wine with a team so clearly lacking in many areas: The reality is what we saw yet again last night. Make no mistake over the two legs Chelsea in terms of individual quality were a quantum leap ahead of us

I thought some of Gazza’s kick outs were very good only to be butchered by that drunk flea that came on up front.

My sports guy at the bbc has invited me to represent Tottenham in the audience at the live fa cup draw on Monday (if we beat palace) gotta be there at 5 for rehearsals. 5 till 7.30. During the one show or just after. He said wear a jacket. Well I aint got a spurs one so I’m gonna go to the spurs shop (they know me) and tell them about my dilemma. They may even give me the whole lot, hat scarves ect. I aint got a new shirt. (I dont wear them anymore) just wear my classic 60/61 shirt.

Agree broadly these comments.
Id have Rose MOTM personally.

We really paid the price for a very lackluster and sloppy 1st half. Poch didn’t anticipate them playing Giroud and moving Hazard to his favoured position. Poor planning.
Second half was so much better- a pattern we have seen a lot lately.
I actually think we should have kept Llorente on and have Moura replace Lamela who was very poor again.

Why we keep playing Aurier at the expense of giving KWP some meaningful game time is starting to really pish me off.
