FOR SALE: Unworn Wedding Dress

By The Boy -

This is from Trix, a Levy lapdog on Spurs Community.

Outspent on incomings? or are we back to net spend? Only four clubs have spent more on incomings in the last 5 years and guess what Arsenal are not one of them.

In the last 5 seasons we have spent more than 75% of the Premier league FACT, so not outspent by all of them by any stretch of the imagination.

Fact is all this net spend criticism imo is based on the fact we have sold Bale and are really really good at selling our unwanted players for an extortionate amount of money.

Not something imo that warrants criticism at all.

Really good at selling unwanted players.

This must be like being really good at selling your unworn wedding dresses.

So if THFC under Levy are not a shower of spendthrift shite, then how come we’ve won just one pot in 15 years?

I take the point the point that we appear to be better than good at damage limitation, but when the damage is self inflicted, this talent loses its shine.

The very evident, overriding strategy is that Spurs continuously break even or make profit on transfer trading activity.

If one only gives cursory glance at the general rough and tumble of Premier League football, very few top flight clubs actually go bust.

What tends to happen is when it goes wrong on the green stuff, it goes wrong at the bank.

The alternative scenario is that the CEO sanctions the purchase of lots of expensive duds, pays mediocre players too much …or he’s writing checks to his local casino.

This is one of my core beefs with Levy.

He is an absolute legend when it comes to having 3% on buying Post It Notes and his land management skills have certainly come to the fore since THProperty Ltd began playing Monopoly in Haringey.

But when it comes to running a football club, the closest we’ll ever get to success is a successful smash and grab raid.

Now before the ‘So I suppose you’d prefer it…‘ knuckleheads pour in with their ‘Do A Leeds’ banners, nobody, has ever even vaguely suggested that THFC spend like a lottery winner that has been diagnosed with just 3 months to live.

In fact, when Levy got a green light to spend, he demonstrated himself as incompetent. This is because his skills set lie elsewhere.

If you are championing Levy, you are automatically championing mediocrity. This boy is fundamentally incapable of delivering silverware.

He’s not wired to do that in life.

Success on the pitch is not in his DNA.

The only anomalies being a player turning into something special and bringing a disproportionate benefit to the team. At which point the player outgrows our set up and is inevitably sold.

And so the cycle is continued.

What is beyond ironic, is that Levy’s model has ploughed the selfsame furrow as Arsene Wenger’s – but they already have a big new stadium – and so we can see that what we’ve witnessed from Levy is only going to get worse, not better.

Levy is an extraordinarily safe pair of hands.

History has taught us that you need far more than a safe pair of hands to be a winner in football.
