Fingers Crossed Tom Carroll Actually Leaves

Fingers Crossed Tom Carroll Actually Leaves

I don’t know the boy.

He’s probably a wonderful human being.

However as a footballer on the books of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club he’s become an even bigger stone in my shoe than that of the pilchard Pritchard.

Both players were trained and assessed by a wide variety of coaches and managers, at this club and many others.

And rejected.

Despite ‘young’ Tom having failed to make the grade anywhere, that never prevented an utterly clueless element of our wise and wonderful support persisting with this fantasy that they could ‘see something in him’.

This vision of course based more upon magic mushrooms than anything he was ever witnessed doing upon a football pitch for anybody.

For some SIX YEARS the now 24 year old Carroll has been milling about to no good purpose.

Loaned out incessantly, Leyton Orient, Derby County and Queens Park Rangers, Queens Park Rangers and Swansea City have聽all been graced with the Watford born boy’s talent.

If Swansea are daft enough to buy him, I wish him Godspeed.

I think Pochettino should be working out how to give N’Koudou game time. I think this lad will change the pace of the game just as the opposition are getting tired (60 mins or so) and that will blood him into the team, ready for next season. I rate this player very highly based on his bit part performances so far.

    • Caspurs鈾匡笍 January 12, 2017 at 1:03 pm

Perfect scenario would be take a 2-0 0r 3-0 lead in games, the opposition would have to gamble and commit more players forward, giving N’Koudou more space to play, very much like the Villa game.

Tom Carroll IS a good footballer. He’s on par with Winks Who’s breaking through this season.

Toms downfall is his presence …. he’s not a tough tackling midfielder, but that’s not his strenghth. If you watch the games he’s played in, he does at least try to get the ball forward. He does the easy thing. He’s not flash and perhaps this also doesn’t help his cause.

He’s played at International level and has had a long career at Spurs. He’s been at the club for the best part of 17 years.

Personally…. I see him better placed in Spain or Italy where it’s more about the technical game than the physical…..

  • Razspur January 12, 2017 at 12:04 pm

Fazio doing well at Roma, he’s been reinvented, none of the players we sell on are s*** it’s just we have not been able to turn them into diamonds, hey we aren’t doing too bad though, even Sissoko is starting to look almost average !

Our academy is designed to make the club money by producing players, that because they might wear the chicken badge in a handful of games, are yearned for by lesser clubs up and down the land because they were made in N17. Almost like creating a brand for consumers daft enough to think that if the lad came from the Tottingham academy – then he must be the dogs bollox.
Fact is Kane was one in a million, hopefully Twinky will be too. But as for the myth (believed by some – including Levy cos it’s cheaper) that we’re going to be the young guns that take the world of footie by storm, with our homegrown talent, is the ultimate con.

Yes, no doubt Tom is a decent, hard working, lad, but he was never good enough to play for us honestly. Too lightweight to run a midfield and not skillful enough to compensate for his lack of physique. He would probably find it hard in the Championship because it is a more physical league. It seems the footballing spending spree will continue, from what I understand there is the old ‘two sh*t’ game being played. Each club owner is trying to outdo the other, the Chinese love to display their wealth and this is another way of doing that.

On the plus side I managed to flog Tom Carroll for 50 million quid along with his personal mentor, it was a package deal. So pack your bags Unk you’re leaving the Valleys and heading to China. On the way through to Changchun Yatai pop into Hong Kong and I’ll put the kettle on.

I don’t think he’s a bad footballer as it goes. A good range of passing. 3 goals and one assist last season – almost as good as Dembele last season (4 goals and 1 assist) who had twice as many minutes.

Two memorable goals were a long range effort against Norwich in the prem, and a messi-esque dribble into the back of the net in the Europa. I forget the fa cup goal he scored.

He’s just a bit lightweight for the rest of the game of football. And doesn’t quite have the brain of a playmaker. Can’t run a midfield.

If he goes, I wish him luck – he’ll need it.

How many Ross Berkley’s does it take to change a light bulb?

        • MysteriousStranger January 12, 2017 at 1:18 am

          *Barkley.

          • Gloster1861 January 12, 2017 at 1:22 am

Is it a variation of the more usual Barclay, or a different origin, I wonder?

            • melcyid January 12, 2017 at 1:29 am

more a variation of the Berks I reckon

              • MysteriousStranger January 12, 2017 at 1:30 am

His Bark is worse than his bite.

It’s Waddles fault, cut ‘n’ pasted it from his post, i’m innocent!

I blame Waddle for many things. Mainly my retro hair style, my ill fated attempt to climb the charts and sounding like an extra from Auf Weidersehen Pet

        • Gloster1861 January 12, 2017 at 1:23 am

As well as the retractable pitch there will also be the launch tube for Stingray to get into the river Lea.

    • melcyid January 12, 2017 at 1:35 am

also a big glass wall where you can see the players walking from the changing room to the pitch while preening themselves

The Tunnel Club, for rich voyeurs. Classy.

          • Caspurs鈾匡笍 January 12, 2017 at 2:10 am

You have to persuade them to feed you! Makes 20k+ sound like a bargain.

  • Gloster1861 January 12, 2017 at 1:05 am

I don’t even remember Kevin Stewart at Spurs, but Klopp seems to like the lad.

    • East Stand January 12, 2017 at 1:11 am

He went there because Alex Inglethorpe also went there and recommended him and another player once their contracts were out with us.

He’s bit of a ‘one that got away’ case for me, perhaps he wasn’t rated or maybe we didn’t offer him any commitment in the way of a contract but fairly decent player that Poch may well have been able to do something with. Think it may have happened during AVB or Timmy’s glorious spells in charge…

      • DAVID January 12, 2017 at 9:01 am

According to his wiki page, Stewart is a Liverpool supporter who left us when Poch was in charge.

        • East Stand January 12, 2017 at 2:05 pm

It was the summer when Poch arrived, i’m not sure Poch even had chance to assess him before he’d signed a pre contract with Liverpool so it was down to previous management not tying him down.

Players will put whatever they think people want to hear on their Wikipedia. Being a Liverpool fan is why he left us? So was Dele Alli…

          • DAVID January 12, 2017 at 2:27 pm

Just giving you the facts …

  • Ronwol196061 January 12, 2017 at 12:58 am

I don’t know why the lads of TBH don’t just have a whip round and buy Hull so we can see our own one of ours pub team while the corporations get to watch the real stuff.

No doubt Taff will kick in the most

    • East Stand January 12, 2017 at 1:03 am

I’ll put a score in Ron, that do?

      • Ronwol196061 January 12, 2017 at 2:00 am

        That’s a hull of a commitment ES!

        • 61SpursNut馃尠 January 12, 2017 at 9:26 am

          I must Humberly decline.

  • East Stand January 12, 2017 at 12:52 am

He might end up a decent Prem midfielder once all the expectation over him being the best thing since sliced fried chicken has subsided.

Let him go and build something of a career, was it something to do with home grown or club reared players and the Champion’s League rules? Might explain why he was retained in the summer?

  • Gloster1861 January 12, 2017 at 12:51 am

Onomah can join Carroll and Pritchard as not-quite-good-enough.

    • East Stand January 12, 2017 at 12:56 am

It seems everyone has decided quite recently that Onomah is shite. I think he put in couple of non-performances and that was it.

I can’t say i’ve seen enough of him to fully decide really, he doesn’t look like anything special but then neither do half the team half the time!!

      • Gloster1861 January 12, 2017 at 12:59 am

I have never rated any of his performances, ever. He is a plank.

        • East Stand January 12, 2017 at 1:02 am

I’ll have to take your word for it, I haven’t really noticed anything about him apart from a bit of dribbling here and there, doing an impression of someone who wants to win us the game. I really can’t add anymore to the Onomah debate…

          • Gloster1861 January 12, 2017 at 1:03 am

Nothing special in him, looks like a journeyman to me. Of course, I would love to be wrong.

  • East Stand January 12, 2017 at 12:48 am

    Sixf.

    Carroll awf…
