Finally A Spurs Player Says Something Intelligent

By The Boy -

Eric Dier said: “Football is about winning trophies. If you ask us later on in life and we hadn’t won a trophy with the squad we have now, the players we’ve got and the base we have to do that… if in five years’ time [that hadn’t happened] everyone would be disappointed.

‘We’ve got to keep working hard and improving as there is still a lot we can work on before we reach that level, and the whole squad is desperate to win trophies.”

Trophies.

Tangible tings one can touch.

No graphs, spreadsheets or threats to build a pissing time machine that will take us back to some epoch entitled ‘the dark old days’.

No pseudo-shareholder speak, no crowing over the acquisition of capital assets, no threats of bankruptcy if we have the audacity to actually try and build a bloody football team.

No sneering at competitions that are older than your nan’s teeth. No hiring of Wembley stadium, but actually playing your way to a final lifting a pot.

The sheer warmth, the fuzzy sense of wellbeing that comes from winning a cup that your dad used to speak of with a slight tear in his eye.

Get on with it Levy you mediocre chump and if you can, up your piss poor game. New stadium? Amazeballs training facility?

All wrap, no gift.

I want silverware.
