There is “no doubt” Real Madrid want to sign Harry Kane, the club’s former president has told The Sun.
The Spanish giants will be seeking a star striker to help close the gap with LaLiga leaders Barcelona next season, with the Tottenham star their long-term choice, Ramon Calderon told the paper. He said Real will have to overcome Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s unwillingness to sell Kane, 24, and any deal would cost “a fortune”.
Bernabeu chiefs are said to be also considering Robert Lewandowski, Bayern Munich’s 29-year-old striker who captains the Poland national team.
Calderon told SunSport: “The objective for Real Madrid, no doubt, is Kane. “If they want a player for the next five or six years they are going to go for Kane but [Spurs chairman Daniel] Levy is going to ask a fortune for him.”
Spurs fans need to wake up to a few home truths here.
The New Destination™ will 100% leave Spurs as financially emasculated as it has ever been.
This means very limited player retention and no show-stopping additions to the squad.
Harry Kane’s loyalty (no laughing at the back, please) won’t be the only one tested to it’s very breaking point.
It was unthinkable that Manchester United would sell Cristiano Ronaldo. He went.
It was unthinkable that Spurs would sell Gareth Bale. He went.
Elsewhere, the Tottenham starting XI is ageing, and is Pochettino wants four more years to build, then it simply will not happen with this team.
Lloris, Vertonghen, Rose and Dembele just for four examples will absolutely not be at the top of their game in 4 years time.
The timing of this whole brave new world guff has been appalling and as has been stated on numerous occasions, change is something Levy & Co., routinely handle in a miserable manner.
Fans are staring at a distinctly challenging future that could have been much better dealt with had Spurs stayed at The Lane and built a side under Poch with a winning mentality.
You build by winning, not by acquiring land.
Sharply, ENICs approach has been revealed as being somewhere between risible and mercenary.
Still there are Flat Earthers mumbling incoherently about the inability of Tottenham to compete with the big clubs.
Bottom line is ENIC resisted investing whilst others did legally.
Now it is no longer possible to sink money in order to significantly advantage the football team.
However Manchester United, Chelsea and City are all still flying commercially the back of their form for winning.
They command vastly superior sponsorships and use that money to reinforce the football team.
Liverpool did what ENIC would deem wholly unpalatable.
They shipped in a manager and backed him, the fools!
Out went a whole raft of junk including a very ropey defense and in came some sensible buys and a world class striker.
The irony must not be missed by Spurs fans that THFC is more closely aligned to the sinking and unpopular model used at Arsenal.
It depends upon your outlook as to whether you’ll accept these evidence based facts as certainties or not.
I can’t make you see sense.
The irritant phrase ‘enjoying the ride’ is proffered up less frequently thank goodness, but it still used as masking language, in the vain attempt to distract from the reality of what real building is.
Liverpool are in fact rebuilding. So are Chelsea, City and Manchester United.
Rebuilding by winning and by being seen to go all out to win.
None of these clubs are foisting Cheese Rooms and £2,200 seats that come with a private lavatory included.
It feels to me as if Spurs are being plumped for an asset stripping exercise.
The only true asset a club has are the marketing rights, by the way.
My fear is that no matter how sore the teats on the Client Reference Numbers become, ENIC won’t give a damn. They aren’t the RSPCA.
There’ll be some other upwardly mobile consumer behind them with a fresh ripe udder swinging from them.
The football doesn’t need to succeed in either the ENIC or Kroenke models.
Arsenal fans protested by not occupying seats – already paid for – this is simply beyond parody.
Their board reacted by firing their best manager ever and will now hire some other stooge and not give him enough cash either!
Our first season at our new gaff will be more or less alright.
The following one will be what is know in the music industry as the ‘difficult second album’.
