Alright, Everybody Be Cool, This Is A Robbery…

By The Boy -

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino will watch Leicester’s game against West Ham on Sunday but insists he is not going crazy hoping they will lose.

Time is running out for Spurs to catch the Foxes, who are seven points clear at the top of the table with five games remaining.

Tottenham will not play before the league leaders at any point during the run-in, including this weekend as they face Stoke on Monday, 24 hours after their rivals.

It means Pochettino and his players will be West Ham fans on Sunday afternoon but the Argentinian says he will not be tearing his hair out.

“It is important to be calm and have a clear idea what you need to do. We cannot affect what is going to happen on Sunday,” Pochettino said.

“I will watch. It is not difficult. I am not a crazy man. It is a healthy competition between teams that want to win and achieve big things and it is good in football. It is true the opponent who plays Leicester, I push a little bit more for the opponent.”

The Spurs players will train on Sunday morning and are free to watch the Leicester game together, but Pochettino said there is no plan in place.

“Maybe after training we are on lunchtime yes but it is not a rule,” Pochettino said. “We are not preparing to watch all together the game. They are free to go home after training, after lunch.”

Tottenham’s composure was put to the test last Sunday, when they were made to stew over Leicester’s win over Sunderland as their kick-off was delayed due to Manchester United arriving late.

An emphatic 3-0 victory, however, reduced the gap back to seven points and Pochettino says the win showed his team’s strength of character.

“It was very important. Being the late game changed the habit and it was difficult to start the game, a bit slow,” Pochettino said. “You can feel all the people are disappointed, our players, the supporters too, but they were fantastic in the end.

“We got 3-0 against United and the belief again for all the week to prepare for Stoke. We can dream again that it is possible that Leicester will drop points on Sunday.”
