The Champions League squad omissions have caused less than a small murmur as only the wildest optimist would have imagined that either Janssen or Lamela could make the cut to play in Europe.

Janssen is finished at Spurs. Even a child would have understood that they would have needed to excel in not just in general training but in the preseason games; yet Vinny lacked even that level of awareness.

With Lamela I fail to believe that the club has been straight with anyone. Sometimes telling the truth, no matter how unsavoury can alleviate a bad situation almost immediately.

Like opening windows after a particularly unpleasant dump, opposed to trying to mask the stench with air freshener, which simply merely gives you ‘essence of summer rose with delicate notes of a particularly unpleasant dump’.

Goalkeepers: Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm, Paulo Gazzaniga

Defenders: Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez, Juan Foyth, Serge Aurier, Ben Davies.

Midfielders: Victor Wanyama, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko, Mousa Dembele, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen.

Forwards: Heung-Min Son, Harry Kane, Fernando Llorente.

    What position does Son play?

  • Devonshirespur September 5, 2017 at 2:19 pm

    Secret Weapon Nkoudou.

  • Devonshirespur September 5, 2017 at 2:18 pm

Shame theres no space for Winks. Guess he might get more weekend game time if Dembs cant do 2 games a week.

Christ, I missed winks not being in there. That’s tough. Feels like a reaction to last season’s naivety in the CL (the team’s not him specifically).

What’s the latest on the Pamela rumours? It’s a coke ban no? Otherwise why lie?

You’re absolutely right, they’ve needlessly fucked us about with the constant lack of clarity. Jesus wept, didn’t they at one stage suggest he was back in training early 2017? And we’ve never had a definitive clarification of his situation changing.

    Turds.

Poch’s confidence in Sissoko is baffling, his confidence in Nkoudou is encouraging

Sissoko is an attacking midfielder that can tackle. Janssen is now our third striker.
Sissoko will improve Im 100% sure of that.
I think last year he was striving and struggling to do well for Poch and his system. I think he had a hard time playing it. Running like the wind and passing at pace. When he has a little room he is better (look Janssen too couldnt find space but its hard to find midfielders that cost what Llorente did to use as a sub)
I think Sissoko might just find that space and use it.
Failing that next window or next summer both will finance a new CM

    • HornDoggerMan September 5, 2017 at 12:55 pm

They listed Son as a striker, so Vinnie is now 4th place.

    • Harry Hotspur September 5, 2017 at 1:53 pm

Sissoko is a fucking idiot, Ron.

It would be hard for Sissoko to get any worse

Ron we know theres a player in there mate. Poch does too.

  • HornDoggerMan September 5, 2017 at 12:33 pm

The only thing relevant about our CL squad is their ability to advance. So march on lads, make Wembley a fortress (very wishful thinking.)

  • Hoddisgod September 5, 2017 at 12:23 pm

I just looked on this site http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php#c19
and Pamela is due back in November………
therefore if we make the knockout/Europa stages (delete as appropriate I hope!) I presume we can make changes?

    • McG September 5, 2017 at 12:27 pm

That was reading Oct 14th for Lamela a week or so ago.

      • Hoddisgod September 5, 2017 at 12:30 pm

I never really take such sites seriously, so I guess they get the info straight from THFC medical folks?
Plus there was no mention of Dele’s injured finger issues??? or did it just cramp up and go rigid? or was it his true feelings to Brainfart Bonzo showing?

        • McG September 5, 2017 at 12:34 pm

Physioroom I’ve always found to be pretty much on the money as it happens..

  • McG September 5, 2017 at 12:20 pm

So we didn’t have enough home grown talent to include Janssen or Lamela: There are a minimum of eight places reserved exclusively for ‘locally trained players’.
Lamela I can understand, altho a little disappointed that he’s not looking close to a return, as for Janssen, even Sissy’s ahead of him now. I happen to think Sissy done ok so far this season. One thing of note, Voodoo def has a future with us by the look of things. He’s raw but has some great skills, hope he develops under Poch into another little gem.

  • mattspurs September 5, 2017 at 12:16 pm

What’s slightly worrying is how our home-grown continent seems to be so lacking (Davies is HG for PL but not for CL?) which leaves us with a 21 man squad. Can’t help but thinking letting McGee leave was stupid given Gazzinga takes a spot away from Lamela or Janssen.

Poor Janssen – either he’s toast or he’ll respond to the biggest rocket ever.
Lamela has always been pretty good in Europe – especially in terms of goals but clearly confidence in him getting fit soon isn’t great. Alli isn’t available until November yet still makes the squad.

Positives are the return of Rose and the confidence in Foyth to include him. (technically called clutching at straws)

    • Caspurs♿️ September 5, 2017 at 12:32 pm

I don’t think it’s so much a case of confidence in Foyth, as it is a case of necessity, considering we let Wimmer and CCV leave.

Players who can/have played centre back – Jan,Toby, Dier, Wanyama, Sanchez, Davies
Players who can/have played CF – Harry, Lloriente, Son

I am assuming those that qualify in the “youth” category, i.e.: Winks, Oakley-Boothe, etc. don’t have to be named?

I really cant understand how Janssen can go to work now and not be totally embarassed. He wasnt sold and he has done his best. He didnt apply for the job,he was bought by us.
Its not fucking right and its as bad as a playing fucking off to another club
