ESPN Have Got It Wrong

By The Boy -

THFC have been handing out new contracts like a chemist casting his sugar free lollipops at impressionable minors.

Richard Jolly of ESPN looks at the splurge of new deals to the likes of Bonzo, Eric Dier, Christian Eriksen, Harold Winks, Danny Rose, Tom Carroll and now the boy Carter-Vickers.

Somehow, employing what I would call counterintuitive logic, Mr Jolly warns us of the crash of 2008…

In 2008, Tom Huddlestone, Michael Dawson and Jermaine Jenas extended their contracts and David Bentley joined.

Spurs seemed to have a generation of young English talent. They began the following season with two points from eight games.

By 2009-10, Dawson was the only regular starter.

Speaking as someone who saw through J****, Dances With Scones, their able side Azza Blud, Benny the Racist and Adebayor, I can pretty much spot a time waster when I see one.

Walker, Dier, Eriksen, Winks, Rose, Carroll and Carter-Vickers are incomparable to some of the muck we’ve had on our books.

Admittedly, Bentaleb was a disaster, but I’m putting that one down to Levy.

I’ve no evidence to support that this signing was actually his work, but given his judgement is routinely poor, it’s not a tough case to argue.

Nobody can accurately predict the future, but I take a view that our recent contract extensions make plenty of sense, from both financial and footballing perspectives.

As I blogged recently, this activity is the smartest thing Levy’s done in his entire reign.

We’re in for a fairly volatile period during the transition from The Lane to INSERT YOUR BRAND HERE Stadium and ring fencing our playing staff isn’t just a  shrewd move, it’s vital.
