I’ve just wasted 25 minutes trying to find the source article. Guess what? Well, many of the UK press are saying “sources in Spain” as if this “nod is as good as wink” phrase has some mystical meaning, or an even more mystical value.
What is more desperate still is, if one scrolls back and back to find the source… there isn’t one. Or at least, there isn’t a remotely credible one. The source, as best I can see it, is “FootyLatest” who cite “Spanish sources” on the 1oth.
So I went looking overseas. Unless I’m missing something, they’re equally confused. “LaStampa” are running with the tale, but they are quoting the recycling bin that is “SportsDirectNews” who were far from early on this, let alone the ones to break it. “ForzaRoma” cited The Express. As have “FootballEspania.”
Nobody is quoting “FootyLatest,” and this is familiar tactic when a publisher stumbles upon a source …and doesn’t care for it. Wait a bit, and then once someone further up the credibility food chain ruins with it, Bob’s your mother’s brother.
The notion that Lamela would be loaned out anywhere, to any good purpose, requires some serious disbelief suspension. His problems, appear to be the nature of the Premier League and having no English. Neither issue would be addressed by packing him of “back to where he came from.”
