€50M Bid In For Spurs Target

By The Boy -

There’s a been fair bit of mumbling about Barca’s Malcolm being a potential loan target for Tottenham.

One plausible element of this tale is that the currently out of favour 21 year old is ‘only’ on £90,000 a week, which not make the proposal impossible.

One prospective problem is that according to Sport, Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande have offered €50million for the São Paulo born boy.

Malcolm has managed just 5 league appearances for Barca since his arrival that the Camp Nou. 4 of those were form the bench, and his one first team start saw him subbed off.

I guess it depends upon the Brazilian’s ambition. It could be easily argued that he is uncharacteristically young to going off the grid in South East Asia.

Whereas as jaunt in the Premier League would be a constant challenge, week in, week out.

Sport understand that Tottenham only contacted Barcelona yesterday to enquire about his availability.

The Brazilian is again out of the Barca squad for the second leg of the Cup Round of 16 tonight, against Levante.

A loan deal of such gravitas at Spurs would tell us a lot about the way the football team is run.

None of it good.

Not sure he is the type of player we need and not convinced he would be good for the prem. I would prefer to sign someone proven in the prem. If he was very obviously a stick on improvement on Moura and or Lamela he would make sense, other than that I would stay well clear unless we had the loan option to try before buy, price agreed re loan should we want to buy after.

Is it today the ‘high level’ meeting was due to take place?I guess until that is concluded nobody knows what we are going to do, And will a statement be issued to the media regarding our intent?
I stick with my thought that nobody will be arriving in January. As stated earlier he would just be GKN 2.0 or Moura 2.0 and doesn’t address the main concern which is cover for Kane.
Levy will muddle through as usually and get his mega bonus at the end of the season.

This will only be a loan. I think getting him (or even wanting him) has sailed. I called it in the summer, he was being touted about for £50m but no-one ever came in for him. It ended up dropping to £35m before he was bought and regretted.

I thought Dean was just bad rather than one sided. Must say a few things that were large seemed to go un-noticed against us, but there were a few bits and niggles from both sides ignored. Was hard to tell though as we dominated so much (bar the score line) and nothing major happened against them to be ignored. Whether we like it or not, someone was going to get Kane sooner or later, and with the fatigue of playing it hits harder.

Sick of it all. The plan/aim appears obvious – successful business fuelled by a nearly successful football team. Top four, tantalising hopes of soon being able to challenge for the league title, losing cup semi-finals… top four, tantalising hopes etc etc and on it goes. Part of me thinks, how dare I complain? I’ve been Spurs since the late 70s, and never before have I seen such a consistently good team. But that’s what makes it worse, infuriating, demoralising, frustrating… so many words could be used. We’re so close, but if we truly wanted to do it we’d have actually tried by now. When I say ‘we’, I suppose I must mean the money men at the club. Thing is, the manager, coaches, players and us fans ARE trying our damnedest, but the club isn’t. And I can’t help feeling (who couldn’t tbh?) that the new stadium is either a) just a means of raking in more cash in the long term, or b) just a means of raking in more cash in the shorter term by making the club more appealing to buyers. And lastly, being linked with Origi, whether true or not, is driving me f***ing mad. Finished above that vile lot in eight of the past nine seasons, and suddenly we’re meant to make do with one of their cast-offs. Bollocks.

Since the Kane injury the media bs has spun into a frenzy of ludicrous speculation rarely witnessed before. Even the once reliable Telegraph stated that no replacement was needed because a combination of Moura, Lamela and Llorente would provide adequate cover. In the old days an article like that would have been immediately cut into little squares for reuse in the throttling pit. Now we have this balls about Malcolm cropping up everywhere when he fits none of the dire positional needs that could result in a Spurs meltdown over the next month. The only good thing to come out of all this is that the Fantasy Island desks at the Express and Star have put a temporary hold on the Kane to Spain stories.

Thanks to a combination of “Magic Mike” Dean exacting revenge for our thrashing of Tranmere and Solsjaer taking Fergie’s advice about leaving a brown paper bag full of used notes in the referee’s room before the game, we find ourselves in a precarious predicament. Add to this our chairman’s preference for Monopoly over football, I would suggest that Spur’s fans “lube up” because what’s coming is gonna hurt like a b.i.t.c.h.

I dont understand this one.
He is neither stand in for Harry nor replacement for Eriksen. He is Lucas Moura 2.0. We already have Lucas Moura 1.0.

A 5ft6 winger with one hot season in a crappy French league. Hold on. He is GKN 2.0. We already have GKN 1.0

Id rather we didnt blow our wad on this guy. Let the Chinese have him.

I think we are all in agreement we are not likely to keep Eriksen. For me the only thing left is to get as much for him as possible (in this I trust Levy) and to use that money to find an adequate replacement (for this I have no trust in Levy). As said below, our scouting network is rubbish, it has to be the worst in the top flight (either they cant spot talent or not aligned to the business or football needs properly – I mean I could find Messi…but Spurs cant afford him). You look at us and I fee we are still looking for 5 plyers that may improve us, when realistically we should be looking for 1 player that will. We are possibly 18months away from being back to needing 5 players. Currently we need a short term replacement for Kane, long term for Llorente, 2 Central midfielders (depending on fitness of Wanyama), and potentially our full backs are not quite good enough. In 18months if we don’t improve we will need, a new back up Keeper (Gazza will be no1, lloris will be gone), a new back line (fullbacks and CB’s) almost an entire midfield (Ericsen, Dembele, Wanyama, Sissy will be gone or done) and attacking wise we should be OK as Parratt should be old enough and our front line (if they stay) will be a good age.

There seems to be a rumour that Poch has 50 million to spend in the January sales. The reporter appears to have gotten confused by what Poch said and has come up with this fake news. What Poch actually said to the reporter, after leaving Daniel’s office, was ” Daniel’s just given me 50 pounds to go and buy a card and flowers for Mousa on his successful transfer to a large Chinese football club we once sold Paulinho to.”

Given Malcolm’s performances to date for Barca, a cheeky 50 quid bid might tempt them to offload him to us. Might be an upgrade on the N-men then?
