Welcome the first in a series of David Dillenburg’s premium round up of current and potential Tottenham Hotspur transfer targets of this summer.

So what we have here is part wishful thinking and part recycled rumours with just a sprinkling of Dilly Dilly!

Heading the list is DD’s old favourite ex-link, the incomparable EZIQUIEL PONCE. The boy Ponce is an Argentine striker for French club Lille OSC, on loan from Roma. He also holds Spanish citizenship.

2. MATTHIJS DE LIGT (18 yrs) (Ajax Centre Half). Seen as a replacement for Toby.

3. MARTIAL (22 yrs) – pacy Manure Forward.
4. Ooh ah versatile pacy exciting defender Ryan SESSEGNON scoring goals for fun for Fulham in the championship this season. If sold this summer will likely command a lofty transfer figure.
5. Saints captain BERTRAND (28 yrs) experienced full back.
6. MAWSON (24 yrs) (Swansea Centre Half). Seen as a replacement for Toby.
7. PULISIC (19 yrs) (Borussia Dortmund) midfielder.

8. ZIYECH (25 yrs) (Ajax) Moroccan attacking midfielder.

9. CRISTANTE (23 yrs) Italian midfielder for Atalanta (on loan from Portuguese club Benfica)
10. BALE (28 yrs) Ex Spurs injury prone supremely talented (Real Madrid) game changing winger, likely to be used as bait in any future Spurs transfer deal who have first option.

11. Croatian, KOVACIC (24 yrs) (constantly lauded by Ron as a midfield messiah! but yet to establish himself as a regular in the Real Madrid side often appearing on the subs bench. Likely to be used as bait in any future Spurs transfer deal. If signed would add much needed dynamism to team.

12. Isco (aged 26) attacking midfielder predictably always gets mentioned ad nausiam by fellow posters in every transfer window but seemingly an integral part of the Real Madrid squad. Likely to be used as bait for Kane in any future Spurs transfer deal).
13. Benzema (aged 30) forward. Underrated Real Madrid striker likely to be used as bait for Kane in any future Spurs transfer deal.
14. Ex Spurs Croatian wizard Modric (aged 32 years) star performer aging Real Madrid superb midfielder likely to be used as bait for Kane in any future Spurs transfer deal.

15. LASCELLES, Newcastle captain, aged 24 years has established himself as a solid centre half). Seen as a replacement for Toby. Linked to the Spammers.

16. Ooh ah ZAHA (25 yrs) Ivorian pacy star man Crystal Palace winger. If sold this summer will likely command a lofty transfer figure.
17. N’Zonzi (29 yrs) French ex Stoke Sevilla defensive midfielder.
18. NEVES (21 yrs) (talented influential Portuguese Wolves midfielder excels at free kicks). If sold this summerwill likely command a lofty transfer figure but according to the Express and Star paper he has “no interest” in leaving.

19. ICARDI (25 yrs) (Argentian Inter Milan forward)

20. Kieran Tierney (20 yrs) talented pacy full back who has seemingly now ended speculation by reportedly pledging his long term future to Celtic. However if sold this summer will likely command a lofty transfer figure.

Does Raiola do anything without it involving him getting money?

Yeah he drowns kittens in buckets

Selling Bale to Madrid was supposed to be part of our ‘Special relationship’ that we had with them, or in Spanish ‘We’ll take your best players, and give you F&*k-all in return’. If by some strange turn of events we manage to get Bale back from them, then part of the deal should be that we scrap the ‘Special Relationship’ deal…

    • Nicktheyid May 18, 2018 at 11:43 am

The special relationship ended a few years ago.

    • Accy May 18, 2018 at 11:44 am

This is wrong. The special relationship is documented as related to the academy – arrangements over youth players. Suffice to say RM didn’t hold up their end of the deal so it fizzled out.

It was never about their first team or ours.

      • Accy May 18, 2018 at 11:45 am

I love how it gets mentioned every summer, like Clockwork.

That reminds me – Leandro Damiao is missing from your list, DD!

(wouldn’t be silly season without ten or so jokes being made about previous links to Damiao).

      • chrism090861 May 18, 2018 at 11:45 am

        Oh OK, i didn’t know that…

        • Accy May 18, 2018 at 11:47 am

sorry chrism – it’s not your fault I get annoyed. It’s mainly other Spurs forums where it gets mentioned.

The clarity on the situation was brought about a couple of/a few years ago in the minutes to the THST’s meeting with Levy.

          • chrism090861 May 18, 2018 at 11:55 am

No need to apologise, at least now i know what the situation is… So basically i spent years believing they were shafting us and just getting our best players out of ‘The Deal’… Oh well, now i know !!

            • Accy May 18, 2018 at 11:56 am

The fault in this lays with Levy. He made the announcement to the world that we had a special relationship with them. Raised expectations.

          • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:56 am

Does Real bother with an academy? They just cherry pick from the best of other club’s players for their galacticos. Maybe that’s the problem.

    • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? May 18, 2018 at 11:50 am

      Like most relationships I’ve had.

  • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:21 am

Justin Kliuvert apparently rejected a move to Spurs and wants to join ManUre. The kid must be stupid. Has he seen how Martial and Rashford have been treated by Mourinho? And he wants some of that?

    • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:26 am

A crucial details is that his agent is that detestable Mino Raiola. Since he also represents de Ligt I think we can scratch that one of Dilly’s list as well.

      • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:26 am

        *off

        • Camus May 18, 2018 at 11:32 am

          Money for old Raiola, Glos…

      • caveman May 18, 2018 at 11:28 am

        And surely Dele Alli

        • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:36 am

          Is that right?

      • Accy May 18, 2018 at 11:41 am

I’ve heard Raiola has just been advising De Ligt, but isn’t actually his agent.

In fact, Transfermarkt has his agent as a bloke named Barry Hulshoff, who manages one other geezer.

        https://www.transfermarkt.com/barry-hulshoff/beraterfirma/berater/4710

        • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:51 am

Does Raiola do anything without it involving him getting money?

        • leftsartreback May 18, 2018 at 1:24 pm

‘Kluivert found about the Tottenham talks via Mino Raiola, and has explained why he chose the agent….’

Now why would Raiola upset the apple cart like that?

  • Horndog 🇺🇸 May 18, 2018 at 11:08 am

DD is considerably smarter and possesses a personality much shinier than Neil Ashton. Besides Dilly is a hellava guy. Never afraid to give an opinion and never afraid to admit he is wrong. If you haven’t met him, you should.

    • Harry Hotspur May 18, 2018 at 11:16 am

Not had the pleasure, but once I’ve scheduled the necessary hours in with shrink I’d be delighted to.

      • Horndog 🇺🇸 May 18, 2018 at 11:23 am

Not to worry H, DD is a shrink in his spare time. 🤪

        • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 11:36 am

As you can imagine Joyce is very tolerant!!

    • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 11:17 am

Thanks Horny. My cheque is in the post! When I met you and Ron plus Spurts, Poxy, Spursy, Nilly and others it was privilege to meet you all A very special day which hopefully we shall arrange a match coinciding around my big birthday in Nov/ Dec.
Whilst I acknowledge I am not everybodys cuppa and attractive some negative posts I love you all.

      • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 11:18 am

        *attract

      • Accy May 18, 2018 at 11:21 am

Dilly I really like you (even if I do take issue with your calls to play Reo Griffiths and Phoenix Patterson over Kane and Eriksen).

        • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 11:40 am

          Ta Accy.
IMO no reason not to have brought RG on in the tepid 2nd half of the FA Cup semi final when we desperately needed something different!

      • chrism090861 May 18, 2018 at 11:22 am

DD, if we all had the same opinion then there wouldn’t be any point in us all being here !!!!!!

        • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 11:49 am

Indeed when the common theme is our love of Spurs and it’s illustrious history entering a new era at the new stadium. What could possibly go wrong!!

  • Panama Paul May 18, 2018 at 11:00 am

Ok, so is this just a Top 20 that will evolve over the transfer window with players dropping in and out of the list? Or will it end up being DD’s Top 200 Transfer targets?
Are the “targets” being linked to us, being vetted as to authenticity or is it just based on whatever drops out of Neil Ashton’s a**hole?

    • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 11:06 am

Subject to what HH says it will evolve over the transfer window with players added to the list dropping in and out!

      • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:11 am

Dropping out being a euphemism for watching them sign for our rivals!

    • Harry Hotspur May 18, 2018 at 11:14 am

As per the wording on the tin.

It’s wishful thinking + what in the press.

It’s more of sounding board than a crystal ball.

  • Ronwol196061 May 18, 2018 at 10:59 am

I think Kovacic give us he strength that we will lose with Dembeles going (or of he doesnt his health deteriorating ) He also is sharp on the ball and hits very clean passes quickly. In this way he ticks the boxes for the Poch counter system. Infact he can play out of the DM position too and use Eriksen deeper to create and bring in Moura or another creative player a bit further forward

    • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:02 am

I can’t see Real Madrid letting us take any of their players without us giving them some kind of future option on Kane and/or Eriksen and possibly Dele. A Faustian agreement.

      • Ronwol196061 May 18, 2018 at 11:06 am

Im not sure what we can or cant do. Ive seen in my life us buying Jimmy Greaves,Ardilles,Van der Vart,Klinsmann and Ginola.
Is it beyond us? Maybe. But we are stocked with players further forward. Do we need both Lamela and Dele while beaing weaker in central midfield?

        • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:09 am

I’m just saying when you deal with Real Madrid check you’ve still got your wallet, phone, wristwatch, car keys, cuff links and underpants afterwards.

          • caveman May 18, 2018 at 11:19 am

Yeah, I’m reminded of the ‘special relationship’, whatever that was supposed to mean.

            • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:23 am

It meant they had Levy on speed dial.

              • caveman May 18, 2018 at 11:25 am

                Lol

      • Paddio May 18, 2018 at 11:34 am

The special relationship has been slowly dropped, there have been a few Madrid players we were actually and allegedly going to have but they didn’t want to come to us so everything will be just an individual deals going forward with convoluted payment deals

  • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 10:52 am

    HH
    Many thanks for blog conversion!
    Cheers
    DD

    • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 10:53 am

      Who is paying whom?

    • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 10:55 am

OK DD, we going to see Jack Grealish appear on a future list?

      • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 11:02 am

Much depends whether Villa are promoted to the PL.
After bursting onto the scene Grealish lost his way but seems to have matured.

        • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:04 am

I seem to remember Grealish being Villa’s black sheep about three years ago.

          • Elevenstonedidiots May 18, 2018 at 11:42 am

Grealish has copped himself on and is now Villa’s main man. I think he’s a good call. I’ve seen him a few times and he’s got a bit of Gazza/Modders about him. Good dribbler, glides past defenders and if Villa failed to win promotion could be a viable target.

    • Harry Hotspur May 18, 2018 at 11:03 am

Top man I think is this a great addition 👌

      • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 11:05 am

        Yes!
I overlooked the Norwich guy Maddison attracting interest.

        • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 11:06 am

          Arsenal fan boy. Unlikely DD.

  • Al May 18, 2018 at 10:45 am

    Toby Alderweireld

    • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 10:50 am

Exclusive: Tottenham succeed in signing Toby Alderweireld from Spurs?

      • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 10:53 am

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy says it is a testament to his shrewd leadership of the club that he is able to attract top drawer talent like Toby to take us to the next level..😮😣

  • Harry Hotspur May 18, 2018 at 10:38 am
    • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 10:47 am

Odd that players like him never see the inside of the first team changing room. Scored 7 goals and 4 assists in 2 games in the Premier League 2. And yet we persist with accomodating dross like Sissoko.

Maybe one who will come back to haunt Spurs.

      • gloster1861 May 18, 2018 at 10:48 am

        22 games, not 2! !😂

      • Harry Hotspur May 18, 2018 at 11:16 am

        His mum is from Hamburg.

Bit of curve ball with that one.

  • PlayitagainSamways May 18, 2018 at 10:38 am

Jay Rodriguez. Would do a good job for us. Not stardust but good enough.

And that CM that plays for Watford.

    Peter Crouch to return.

    • Erik May 18, 2018 at 10:55 am

Doucoure, from Watford, would be a very good signing.

      • Panama Paul May 18, 2018 at 11:01 am

Sounds like a ladies skincare product.

      • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 11:09 am

        Perhaps but not Kovacic ilk.

        • Erik May 18, 2018 at 11:38 am

          Perhaps more realistic though.

          • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 12:02 pm

            Erik I concur with that.

  • chrism090861 May 18, 2018 at 10:25 am

Some good one’s there Harry, compulsive viewing and wishing !!! Just a footnote, I was at the Spurs – Newcastle game two weeks ago, and Lascelles is IMHO really worth a punt. Power, Pace, good reading of the game, good in the air, and can tackle. Pretty much repelled our attack on his own all game (Apart from obviously Kane’s goal)

    • Harry Hotspur May 18, 2018 at 10:28 am

He also ‘looks’ like a captain!

      • chrism090861 May 18, 2018 at 10:50 am

Yep, he spent lots of time berating the Newcastle players during the game !!

        • Panama Paul May 18, 2018 at 11:01 am

The floggings will continue until morale improves!

        • Harry Hotspur May 18, 2018 at 11:03 am

Opposed to reading Brecht and sighing ☺️

  • Accy May 18, 2018 at 10:24 am

  • Harry Hotspur May 18, 2018 at 10:18 am

    This is great stuff Dilly

    Thank you!

    • David Dillenberg May 18, 2018 at 10:54 am
