DEFCON Shambles: Season Ticket Take Up Collapses

DEFCON Shambles: Season Ticket Take Up Collapses

I wish nothing other than the best for the team, but the regime? Pffffft.

One fan posted online: ‘My other membership in my wife’s name is 45634th in the queue and she has been invited today by email to apply for a season ticket, so take up is what, less than 40% at the moment. We’ve only had that membership for one season.’

Another added: ‘My son’s friends’ son has been offered one at 52785.’

A fan well done the pecking order added: ‘I’ve just got the email and I was about 51k in the queue. Have they hugely overestimated the number of people who want season tickets? Now I’ve got a decision to make… Nice of them to give me 24 hours… ‘

‘I’ve never really wanted a ST, but I must admit that I might be tempted now… My point was more about the club using those waiting list numbers to secure the financing on the new stadium. The banks might not be happy.

If they are only selling an additional 18k ST’s and I’ve been offered one at 51,108 that’s a pretty low take-up rate.’

Has Levy wildly overestimated the goodwill from supporters? Of course he has. His degree in Economics and Land Management were never going to be enough to run a football club properly.

Chop chop, snip snip Daniel. Better come up with master – master plan.

This one is falling apart at the seams, my old darling.

Just thought I would say ‘Hi” as I have nothing of material importance to contribute.

    Who does?

What is the material, who made it, does it cool the skin or is it rough like Velcro. Important to know whether material importance is important materially

  • Sid Trotter July 6, 2017 at 1:41 pm

Great news! We are reportedly after a 5`3″ 20 year old Venezuelan who plays in Chile. But won`t sign him until next summer.
Too bloody excited, now I`ve got to spend the rest of the day in wet pance.

Dominguez anyone? (whatever happened to him) sigh, I guess a small player costs less to keep than a strapping big fellah, less food, smaller bed, smaller kit, smaller wages – all adds up to a big saving for Levy

    • Freund or Foe July 6, 2017 at 1:47 pm

Ah, diminutive Dominguez. No bloody idea, probably sweeping chimneys somewhere.
Do have some news on another ex player, Ramon`s been a very naughty boy…..

      • Sid Trotter July 6, 2017 at 1:53 pm

Ah, Dominguez is manager of Huelva in Spain – one small step up on a very tall ladder up the managerial chain to us one day. Naughty Vega, these Swissies do not like sharing money – that’s why the fondue and raclette is so thick

        • Freund or Foe July 6, 2017 at 1:58 pm

Vega was always a better Streetfighter than he was a footballer. Or asset manager, so it seems.

I agree but I do like Matias Vecino from what Ive seen and apparently there was talk in the papers based on something out of Italy that we had inquired about him. Adrien Silva looks good too.

Rashford would be a good acquisition.

    Better than josh king.

Rashford is younger and a far better player and would thrive in Spurs squad.

Definitely better value at 50m than king.

Can’t believe I said that amount is good value in any walk of life but in the fantasy world of the premier league it would be.

I’m a big, big Rashford and and completely agree that he would thrive under Pochettino. I don’t think he’d ever consider leaving Utd, but if Mourinho continues to overlook him in favour of expensive imports who knows…

Nilly not saying that but surely to suggest that all alleged “misdemeanours” committed are purely confined to catholicism is incorrect.

            • gloster1861 July 6, 2017 at 11:25 am

Hmmm. The Catholic church has so many issues. The conduct of Pius XII and the Nazis just as an example.

Yes, he is an undoubted talent but as with other players at ManUre, he won’t get the best coaching and will be left in the shadow of expensive imports. Great shame.

      • melcyid July 6, 2017 at 11:11 am

Macron has just decreed that he is going to rule France like the Roman god Jupiter.and people think Trump has issues. Macron has married his mum.

        • gloster1861 July 6, 2017 at 11:16 am

He married his school teacher. Presumably he didn’t consider her actions abandoning her own children and husband to be morally questionable. On top of the whole subject of teachers screwing their students.

15 was the age of consent in france until recently and certainly when macron was losing his virginity to his teacher. the age is not the issue so much as the teacher abusing relationship and position of trust. if he were the female and that much younger there would be an uproar, even in france

IMO you’re talking out of your arse.
Lukaku is a big lump with next to no subtletly to his game. Deprive him of service and he struggles.
Man U should have built their attack around Rashford and Martial. As it is they’re almost certain to lose one of those two and if they’re not careful they’ll lose both of them (particularly if these Morata rumours have any substance).

McDonalds, KFC, BK all introduced new politeness/gratitude policies yet. Heard some guy in KFC once shouting at the poor guy behind the counter ‘give me that ting’ I said blood ‘give me that ting. I thought shit he’s rubbing the guy behind the counter . It’s was a can if Ting he was after. He tried to bowl past me on his way out with some extra fruit to go with it and while his hand was slipping down his side, he tried to get his hand in my pocket. I managed to catch his wrist with comical timing making a large slapping sound. He gave me a wink and carried in his bowl outside the shop and moved on 😂

Wembley is a pain, but I would guess EVERY single person who is willing to take a ST this year will renew next year. They will sell more than the 18k they stated and I reckon in total 45k plus.

For next year 45k plus 3k away fans, corporate seats and some general sale.

If you are lucky there might be some additional ST but unless you are right at the top of the waiting list there is no chance of getting one.

Here is the one chance you have and at worst you can resell the games you don’t want.

I have waited years and I will not risk missing out.

Hope everyone gets what they need.

He should have seen the bigger picture IMO. It’s a ball ache getting to Wembley. It ain’t our home. We can’t go to the same local pub/perform the same ritual etc so ST holders should have been compensate with truly cheaper tickets. Better a full stadium all paying £30 a game than a half empty one and the same matchday revenue.

Levy has decided that after filling Wembley twice in the UCL and selling out the Thursday night cup game he could fill Wembley no problem at standard prices when he could have given us fans at least a bit of a discount, probably based on the way the team finished off the season playing so well.
This is all to predictable from Daniel long pockets, wait now for the UCL draw, if we get Real Madrid or Barca and another top side he will go for the kill financially and it will cost us more…….
And don’t get me started on the Juve prices

    Whats the down side?

There is always time to lower them

The STs are fixed….and they will be pissed if the general sale tickets are given away to fill the ground. ST prices set the tone for the rest of the pricing

  • He is you know. July 5, 2017 at 8:13 pm

The opportunity to guarantee a ST for WHL2 was too good to turn down. It felt like I was being blackmailed tbh though as I doubt at 40 odd thousand on the list the opportunity wouldn’t come around again. I gave up my ST the season after we first qualified for CL due to other commitments but regret that massively as Stubhub came to town. The first game at WHL2 is a must be at game and I’d probably be happy to do £200 at least for a ticket, so factoring that in and the membership fee reducing the ticket outlay I couldn’t turn it down.

Do people not realise that Wembley holds 90k and they r offering people the chance to have a season ticket this season but not all season tickets will be taken to new stadium. With 90k capacity we could very easily have about 60-70k season ticket holders at Wembley. They r just offering everyone a chance to attend

    • Sexy Beast July 5, 2017 at 6:27 pm

Incorrect, 42,000 “season tickets will be sold” the rest will be season passes i.e. Temporary season tickets.
The new ground will have 42,000 ST

    • Dan Bramley July 5, 2017 at 8:18 pm

Site says if you take one this year you’re guaranteed one for next year.

I think the main issue is the credit option through V12 finance. I know 3 people who have applied (none have debts, all work, all own their homes) all got rejected for finance, it’s ridiculous for spurs to expect people to stump up north of £1k by Friday.

      • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? July 5, 2017 at 9:15 pm

Another example. The owners don’t give a shit about fans, they just want as much money as soon as possible.

  • Andreas July 5, 2017 at 5:50 pm

Must say I am a little surprised we haven’t sold lots more s tickets but if we don’t fill Wembley it will be embarrassing. Don’t think having thousands of tickets on general sale will be good for crowd segregation, especially with chelski and worst ham fans able to buy tickets. Daniel hasn’t thought this through properly, just saw money rolling in.

    • Freund or Foe July 5, 2017 at 5:56 pm

  • mattspurs July 5, 2017 at 5:05 pm

My mate forwarded me on the email. Lower tier has completely sold out (that’s 31,000 if you remove the away allocation). Add in the people that want padded seats in club Wembley (maybe 50% sold?) that would be 39,000 sold. That’s the 5th highest in the league based on last season’s numbers. (and they aren’t dishing them out at a massive discount like West Ham).
Clearly a bigger discount would have probably got higher numbers but almost 40,000 sold isn’t too bad.

  • gloster1861 July 5, 2017 at 5:04 pm

It bodes well for us casual attendees in picking up tickets for those two or three times I can meet up with my sons every season. Even better if the bald one has to cut prices to fill Wembley and the New Destination.

When in prior seasons season tickets were offered it was I have read only a 5 to one take up . I was 51956 on the waiting list I have mine now very happy . Anything above 50,000 the take up should be much better as I am sure people would have become members to get a ticket for new stadium and Wembley is a pice worth paying .

  • Andreas July 5, 2017 at 4:43 pm

Of our Daniel wants to sell more season tickets then I suggest he buys a top player asap (won’t happen) i remember when we signed Klinsman years ago, I nearly crashed the car on the m1.
The next day I went and bought a season ticket, you need to excite fans, not just milk them.

  • Bruxie July 5, 2017 at 4:37 pm

The numbers pertain to membership. We have members…paying £50/year…all around the globe. They don’t want season tickets for obvious reasons. Season ticket waiting list is NOT your membership number.

If you don’t take up your offer for Wembley it’s hardly likely that you will get one for WHL2.

    Who writes this stuff?

  • nick July 5, 2017 at 4:23 pm

Not everyone who becomes a member actually wants or maybe cannot afford a season ticket! I think that this year those who didn’t take up the option to buy a season ticket should drop down the list.Fairweather fans need not apply.if you don’t want Wembley why should you have the option again for the new stadium?

    • Harry Hotspur July 5, 2017 at 4:40 pm

So we need the waiting list Levy sold to HSBC policed?

        Wtf H.
Have you got a stand in?

  • Freund or Foe July 5, 2017 at 4:20 pm

I don`t get the numbers. Spurs had around 22,000 existing season ticket holders, and have issued another 18,000. The whole bottom tier has sold out, which seats 34,000. Middle and upper tiers look like they are about half sold.
Either they`re selling more than the 40k odd they suggested, or the areas that they say have sold out, aren`t.

    • MysteriousStranger July 5, 2017 at 4:29 pm

Surely there’s gonna be a few away fans in the bottom tier too?

      • Freund or Foe July 5, 2017 at 4:31 pm

Yerp, 5 blocks out of 44. So knock about 4k off. The numbers still don`t work.

  • Devonshirespur July 5, 2017 at 4:20 pm

Is this ST offers for next season at Wembely?

If so it might not be surprising that existing ST holders are not taking up the ticket and also that those on the list are doing the same as not everyone fancies the schlep up to Wembley

If I were on the waiting list i would continue to wait until the new WHL comes to pass.

My last visit to Wembely was a 5 hour round trip. More than double that to WHL.

    • Freund or Foe July 5, 2017 at 4:21 pm

Yes, for Wembley, but it gives you a guaranteed season ticket for the new ground too.

Ok. Gotta say logistics are a big factor for fans. I moved to Kent, spent 2 seasons making only half the matches cos of the travel and my kids etc so gave it up this season. No way would I go to Wembley +20 times a season, it’s a nightmare journey.

I think many fans will think that there will be loads on general sale and they’ll pick and choose what games and when is convenient for them.

Problem for me was the ST prices are too high this season. Same £ per game on average despite the disruption of going to Wembley.

It’s been poor by Levy / THFC but I don’t think it will effect the take up in the new stadium.

        • Freund or Foe July 5, 2017 at 4:32 pm

No cup games either, 19 games only.

          We’re making progress, eh?

          • Devonshirespur July 5, 2017 at 4:55 pm

We’re trying to fill a 90k temporary home a very inconvenient journey away from our actual home. Of course there will be some difficulties enticing everyone in. This situation can’t be read as some sort of barometer for how the new stadium will be welcomed by fans. Hopefully it does hammer home the point that pricing is key. If Wembley STs were 20-25% cheaper than normal take up would have been massive but Levy has seen an opportunity milk it and in these times of continuing austerity more fans will be taking the chance to watch it on a dodgy streams rather than spend the afternoon traveling and queuing for hours to see 90minutes football.

    • sb66 July 5, 2017 at 4:23 pm

Its a huge risk to not buy one if you have the chance. I wouldn’t risk not getting one for the new stadium. Its worth taking the Wembley season ticket to guarantee a place at the NWHL and get priority on seating slots.

      • Freund or Foe July 5, 2017 at 4:42 pm

        That was my thinking.

        • Devonshirespur July 5, 2017 at 4:46 pm

          That was Levy’s thinking.

          • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? July 5, 2017 at 4:48 pm

            Exactly.

          • Freund or Foe July 5, 2017 at 4:49 pm

Of course. Maximise sales, that`s his job.

            • Devonshirespur July 5, 2017 at 4:59 pm

He should have seen the bigger picture IMO. It’s a ball ache getting to Wembley. It ain’t our home. We can’t go to the same local pub/perform the same ritual etc so ST holders should have been compensate with truly cheaper tickets. Better a full stadium all paying £30 a game than a half empty one and the same matchday revenue.

              • Freund or Foe July 5, 2017 at 5:04 pm

It won`t be half empty though Dev, at least not for most games. He`ll sell the 40k season tickets, or very close to it.

  • Freund or Foe July 5, 2017 at 4:14 pm

    Got mine. Tee hee.

  • Camus July 5, 2017 at 4:12 pm

The Goons have spent £52mill on Lacazette and are selling Giroud to the Toffees for £20mill? I’m sure Giroud generally keeps Lacazette out of the France team. Seems like shocking business 😂

    • Devonshirespur July 5, 2017 at 4:24 pm

Lacazette scored less goals in more minutes than Harry Kane in a crappier uncompetitive league. I’m not convinced he’s all that and in a market where Real want £75m for Morata,
and Bournemouth £30m for King, £52m seems cheap for a top goalscorer.

  • Andreas July 5, 2017 at 4:12 pm

If this is the case, we could be in serious trouble regarding funding and sponsorship of the new stadium. The banks will be a little nervous that we won’t sell as many season tickets for the new whl.
Why didn’t the owners reduce the season tickets as a gesture of good will to the fans. Levy calculated wrong. It’s one thing selling tickets for the cl, but expecting fans to pay high prices coupled with extra expense of travel etc for a whole season is wrong.
I do think the new stadium will sell out though.

  • BERNARD July 5, 2017 at 4:09 pm

got my renewal season ticket today good luck to all who are trying to apply for the first time it must be like trying to win the lottery i got my first in 73/74 season if you are lucky never let it go cos you will not get it back

    • nick July 5, 2017 at 4:28 pm

Had a ST in the 90s had to make the choice of paying for the home we’d just housed the new baby in or watching football🙄 For 20 years I still don’t know if I made the right decision 😂

      • BERNARD July 5, 2017 at 6:14 pm

i know how you feel Nick I was lucky in 1973 my ticket was only £22.80 north stand upper mortgage was about £40 a month i dont think i could have done it these days they do play on our heart strings

  • Deano July 5, 2017 at 3:50 pm

This was always going to be a debacle.
It’s easy to stick yourself on a list to say “yeah i’d ‘ave a season ticket but I’m 50,000th in the queue. So what chance ‘ave I got ??”
When the time comes to actually stump up cold hard case it’s another story…..

    • Harry Hotspur July 5, 2017 at 4:11 pm

      Fans want tangible success.

Not glacial improvement in an investment portfolio.

The sooner Levy falls on his own sword and lets professionals run Spurs the better.

‘But, but I charged them all a fiver each!’

Mate. You’re a tool. Fuck off.

      • Deano July 5, 2017 at 4:33 pm

Agree. Fans do want success. What I wouldn’t give for some silverware. Champions league Pah! Give me the FA Cup any day.
Bored arguing about Levy with blinkered fans. Penny wise. Pound foolish.
Get “oven-ready” players in and get them in now.
