Cracking 360 Drone Video

By The Boy -

Thanks to Mr Av for this crystal clear drone footage which provides an hysterics free appraisal of where the stadium is, externally at least.

As you can see, work continues on the east side of the stadium with the cladding being installed.

There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile,

He found a crooked sixpence against a crooked stile;

He bought a crooked cat which caught a crooked mouse,

And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

The Cheese Room denial leaked by the club via The Guardian has caused ripples of inertia throughout the fanbase.

I don’t think anyone actually though there was a specific hall, or chamber of cheese, after all the original spec for the H Club clearly listed sommeliers and cheese waiters.

Just as the Wine Jockeys would have a cellar, the Fromage Boys would certainly be requiring of a dedicated pantry at least. But you’d never be able to physically sit down and eat in it. Oh, hang on, there’s a business idea, eh, Daniel?

Quite frankly I don’t give a edam.

Exactly. They spent great effort in designing the spiral framework only to put a dead straight hand rail down the middle

Metal frames are always better than plastic. Ken&chel council now realize this.

Yes, it’s like the intern was let loose on the Lilywhite house walkway…

And probably an intern who has more of an interest in doing a gap year than meaningfully committing to architecture.

Great call. My constant refrain is that it all looks so bloody dated. Did he get a deal on 1990’s aluminium glazing metal frames

The spiral glass walk way at the Royal Ballet School in Covent Garden is an example of this ‘feature’ done well and with elegance and architectural panache.

I heard him interviewed on the radio plugging that.

Asked how it was selling, he replied: ‘It was the word of mouth that killed it’.

It’s awful.

I don’t get it, because the inside of the stadium is very good, and very well thought out.

This looks like a cobbled accident.

I wasn’t offended brother, each to their own. A bowls a bowls a bowl its about the materials they use and how they use them. The alloys the stone the glass the brick the rusty iron. The copper. The lines the flow with loads of chimney pots to be seen. Dial house Percy house Warrington house makes it for me. TOTTENHAM have done a fantastic job restoring percy house. Not finished yet.

That walkway is the naffest part of the whole thing, yet they made a feature out of it?!

Goes to show that no amount of smart arse architects and smug designers can replace the history and the culture of the club.

The ‘Founded 1882’ etc emblazoned on the tiling around the bottom of the stadium just seems a bit empty and desperate within the context of it all. The Emptycrates is an equally soulless bowl made out of concrete and glass. Levy loves that place and clearly wanted one of his own…

Ah Tappa, didn’t mean to offend you buddy. You’ve done a great job no doubt. Not nice to be unappreciated – not what I’m saying.

My beef is with the architects – as that’s closer to my profession (design). I could say it’s all about opinions as to whether the aesthetics are right or wrong. For me the aesthetics are wrong. somebody signed off on the design – likely a committee – and as a result I don’t believe we have an iconic structure in our hands.

Overall I think it looks pretty impressive af far as modern stadiums go. If you take a look at most modern stadiums around the world, most of them look a bit weird because they’re all a modern structure.

Unless you flatten the ground a around it, start again it and create architecture that fits with it, its always gonna be a challenge.

You either build these things way out of town with space around like Stratford or Wembley or make a bold statement with it within a 200 year old environment.

These Norman Foster buildings in the City etc are fairly jarring to look at at first but over time they become part of the way it is.

I’m no fan of ENIC but if we were ever going to build a new stadium which all bigger clubs will do eventually then I’m pleased it’s in the same place as the old Lane. That is its main saving grace for me…

On the apex house project in TOTTENHAM the concrete panels come with the bricks put on them 2″thick brick 3 metre square panels. The crane just drops them into place. They can narf knock em up fast nowadays.

Just looking at that photo of the walkway from Lilly White House to the Mother Ship, you just wonder how much they must have paid to the architect to come up with that awful design!

I go past it a lot, which is why I’ve always maintained since the summer that we would not play a game there this season. We won’t…

This supposed ‘hold up’ and citing of ‘safety systems’ and something vague about fire alarms etc is complete and utter bullshit and lies from the club.

Levy always knew it would be two seasons at Wembley but to keep the fans and crucially sponsors and the media’s expectations managed, he’s drip fed the bad news.

The partial video screens integrated into the cladding are a bad idea. It looks poor, and is an ineffective way of incorporating a video screen as you lose 25% of the content being displayed/that could be displayed on it. It’s poor design. Much better would have been to have the whole curved screen integrated into the exterior. This is a ridiculous solution.

Bugger, couldn’t help myself and clicked on the video. Good to see the stadium in context to its surroundings. Gives you a sense of scale and, for a non-resident like myself, the local area. First impressions – sticks out like the mutts nuts. On reflection – in a word ‘Eyesore.’

Looks a bit of an eyesore to me as well, Panama Paul; it doesn’t look very distinguished on the outside for sure, judging by those pictures. Actually, one can easily feel a revulsion towards the whole thing – football clubs putting up their billion pound stadiums while much of the local populace can’t rub two pennies together.

Watching the video also gives a good view of the housing around the stadium. Just wondering how long it will be until they are moved to the ravenside retail park site.
