This has all the hallmarks of the Justin Kluivert business; where Spurs agreed a transfer in principal with Ajax, but nobody told the player.

Gladys believes that we have held preliminary talks with Aston Villa.

Believe it or not, if there is a deal to be done then Tottenham want get it done sharpish.

Presumably because the price is an extremely sensitive issue and we don’t want to get embroiled in a bidding war over what os still a largely unproven kid.

To this extent, should this go through, the fees/add-ons etc are likely to be as ‘undisclosed’.

Make no mistake, Aston Villa Football are perilously close to going to the wall.

They do not wish to sell Grealish, however their failure to make it through the quagmire of the playoffs and out of the Championship has just about finished them off.

I’ve made my concerns about the boy clear.

Beyond the occasional sublime dribbling there is little else there.

Jack Grealish could be another French lesson.

Jaques N’Grealish anyone?

Why the f didnt we fo for the Spanish flyer watford just bought for “with add ons it could be as much as 15 million” now that is a bargain

    • Gloster1861 June 13, 2018 at 8:42 pm

The Golden Player of U19 Euros 2012 tournament. Gerard Deulofeu.

If he wasn’t good enough for Everton etc etc.

      • archiisbald June 13, 2018 at 9:03 pm

        Steal at less than 15

  • archiisbald June 13, 2018 at 8:34 pm

    Shelvey

  • archiisbald June 13, 2018 at 8:33 pm

    I would sign him

  • JohnSpursMan June 13, 2018 at 8:10 pm

Flinging shit to see what sticks…..save the money and use it to get someone class over the line.

Perhaps it’s to do with registering enough English players….doubtful

    • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 8:15 pm

Anyway you slice it – it’s bride on budget

  • BrizzleSpur June 13, 2018 at 7:30 pm

The only perspective that counts is Pochetino’s. If he’s looked this guy over and did a little nod then that’s good enough for me.

I would also add that I totally agree that there’s some big shoes to step into and I don’t believe this is is that guy. But we do need squad players; Decent footballers who would see our bench as a step-up. I’m thinking big picture, here.

    • Gloster1861 June 13, 2018 at 7:36 pm

The suspicion is that he’s suddenly being wanted has conveniently coincided with Villa’s financial crisis. It’s possible Grealish was on a list, but I doubt he was anywhere near the top.

Let’s hope that’s not the truth.

      • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 7:41 pm

Money is 100% the mover here

        • Gloster1861 June 13, 2018 at 7:47 pm

          Follow the money.

          • SeattleSpursGuy June 13, 2018 at 7:48 pm

            Good rule to follow

          • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 8:16 pm

I found my self using that line several times this week in relation to other matters.

That and ‘he took his eye off the fakin money’…

        • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 13, 2018 at 8:10 pm

          Absobloodylutely

  • Gloster1861 June 13, 2018 at 7:20 pm

At 22 years old and if he’s bought for 15 million, he’s a far superior acquisition to Sissoko. And I doubt he’ll get 95k per week either.

And we’ll get that money back if we sell him on.

    • archiisbald June 13, 2018 at 8:34 pm

Right in at 15 do it mow

  • Elevenstonedidiots June 13, 2018 at 7:16 pm

My concern is that Levy sees Grealish as Dembeles replacement.

    • Matt June 13, 2018 at 7:18 pm

He’s Marcus Edwards replacement. We’ll need a non playing haircut with attitude when he’s gone.

  • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 6:53 pm

    I found this earlier.

It’s a decent enough piece on Grealish using some sophisticated stats – but the author cannot accept/get his head around just how weak JG is as a footballer.

All this ‘oh Poch’ll sort it out’ stuff is at best wishful thinking.

    Grealish isn’t 17.

In fact our antsy teenagers have just been binned by Poch. Edwards and Onomah are flapping in the breeze right now…

    • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 13, 2018 at 7:01 pm

Levy must finance this Goebbels guff.

      • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 7:07 pm

        😆

      • Gloster1861 June 13, 2018 at 8:49 pm

Sissoko appears to be our most accurate passer of the ball in those stats.

        Qué?

    • Matt June 13, 2018 at 7:14 pm

Definitely N’Grealish. He’s nearly 23 and he’s found his level. By his age Alli, Ericsson, Dier, Kane, Winks had all been performing at EPL level. Can’t see why we’d waste even 15m on him.

      • East Stand June 13, 2018 at 7:24 pm

Spot on Matt, we are still waiting for Wilshite to live up to the hype and he’s almost 30. Walcott is another example of young English players at big clubs getting special treatment.

Dele Alli actually looks on a different planet if you compare them…

    • East Stand June 13, 2018 at 7:21 pm

He’s probably worth a punt and seeing at the deal will be full of add ons and structured stuff (Levy style), if his Spurs career ends in a pile of vomit outside a West End nightclub we can flog him to the spammers where he can get coked up with someone like Jack Wilshite in a few seasons time…

This is all bit of a non story, Grealish? So what?

Yeah we sign him or we don’t, big deal… We need to step it up and although some more ‘development players’ for Poch is logical, we need quality through the door and some experience to balance things out.

To this end, selling Toby is completely nonsensical, what would any Champions League club with ambition do that?

      • East Stand June 13, 2018 at 7:22 pm

        *why would…

      • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 7:44 pm

To this end, selling Toby is completely nonsensical, what would any Champions League club with ambition do that?

        Because we’re bogus?

        • archiisbald June 13, 2018 at 8:37 pm

What if he wants to leave?

          • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 8:52 pm

Buy another beer and get him a in taxi. I think you might be your type!

            • archiisbald June 13, 2018 at 9:04 pm

I prefer lube at the other end

  • Willie! June 13, 2018 at 6:39 pm

Rather take a punt on James McClean or Chris Wood for the same price if we’re doing the “decent prospect Poch might be able to develop” thing. We need a RB,DM, backup striker – not another mediocre AM.

    • East Stand June 13, 2018 at 7:30 pm

I wouldn’t waste the club’s time and money on supposed English ‘wonder kids’, unless of course the plan is to hoover them up for nothing and sell them on.

      Whatever next!??

  • Ronan June 13, 2018 at 6:34 pm

15m would be ok, as he’s got more about him than the nmen and would at least be another body for league cup and fa cup games.

    • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 6:35 pm

More interesting – potentially – than Onomah etc…

      • Ronan June 13, 2018 at 6:37 pm

Yeh, undoubtedly. The rumour is Josh and CCV would be loaned to villa to soften the blow.

        • SeattleSpursGuy June 13, 2018 at 6:39 pm

Yeah, I heard that rumor too, but Villa probably need cash more than loanees on the books.

          • Ronan June 13, 2018 at 6:43 pm

Levy’s apparently told them this is the final offer, take it or leave it, which seems fair enough.

    • Teddyboy June 13, 2018 at 6:42 pm

And he would certainly rip the balls off Livermore, Mason, holtby, carroll, bentaleb, the lot, wonderful. We could not possibly get more average, vanilla or indifferent than signing this absolutely nondescript nonsense just for the sake of “a good deal, and poch will develop him”. NO HE WON’T. it is a bland nothingness, without potential.

      • Ronan June 13, 2018 at 6:44 pm

I would agree, Teddy. Not a top 3 or CL standard player from what I’ve seen.

      • Tappaspur June 13, 2018 at 8:26 pm

Bentileb is different class to the others you mentioned. Realy good fooballer

  • Teddyboy June 13, 2018 at 6:25 pm

N’Grealish if there ever was one, thank you but NO thank you, let him and that other guy from Everton, Cee Lo Barkley or something (**** you) play some backgammon and pocket billiards on the racist second team loan outlet benches together… stay away

    • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 6:31 pm

      😆

  • Accy June 13, 2018 at 6:20 pm

    (As Hartley’s not here…)

At the end of the day it is what it is and there’s sweet fuck all we can do about it.

    • Accy June 13, 2018 at 6:21 pm

Would have preferred Maddison by a country mile.

      • OrganicPaper June 13, 2018 at 6:25 pm

Karol Linetty is a very good Polish CM who I feel would be a great and affordable (ish) replacement.
I’m assuming he is in their WC squad and I think he will surprise a few.

        • Accy June 13, 2018 at 6:28 pm

Going for Home Grown additions, Maddison is a star of the future. Probably didn’t want to be Eriksen’s understudy… he’s been dressed up as too expensive – Watch him go to Leicester for £18m or something.

          • archiisbald June 13, 2018 at 8:40 pm

Food call and he will leave norwich this summer

  • Flynnbob June 13, 2018 at 6:00 pm

Reports that Dembele is off to China for 60 mil.Now I love Mous and on his day he is our most impactful player ,but 60 mil for a 30 yr old who’s engine is blown.Yes please

    • SeattleSpursGuy June 13, 2018 at 6:16 pm

If that’s true, it’d be daft not to take it.

    • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 13, 2018 at 6:19 pm

Get that and that alone is enough to be reinvested. No more mucking about in the blue sticker ailse.

    • OrganicPaper June 13, 2018 at 6:22 pm

Id snap their hands off for 60 large!

  • Nick June 13, 2018 at 5:59 pm

So if we have to play any games at Wembley next season could levy & conger sued for breach of contract by season ticket holders ? He will not like issuing refunds

    • Nick June 13, 2018 at 6:00 pm

      Conger ??? Co get

  • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 13, 2018 at 5:52 pm

What do have then to show he’s worth a place in a Champions League side? Let’s see….ahhh, the Play off final. Big game. How did that go for him? Hmmmm, zero impact and they drew a blank and lost. Why is this an option…………..? COS ITS CHEAP. The drill is clear by now and no amount of sit downs and declarations of “bravery” is going to change that regimented drill. The worlds most expensive soccer ticket eh? All the very best.

    • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 13, 2018 at 5:55 pm

      *what do we

  • Nick June 13, 2018 at 5:49 pm

So our academy production line of £30-£40m players is so backed up we have to buy players of this ilk🙄

    • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 5:53 pm

      In one.

As previously broadcast on a daily basis – ‘there ain’t nuffink there’

  • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 13, 2018 at 5:43 pm

Can you imagine him and Dele in the same 11?? It be like a studio Ghibli movie. Disembodied whisps flitting in and out of reality…

    • OrganicPaper June 13, 2018 at 6:26 pm

      Nice analogy! 😂

      • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 13, 2018 at 8:17 pm

        👍

  • SeattleSpursGuy June 13, 2018 at 5:41 pm

I don’t hate the thought of buying Grealish if the reported 15 mill is the price. If Poch thinks he can develop the kid, fine by me. But there is no way this is the ‘brave’ sort of move Poch was talking about.

  • Flynnbob June 13, 2018 at 5:40 pm

It’s a no lose for us,if he comes and performs then we have another Dele ,if he’s a flop the prices on England midfielders would be of a price to a least get our money back .

  • Nick June 13, 2018 at 5:38 pm

I think for £15m it’s worth a gamble for levy,if he gets ten games & plays decently then that’s a profit when sold in two seasons.

    • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 13, 2018 at 5:39 pm

      That’s our summer blockbuster though.😟

      • Nick June 13, 2018 at 5:47 pm

That’s the fear.or there’s a blockbuster coming & Grealish is just the stocking filler

        • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 13, 2018 at 5:57 pm

I think the blockbuster was Kane’s contract.

          • Flynnbob June 13, 2018 at 5:59 pm

With Kane’s wage increase, does this open the door for bale and his wages

            • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 13, 2018 at 6:04 pm

Can’t see Bale coming. Unless we do a ridiculous part exchange with one of our stars. Don’t want that.

  • OrganicPaper June 13, 2018 at 5:28 pm

At least the French much had a air of mystique about them before they arrived…the excitement of wondering if we found a hidden gem. With Jack its all there to see. In wonderful technicolor vomit and reflected in the little canisters of laughing gas that litter his pikey bedroom.

    • melcyid June 13, 2018 at 6:00 pm

      harsh but fair

      • OrganicPaper June 13, 2018 at 6:18 pm

Perhaps an overreaction but needless to say id not be happy if we signed him!

    • Harry Hotspur June 13, 2018 at 6:56 pm

Hahahahaha. It’s funny cos it’s true.
