Ex-England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has retired from the game, his former club Burnley have announced.

Robinson, 37, made 375 top-flight appearances for Leeds, Tottenham, Blackburn and the Clarets, as well as featuring for England on 41 occasions.

He signed a new one-year deal at Turf Moor last summer and Burnley confirmed that he had now decided to call time on his career.

Robinson was a hit at Spurs. He was part of the League Cup winning side that Levy sold off before the team coach had cleared the Wembley traffic.

‘England England’s number one!’  was the cry. For a good while he deserved all the praise. As we’ve discussed before, the decline of goalies is never a pleasing spectacle. One minute you’re out of your office, the next, you’re out of office.

Good luck Robbo.

Never saw it myself, couldn’t deal with crosses and had this annoying habit of pushing shots back out into dangerous areas. A goal from Ivan Campo, where Robinson palmed the first effort straight back out to his feet, springs to mind.

he used to watch good shots from outside the box go in,think he thought he was a spectator.Enjoyed him in our team though,37yrs reckon if he cut the pie munching he would have had another 3 yrs.Hope he finds some thing good to carry on with. best wishes to the man.

Spoke to a company about engraving my Shelfside bricks today, turns out the chap is in the process of bidding for the paving contract at NWHL, so I laughed and said I hoped he wouldn’t have to negotiate directly with Levy.
    Hmmm, small world…

H does Gladys ‘the car bonnet diva’ know whether there is any truth in the Kovacic rumour?

    • caveman July 17, 2017 at 6:28 pm

There’s truth in the rumour because it exists, but it’s a fake story. Can ou imagine some people believing that we could turn a Real Madrid players head when the club still ant him. Fucking laughable.

      • Caspurs♿️ July 17, 2017 at 6:39 pm

I was thinking more about whether we were really interested in him.

    • Harry Hotspur July 17, 2017 at 6:44 pm

Zip. Which may mean we signed him yesterday.

      • Caspurs♿️ July 17, 2017 at 6:45 pm

We signed Zippy yesterday!! What about George, Bungle and Geoff?

  • Sexy Beast July 17, 2017 at 6:18 pm

Can anyone tell me why the obsession with this Ante Coric fella with some on here?

    • Caspurs♿️ July 17, 2017 at 6:20 pm

Show reels I believe may be at the root of these obsessions.

      • Sexy Beast July 17, 2017 at 6:20 pm

        From a pub league?

        • Caspurs♿️ July 17, 2017 at 6:23 pm

I think he’s a prospect but nothing more, don’t forget we got rat boy from the same league. As far as I’ve heard, the boy has a bit of an issue with an enlarged ego.

    • mystic arnold July 17, 2017 at 6:24 pm

Another player destroyed by the media one ,mistake plus he did nt ever play for one of the teams the media wet themselves over

      • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? July 17, 2017 at 6:26 pm

Yep. That bobble coulda happened to anyone. Totally not his fault and suddenly he was shit according to England.

  • TheCincinnatiYid July 17, 2017 at 4:21 pm

Good luck to him. Grandad Friedel is making some coin as a decent commentator over here. Caught him the other night. Knowledgeable and easy to listen to.

    • mikespurs July 17, 2017 at 4:31 pm

      Anybody but lexy will do

  • Still Nil Nil July 17, 2017 at 4:02 pm

    Good keeper was our robbo.

Hans segers the ex Wimbledon keeper who came in as GK coach midway thru Robbos tenure did robbo no favours at all.
He started bulking up and became less mobile which started his slow decline at Spurs.

Such a shame cos he could’ve had another 5 years at least with Spurs.

    • baz July 17, 2017 at 4:18 pm

If he was a few inches taller he would have been a really good keeper

  • richspurs July 17, 2017 at 3:59 pm

Seems like no news = good news = nobody of substance looking to leave. Yaay

  • mikespurs July 17, 2017 at 3:56 pm

I guess the world class training facility with a cheese room wasnt enough to lure him back. Shame

    • Harry Hotspur July 17, 2017 at 4:09 pm

Well, Spurs cannot compete financially with anyone 🤣

      • mikespurs July 17, 2017 at 4:14 pm

        Sad but true

      • Caspurs♿️ July 17, 2017 at 4:25 pm

Not even Leyton Orient?! How did it get to this?

  • RecaroN17 July 17, 2017 at 3:48 pm

Love Robbo a decent keeper and seems like a great bloke.

  • 89Spurs 👁 July 17, 2017 at 3:04 pm

He did us proud, when he was at Spurs.

  • Nick July 17, 2017 at 3:04 pm

Typical English keeper.good shot stopper unless the shot was from 20yrds plus.Still, was better than most we’ve had

    • Caspurs♿️ July 17, 2017 at 3:13 pm

He made up for it with the goals he scored…

      • MysteriousStranger July 17, 2017 at 4:39 pm

I was there! If he scored more than one, I wasn’t there for all of them.

        • Caspurs♿️ July 17, 2017 at 6:09 pm

I think he only scored the one goal, and I wasn’t there.

          • mystic arnold July 17, 2017 at 6:32 pm

I think I read he scored once for us and once for Leeds
