Everton boss Ronnie Koeman has confirmed that Everton were genuinely in for Moussa Sh*tssoko.
I have to admit I was unconvinced that the Toffees were interested in the player, but I guess the lease purchase deal made the big plinth accessible to a club with notoriously limited funds.
“Yes, but OK, if you look at the rest of the team they have big competition in that area,” Koeman said. “But it was a big signing for them.
We tried also to sign the player and he chose Tottenham, but he is not really involved in many of the games. I don’t know but it was a big signing. You ask Pochettino why he is not involved, I don’t know.”
“If you make that kind of signing, for that money, you expect (them to be playing regularly). Even if I sign a player for that money and he is not normally starting then, yes. I don’t know maybe fitness? I don’t know.”
Koeman is being incredibly respectful to Spurs here.
Sissoko hasn’t featured much and when he has, he’s only confirmed that we bought a lemon.
