Maybe it’s the Interlull, maybe its because I wasn’t dropped on my head as a baby, but I’m finding the volume of wordage swilling out of Hotspur Way increasingly depressing.

Less talk, more action.

For the love of the sweet baby Jesus. who amongst you is actually reading this garbage?! ‘…my commitment is complete here and I would like to stay here. But I don’t want to think past tomorrow…’

I won’t be buying Pochettino’s book and I suggest that if you really have £1o or whatever they want for it  burning so strongly in your pocket – then you look up your nearest night shelter (there’s more than one if you live somewhere big) and drop it in.

A few plates of warm food on a cold day will do more for the world than you sat on the toilet reading this worthless nonsense.

“To be able to write some history for this amazing club, to start to discover a different style of club, a different kind of project. To be here to me is more than a pleasure. I am so happy and my family and that is why I am so proud.”

“Of course my commitment with the club and Daniel is complete and of course then that depends more on them than me, to be here for 20 years,” Pochettino added. “But of course I think Tottenham is a big club with massive potential. After three-and-a-half years we are always growing and growing.

“I feel so well, helping the club, helping the fans, helping the players and I am so happy here. But you cannot guess what will happen in the future, but my commitment is complete here and I would like to stay here. But I don’t want to think past tomorrow.”

    From the Irish Independent

    https://www.independent.ie/sport/soccer/world-cup/im-surprised-he-is-employed-by-the-fai-peter-schmeichel-has-a-pop-at-roy-keane-and-jack-charltons-irish-side-36306456.html

Christian Eriksen is widely acknowledged as the biggest threat to Ireland’s World Cup hopes, but according to Schmeichel, the Tottenham play-maker has “disappeared” in 60 of his 73 internationals.

So that’s the good news: the only world-class player on either side in tomorrow night’s play-off first leg delivers for his country less than 20pc of the time.

The bad news is that Schmeichel reckons that most of Eriksen’s influential displays have come since Age Hareide took over as Denmark manager in March last year.

Asked if he was worried that Eriksen could be nullified by Ireland, Manchester United legend Schmeichel said: “Christian has played about 75 times for Denmark and that’s happened about 60 times. He’s just disappeared.

“But that was under a different manager, a different system. He has been played out of position and has been dictated to play in a certain way, which has been very difficult for him.

“But now it’s different, now Christian is more free in his role. He can roam around and play his game, and that’s worked really well for Christian in the last four month

    • David Dillenberg November 10, 2017 at 11:17 am

      “Butterfly”Eriksen, disappeared. Surely not!!

    • ronwol196061 November 10, 2017 at 11:17 am

Maybe Poch needs to see why, when restricted Eriksen disappears.and give him a free role

It’s strange Horny but you’re right. International football seems a bit different on the captaincy issue.

Captaining a club seems to be more reliant on gravitas and influence as a personality. Captaining your country can be more about popularity in the group, leading by example and being a good talker on the pitch. You do not need to do it 24/7 either…

Australia has treated its own people so badly that it’s considered a systematic erasure of a whole people. Aboriginal society has been destroyed. People should go on about it as much as Israel.

Can i ask you a question – are you australian?

    • Syd November 9, 2017 at 11:04 pm

Doesn’t really answer the question – I read on here a lot about the UK, Haringey, residents, local politics, businesses and many of your local and national issues. I do not comment as I am not of the same knowledge level as most on here.
For the information of Glos, I have eyes, ears and a conscience as well but in this case more than likely a little more experience of these matters than Waddle making comments like Australians are considered to have caused a systemic erasure of a whole people. Considered by who? “Erasure of a whole people”???My goodness.

I only asked if Waddle was an Australian, Glos makes a rather inane reply that adds nothing but more of a slight on myself.
Happy to discuss the issue of Australian aborigines anytime.

      • gloster1861 November 10, 2017 at 8:09 am

        • Syd 😎 November 10, 2017 at 9:55 am

perhaps you might recall it was the British and the Europeans who were responsible for the demise of the Tasmanian Aborigines including not only shooting them and stealing their children but also the disease that was brought with them.
The people we know today as Australians didn’t come along till much later.
We have for the last so many decades tried to compensate in so many different ways and measures including free medicals education cars houses and welfare.
The statement made by Waddle was just absolutely ignorant and ridiculous

        • Syd 😎 November 10, 2017 at 10:00 am

If you are British tell me if you are ashamed of what the British did to the Aborigines. There were no real Australians at that time only British convicts, soldiers and governers.

As long as it isn’t current day sportswear, you don’t wear it to games or while watching Spurs play then I can’t see a problem with red clothes etc. Wear your THFC boxers under it, that will banish any evil Woolwich spirits attempting to squat with the red…

        dilly will be ecstatic

    • gloster1861 November 9, 2017 at 6:10 pm

Are they training at Hotspur Way as previously? If so, Edwards probably wandered into the wrong training group.

Since I have zero respect for Gareth Southgate as a manager, I have no interest in who he picks so long as he doesn’t screw with Spurs. IMHO he will be a total fuck up in Russia.

      • East Stand November 9, 2017 at 7:40 pm

Probably, but then again even the best managers in the world turn to dog crap the moment they attempt the England job and Southgate was hardly top notch in the first place…

        • gloster1861 November 9, 2017 at 7:45 pm

This seems to be the case. This time round the FA went for someone who was cheap and dog crap to begin with. Marking time?

          • East Stand November 9, 2017 at 7:56 pm

This Marcus Edwards thing, I’m sure he’s known to Southgate from the youth set up with England and as you say if they’re training at Hotspur Way perhaps it was an easy thing to do.

His reported behaviour problems and problems taking instruction could mean he’ll end up on the scrap heap by the age of 24 despite his talent. Look at a player like Bostock, he even regrets the way he behaved when he was younger but if you get it wrong when you have huge chance when you’re young then you’ll get nowhere despite the talent.

Walcott is the opposite, he was a goodie two shoes who displayed some talent and pace and managed to charm Sven and Wenger into believing he was the golden boy and he’s been living off that miscalculation ever since…

Maybe I’m super naive but I don’t think Poch was trying to leave the door open with his “cannot guess what will happen in the future” and “not thinking past tomorrow” comments. To me that’s just: he’s focused on what he’s doing and in life you can never be 100% sure of anything.

He’s repeatedly stated how happy he is at Spurs and as well as all the other positivity in this latest quote, he only last month said:

“I am very happy in Tottenham. I would love to stay 10 or 15 years here. It’s always up to the owner or chairman to decide if you’re a manager for a short time or long period. If he wants, I would like to sign that contract.”

  • ronwol196061🇨🇦 November 9, 2017 at 5:21 pm

    All the best Nilly!

As to Poch,he really has leverage and where he has brought us gives him licence to dictate a little bit of what he needs..so this finely political statement doesnt hurt him or us.I leaves the door open and the pressure on Levy.
    This is good

    My Lords, Ladies and Blogmeister.

I have just been catching up on the past few blogs and saw that generous blog H created for me.

To say I’m humbled is a massive understatement.

I can’t thank thank you all individually as my phone will capitulate if I even attempted it, so I hope you don’t mind if I do it all in this post.

I’ve only been on here several years and had my moments of angst with some of you, but none of it was meant to be disrespectful.

To receive the comments on that blog gave me a lump in my throat and makes me realise how lucky I am to know you either personally (thanks to H) and on here.

Thank you all for some amazing words with so much thought and passion behind them.
Believe me they are replicated back to you.

Hopefully we can get more of us together next year.

‘my commitment is complete here and I would like to stay here. But I don’t want to think past tomorrow…’

This could be construed as ‘ my work is done and tomorrow who knows’

Being Mauricio’s Spanish translator, I see this as ‘ I am fully committed here and I do not want talk about anyone else’

    Seems ok to me.

  • TheCincinnatiYid November 9, 2017 at 4:30 pm

But you cannot guess what will happen in the future, but my commitment is complete here and I would like to stay here. But I don’t want to think past tomorrow

Of course Mauricio would be a sap to say anything else. His longevity is not totally dependent on his own efforts. The ownership could change; the players could tire of his stringent demands; the fans and the various blogs could turn on him. RM or Barcelona could make him an offer he simply couldn’t refuse.

The only way to stay in a PL job long long term is to keep winning. Sir Alex was smart to get out when he did. Arsene should have left two years ago. The best is behind him.

Clearly Pochettino is doing a splendid job at Spurs, and I hope he will stay for many years. But no one know what the future will bring. And it will be much easier for him to start winning pots if his good pal Daniel opens the purse or the team is sold to someone more generous.

    Love all. Trust few.

I saw that ending of the statement by Pochettino and thought, you crafty sod, in face there’s no long term commitment as he says anything can happen. Get out clause or a sly warning to Levy that he might just fall in love with another chairman if he doesn’t play ball. Why can’t we just have loyalty, fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

    • James147 November 9, 2017 at 4:27 pm

I don’t see that as Poch being crafty, I think he’s just being real — you never know what will happen in future. I think he’s coming more from the angle of I might be sacked one day: “that depends more on them than me, to be here for 20 years”. I think he’s genuinely settled at Spurs and would like to stay long term.
