Spurs beaten聽home and away by a relatively pedestrian Belgian side whilst we degenerated into an official bothering mess of grumbles and face pulling.

Even the sainted Harry Winks was drawn into the complaining void.

How did we get there is the first question.

We got to Wembley by approaching聽Tottenham Hotspur Football Club as聽if it was a brand of lemonade that we wanted placed in a certain spot in the marketplace.

So instead of being sold in a pound shop –聽聽we worked on our branding and had aspirations to be on the shelf at Waitrose.

The teeny weeny problem was, that the lemonade tasted like piss.

Wembley is a horrible venue, designed to simply be tolerated by two sets of fans in order to win a trophy. Nobody in their right mind would use it as a regular base.

THFC and the pompous w*nkers at the THST went all out to secure Wembley.

All we have been fed is this endless diet of ‘sell out’, ‘record attendances’. This guff is completely meaningless and wholly unsatisfying.

Spurs as product are superbly positioned. As a football club we are eating air and farting bubbles.

We need to build a team and learn how to win things. All this Tunnel Club and Cheese Room business is laughable. Who designed this rebuild, Donald J Trump?

Levy spent 3 weeks sniffing a lift shaft in order to ensure that the minutest detail was examined.

The football team which he’s been hacking away at for the last 16 years is a dysfunctional hotchpotch that unsurprisingly excels at earning money.

Wembley doesn’t work.

I told you it wouldn’t work, but you were too busy stampeding towards one the most stupid decisions the club has ever made.

Tickets at 拢5 only served to prove that we’d need to pay fans significantly more than this in future to watch us play at Wembley in future.

I’m bored of pointing out the obvious flaws with this particular toilet and if you want me to flesh out my contempt, please refer to my archive.

Could Wembley conceivably聽work? If you’re even asking yourself that question then you’re聽clutching at more straws than a frantically masturbating scarecrow.

Wembley next season will be nothing short of a cyanide pill with a Luger聽to the roof of the mouth chaser.

Time for Levy’s u-turn.

Having seen all of the games at Wembley, I agree that we will be lambs to the slaughter if we spend an entire season there. I can’t put my finger on the why, but what stands out is the softness of every goal we have conceded there. Teams have to work pretty hard to get passed us at WHL, but we seem to switch off at Wembley and gift a goal on every occasion.

So we’d best prepare, because it will be a miracle if we end up elsewhere.

We were the masters of our own destruction last night.,
We no longer have the form that we showed to beat MC and Chelsea and lack the ideas and creativity that got us back in the away game at City.
We scored their first goal and gifted them a second after a great deal of guts and determination in the second half.
Football is played on grass not in the concrete surrounds, this Wembley pitch is no bigger than at the old Wembley I beleive, and we were successful there often enough.
By the way of accuracy, although we lost the tie we did not lose at home if you regard Wembley as your home ground. I remember an interview with Klinsman who said he regarded Wembley as the ‘Temple of Football.’ It’s not the ground, we lost the edge to our form a few weeks back, if anything it is the statement recently by Pochettino: ‘We need better players.”, with the form of Davies, Dier being dreadful and Dembele becoming, once again, King of the Sideways Run, our fringe players are not good enough to cover the out of form players. We missed Lamela’s workrate and Rose, who would be missed by any team in the Prem.

Can some of you guys do a little research before starting to type….

Dembele very rarely plays 90 minutes – I don’t know why? fitness, injury?

When we beat Chesea 2-0, Dembele was taken off around the same time and Winks replaced him.

All because we did not win last night we are blaming the manager for his choices. He is doing an excellent job with a limited squad. If you are looking to blame someone you are barking at the wrong door. You should be asking ‘why do we have such a small squad and some with limited ability.

    • Gloster1861 February 24, 2017 at 5:57 pm

What this match brought home to this entire season was the fact that three of our four summer transfers are not good enough to play in the first eleven and had they been this season may be completely different. The entire summer transfer window was a co8k up of epic proportions and if Pooch is anything other than a mindless tactically bereft patsy he must have had an involvement and that means his reputation is exceedingly fragile. He is not a winner and has won nothing and it shows. He is just a company man pulling his dollar. The fact that he has accumulated over 拢14million by never actually winning anything shows he is clever at masquerading as if he knows what he is doing and the truth is he is making it up as he goes along most of the time. The decision to hook Dembele and leave Dier on was catastrophic and as soon as the substitution was made we lost what momentum we had.Dembele is one of the best players in Europe in holding onto possession. I would like him playing further forward so he can make runs into the box. Dier then delivered another huge f88k up,. He has cost us so many important matches this season and needs to be removed from the first team squad. He is only a DM and nothing else. The moment in the first half when the ball was quickly rolled across Gents goalmouth and Dier was the closest player but wasn’t even looking at what was happening and was staring at the f88king ground said it all to me . He and the boy gansta need to drop their little pals act and start earning the huge amounts of supporters money that they take each and every time they wear the shirt.I also don’t buy this crap that Pooch is not responsible for how the players play or behave during a match. He is absolutely responsible for getting all the players into the correct mindset before any game and giving them a clear game plan that fully utilises their strengths. I seem to remember we suffered last season because of an Ali spat against Crystal Palace and Pooch said the same soundbites after that match. Obviously Ali wasn’t listening and what does that say about the respect the players truly have for the manager. Listen to Eriksens comments post match when asked whether there were any good points regarding the game and he said “not really” and walked away.

    • Gloster1861 February 24, 2017 at 3:49 pm

At least Eriksen didn’t spin any insulting verbiage. I wonder if he will be off in the summer?

      • jfdit February 24, 2017 at 4:00 pm

        where to exactly?

I don’t see enough quality on the pitch to suggest he’s going remotely anywhere

        • Gloster1861 February 24, 2017 at 5:33 pm

Can’t agree. In a good team with other quality midfielders he would look excellent.

    • McG 鈿解毥 February 24, 2017 at 3:59 pm

Agree with most of that, apart from Poch being a company man. He seems tactically inept at times, really don’t understand some of his thinking, especially re Dier, & yeah, him looking down at the ground royally fucked me off last night.

  • Gloster1861 February 24, 2017 at 3:45 pm

Alli apologised to the Gent player, and his team mates.

It’s the fans he should be apologising to as well. The saps who pay his wages.

  • Trev1978 February 24, 2017 at 3:37 pm

From a playing perspective a ‘soft’ opening of the new lane would probably be preferable to a big reveal. You have to remember arsenal and West Ham both suffered similar problems to our Wembley difficulties when they took occupation of their new stadiums. We currently face two seasons of that with Wembley and then the new stadium. The ‘alternatives’ being looked at will be something involving White Hart Lane- there will be no third option at this stage. As we saw the other day the PL rules on the stadium are suitably vague. There may be mileage in occupying the existing White Hart Lane minus the Paxton road stand for a couple of months and then sliding across into the 3/4 complete new stadium. A soft opening like that may alleviate some of the stage fright issues.

      • Trev1978 February 24, 2017 at 3:59 pm

I think it’s psychological rather than the pitch size. The complaint was always that the pitch size at WHL made it too easy for opposition sides to park the bus.

        • Harry Hotspur February 24, 2017 at 4:40 pm

The WHL pitch is slightly narrow, and slightly less cambered than it used to be.

          • Trev1978 February 24, 2017 at 4:50 pm

  • Gloster1861 February 24, 2017 at 3:32 pm

The Dembele substitution defied logic because he was playing so well and dominating central field. That Pochettino risked altering the way we were playing, which was working well, has worried me about his tactical nous.

  • Spurs Forever February 24, 2017 at 3:28 pm

Speaking of ridiculous substitutions (2.57 p.m.) can anyone please enlighten me what MP had in mind with the introduction of Janssen in the 89th minute? Or with the persistence of playing Dier when he is in such awful form?

I fully support MP but sometimes I find his selections and substitutions quite baffling.

    • Gloster1861 February 24, 2017 at 3:33 pm

I had a ticket for last night but effin Thameslink/GNR screwed me (or did me a favour). DL and Wembley is one issue but for me the major issue is Poch and his boys.

Yes, we’re in a good position but his recruitment, selection and tactics are constantly being questioned. While the stats read well they, in my view, hide the fact that Poch can’t turn potential draws/defeats into wins. We should be giving most teams a hiding but we aren’t.

Ok, he’s young and still learning. How long do we have to wait for him to graduate or will he play truent like he did at Soton when DL came along?

Playing at Wembley shouldn’t be an issue. It isn’t for anyone else!

Are we going to have legions tripping up to MK dons for mid week games all season? Doubt it. • McG 鈿解毥 February 24, 2017 at 2:57 pm

Last night had nothing to do with Wembley & everything to do with Del boy & Poch. Why isn’t the ridiculous substitution of Dembele being highlighted? Lightweight Winks could have done well alongside Dembele last night, his pass completion is nearly equal to that of moose’s. Retention was the order of the day when we playing 10 vs 11. Dier should have been hooked, was having a shit game, & it got shitter. It was a moronic substitution, of epic proportions. I’m all good with the Poch love-in, & no doubt I’ll get sneered at for this, but the bloke needs to up his game, can’t keep fucking up with team selections or stupid substitutions, we’ll never win anything & remain top four muppets with nothing to show for it.
