Unbeaten in six, Spurs go second courtesy of two pretty sensational strikes from Son.

The table doesn’t lie.

Oh, and it’s our best start in 51 years.

The first half was good viewing if your were Tottenham. We looked as if we had a plan, and the plan was to not be shy in front of goal.

We had a number of chances via Eriksen, Delle and Janssen but nobody matched the Korean’s commitment.

Middlesbrough weren’t actually much cop. The scoreline doesn’t reflect Boro’s involvement in the game.

The goal we conceded was less about the home side’s invention and pluck and more about the visitors switching off.

I still don’t understand what everyone in our midfield is supposed to be doing, and it’s clear that they aren’t sure either.

Eriksen – as with the Gillingham game – is our one player who is capable of setting the pace and the tone of our initiative.

I want to know if he’ll manage to look so commanding against Manchester City.

Delle‘s settings need looking at.

This wasn’t Bayer Leverkusen away. Had it been, he would have been a strong contender for being substituted. The ‘England International’ epitomised the ‘not quite at the races’ vibe that Spurs meandered into as the minutes slipped by.

To the unworldly, you could be confused for thinking that Boro fought their way back into the game.

The truth was that Tottenham sat on two pieces of individual brilliance, as their collective concentration ebbed away.

If we’d played someone good, Son’s goals would have probably still gone in, but we would have lost 3-2.

Son‘s two moments of magic camouflaged what was overall a rather bumbling performance. Besides the goals, Son also pulled some utterly hopeless moves out of his hat.

Sissoko sucked badly.

This is a player with considerable Premier League experience yet he just looks, well …a bit shit.

His contract (or so we are told) is only costing us £30m if he stays the whole 5 years. Which is supposed to be a positive, supposed to be a safety net.

The problem is, he’s 27 now.

No matter where you are reading this, if you listen carefully, that faint noise you can hear is Paul Mitchell sniggering.
