Chelsea have described claims head coach Antonio Conte is forcing striker Diego Costa out of the club as “just nonsense”.

A lawyer purported to represent Costa threatened Chelsea with legal action over the striker’s future.

A Chelsea spokesman said on Friday: “The premise the lawyer has put forward is just wrong.

“The decision on Diego was made back in January. The player knew the decision, his agent knew the decision, clearly the lawyer has not been well informed.

“The lawyer’s argument that Antonio as a coach has forced the player out by text message in June is just nonsense.”

Costa, his agent Jorge Mendes and Chelsea decided in January that the striker would be leaving the Blues in the summer.

The 28-year-old was linked with a move to the Chinese Super League during last season’s winter transfer window and was left out of the Blues’ squad for January’s trip to Leicester as rumours of tensions with Conte surfaced.

Atletico can sign him now but cant play him til January..Or they can sign him now and loan him out to anyone they want til either January or next June..Chelsea will never allow him go out on loan to another top team in England so probably a Serie A ,La Liga or Ligue 1 club not in Europe will get him for a period.

A total head-banger but a brilliant player. Not that I give a fuck what they do but if vinegar face Wenger had any sense he’d be eyeing up Costa. He’s just what they need. We on the other hand are about to catch the whole football world napping with the signing of Giovanni Simone. I’m sure Kane is quaking in his boots

He’ll go back to Atletico, and good riddance, the dirty punk was a blight on the league. On the downside, that might mean Toby now has the worst ear-to-head ratio in the league, and upside for Diego…Bale will make sure he’s at least in second place in La Liga’s jug ear lineup.
