Spurs have just one point from their opening three Champions League matches – that’s the stat we need to rid ourselves of!

Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 28 home Champions League games (W26 D2). They’ve scored 87 goals in that run, while conceding just 13 and never more than once in a match.

Since the start of 1976-77, Barcelona have lost just one of their 30 European home matches against English clubs; this coming against Liverpool in February 2007 (1-2).

Barcelona have won their Champions League group for the 12th consecutive season. However, the winner of Group B has only won the Champions League once (Real Madrid in 2013-14).

Barcelona have lost just one of their last 12 Champions League meetings with English clubs (W9 D2 L1), with that defeat coming in November 2016 at Manchester City (1-3).

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has been involved in 28 goals (22 goals, 6 assists) in 29 Champions League appearances against English clubs.

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has scored 22 goals against English clubs in the Champions League; 10 more than any other player (Cristiano Ronaldo, 12 goals).

It has been posted already but listening to Nash and Holden commentating was a pleasure. Loved the moment Son broke away in the first half and Nash blurted our “Go on Sonny “ ……. 😀

Also send one to the Inter left back and their forward Martinez who’missed’ a free header from 6 yards in the last minutes.

  • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? December 12, 2018 at 9:17 am

No sooner are my eyes open Clive Allen I think is speaking of a February opening date for the stadium, as much as I’d like to live in a world where Spurs get an against the odds draw in the Nou Camp to qualify for the knock out stages its all a little too convenient, and as it turned out, not against the odds at all according to bookies at kick off. You take the Barca team selection and couple it with their below par performance and Inters pathetic attempt complete with a gift goal and its difficult to take it at face value. February is when the next stage begins, and the very morning after the match the February opening is being pushed. ‘The only place to watch CL football in London’. For now, its still a promise. ENIC just bought themselves 2 months of grace from fans who will now take this latest carrot and chomp on it till then……’it could be ready for the knockouts’ etc etc

    I’m tired. Its a masquerade.

THFC getting the blame for raping the manor. I thought it was ENIC and Haringey council to blame! Someone tell them please. THFC aint the investment company ENIC is.

  • Mad Carew December 12, 2018 at 9:16 am

If Sonny had just managed some composure a 1-4 scoreline would not have flattered us. I think he was overawed by the big occasion.

    • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? December 12, 2018 at 9:23 am

Very much so. Sounds like we should won by at least 3 away at Barca…..wonder if the knockout stages would see such a performance from them if we meet??

  • Mad Carew December 12, 2018 at 9:13 am

Would take Eriksen off Corner Duty though, first 3 didn’t beat the first man and 4th straight to Keeper, but his passing and vision was superb against quality opposition.

  • East Stand December 12, 2018 at 9:10 am

Just a mention for Llorente too, think his experience calmed the front line in a big match.

  • Mad Carew December 12, 2018 at 9:02 am

Sissoko or Eriksen as MOTM…..I can’t decide, both were superb in the second half.

    • East Stand December 12, 2018 at 9:03 am

      Moura made the difference too.

      • Mad Carew December 12, 2018 at 9:07 am

Oh yes, Moura and Lamela certainly played their part as did others but MS & CE were head and shoulders above the rest.
Eriksen was sublime and Sissoko, what a superb big game player.

        • East Stand December 12, 2018 at 9:08 am

To be fair to Sissy he’s looked good for about a month now. Plays better without Aurier running about like a headless chicken behind him too.

Who on earth can we get for a paltry sum of £15mill in this day’n age, need a replacement on mousa and perhaps victor, tough thinking ahead for poch unless he’s spotted a potential out there in wait……..levy won’t be braking the piggy in jan that’s for sure.

  • Tappaspur December 11, 2018 at 11:30 pm

The closer you get to the big cups the smaller the little ones look.

    • East Stand December 12, 2018 at 8:56 am

Which is why fans that prattle on about the League Cup and that “at least it’s a trophy” do my head in.

That’s the only trophy we’ve won in 20 bloody years and we won it twice. We need to move on from that mentality, it’s a ‘Spursy’ attitude.

There are some out there that would rather win the League Cup rather than qualify for the CL. They’re either mental or still think it’s 1983…

  • Accy December 11, 2018 at 11:20 pm

Now we’re through we can afford another £15m player.

  • MrChickenHead December 11, 2018 at 11:13 pm

I must say listening to Steve Nash &…. the other guy was so refreshing. For once to have the commentators on our side was awesome.

    • MiT December 11, 2018 at 11:42 pm

You had Nash commentating during the match?

Or pre and post match commentary?

Either way, that’s light years more pleasant then the commentating that I endured.

      • MrChickenHead December 12, 2018 at 12:05 am

Make a couple of decent signings in January and Levy could yet turn this season around?

    • Urbane Sturgeon December 11, 2018 at 10:29 pm

A few decent castors in January and Levy could turn the pitch around.

      It’s as likely.

  • Urbane Sturgeon December 11, 2018 at 10:16 pm

Just to be dryly realistic for a second; barca were through no matter what and they were winning for most of the match, so I think our performance especially regarding possession percentage was in good part because they weren’t bothering too much, didn’t want any unnecessary injuries and were saving their legs for their next league match. That said, it’s still barcelona and the boys dun good.

I’d hate to meet em in a knock-out match though.

    • SpursGoliath December 11, 2018 at 10:18 pm

Still…you could tell they REALLY didn’t want to actually lose at home. So still aa tricky assignment.

Plus they sent on the fifth best player in the world to bail them out.

      • Urbane Sturgeon December 11, 2018 at 10:25 pm

With shooting boots on we could have scored 3 or 4, it’s barcelona, they weren’t really trying. Given what we’re capable of (see goon match) I agree, we did rather well.

If we meet again in the knock-outs and beat them again I’ll crack open the 2003 La Chapelle.

    • Tappaspur December 11, 2018 at 10:55 pm

Barcelona couldn’t lose a CL game at home. Fans dem wouldn’t take too kindly to that. They’re serious you know.

    • Lilywhite without the II December 11, 2018 at 10:05 pm

      i’ll take a quano over a poo

    • East Stand December 11, 2018 at 10:05 pm

Sissy looked a better rightback than any other player on our books tonight…

    • paul December 11, 2018 at 10:07 pm

Potentially the greatest rehabilitative turnaround in top flight football. And the more the fans are won over the better he will get i think, a very virtuous circle!

      • East Stand December 11, 2018 at 10:11 pm

Go to a back 3 with Sissoko as right wingback. Better than any other option, KWP looked way out of his depth. Understandable perhaps tonight but true….

        • paul December 11, 2018 at 10:12 pm

          Remarkably plausible! (Easty/Aussie)

          • Aussie in Switzerland December 11, 2018 at 10:13 pm

            I’d move him to keeper

    • Aussie in Switzerland December 11, 2018 at 10:10 pm

He is 29, all downhill for him now. Move to right back actually suits him

      • East Stand December 11, 2018 at 10:12 pm

Could be right, I thought that about him early on. Try him there because he looks right for the role.

  • Eddie December 11, 2018 at 10:03 pm

I thought we played very well 2nd.half.The chances we created should have given us a well deserved victory.Lionel who?

  • Andrew December 11, 2018 at 10:03 pm

The gooners were celebrating dembele’s goal, calling him a legend already. How i despise those little pricks.

    • East Stand December 11, 2018 at 10:07 pm

Like it made any difference anyway, we are through and they’re off to Baku, if they’re lucky…

  • legoverlass December 11, 2018 at 10:02 pm

We should have had a hatful of goals based on the opportunities we missed tonight so a draw is the least we should have looked for. Some finishing but I do believe we made subs before the 75th min and I think that shook Barca. Lamela and Moura made the difference. Just that fffing NLD sticking in my claw to spoil a great run of results….

    • paul December 11, 2018 at 10:04 pm

It was in serious danger of being a 59th min sub!

    • legoverlass December 11, 2018 at 10:03 pm

Sissoko is probably our best right back!

      • paul December 11, 2018 at 10:03 pm

        • paul December 11, 2018 at 10:03 pm

          • Aussie in Switzerland December 11, 2018 at 10:04 pm

He was trying everything, so I guess he who tries fails a bit

            • paul December 11, 2018 at 10:05 pm

Within a minute of coming on he chased down and won a corner he had no right to win and then delivered our best corner of the match

              • Aussie in Switzerland December 11, 2018 at 10:07 pm

Not hard to take a better corner, but yeah, his energy and mongrel always helps us

                • paul December 11, 2018 at 10:08 pm

It’s mind numbing how poor we are at corners, and so fixable
