Barca Deal On The Cards Levy Hasn’t Lost The Old Magic

By The Boy -

I mentioned the likely departure of Christian Eriksen earlier in the week, and lo and behold, that’s now trickling into the mainstream.

Ian McGarry speaking on the Football Window Podcast revealed that he also understands Levy is intent on selling the pesky Dane, because he wants market rate wages.

McGarry brutalises the situation with some aplomb.

‘He’s already turned down £110,000 [a week] from Tottenham. I think he’d be looking at between £150,000 and £200,000 [a week], which in the current market I’d say he is worth every penny.’

Barcelona have already made contact with his representatives with regards to a deal that would more than double his wages, which currently are around £67,000 a week.’

‘They won’t get what Daniel Levy would want because that would be €100m (£87.6m) or €500m (£437.9m). But current market valuations, a year in his contract, his age; I think you’re looking at between €50m (£43.8m) and €70m (£61.3m). And that would be a steal for a player of Eriksen’s quality.’

Levy’s behaviour is now beyond indefensible.

Anyone seeking to make excuses for the way the club is being run is to be ignored, unless when referred to an appropriate specialist.

Someone on a street corner shouting ‘Christ Is Risen!’ at shoppers through a homemade megaphone, now has greater credibility than a Levyologist.

Kyle Walker went, Toby Alderweireld will be off. Jan Vertinghen will be off. Eriksen will also be quitting.

Two transfer windows in a row and we’re the only football side in any of Europe’s tope 5 leagues to have REFUSED to buy anyone.

Forget the Shopping Centre Fiasco, that billion pound obscenity is almost a lesser evil than the blatant sabotage of the football team.

The majority of the Academy players have been revealed as being completely guano, or and the few works in progress we have were only unleashed out of a self inflicted necessity.

I’ll repeat the gist of what I said recently, anyone wanting to post deranged comments on here supporting the patently insupportable will be denied a voice on here. Hold your lunatic fringe support groups elsewhere.

Leopards don’t change their spots and this cretinous bookkeep is incapable of leaving well alone, never mind actually doing the right thing.

How much more are fans actually prepared to take from the conspicuous gang of charlatans that are ENIC? How weird do you have to be?

Play yourself another time lapse video ‘PRESENTED BY’ the serial killer/estate agent looking hybrid that is Chris Cowlin. That’ll cheer you up.

Hush now baby, baby, don’t you cry.
Mama’s gonna make all your nightmares come true.
Mama’s gonna put all her fears into you.
Mama’s gonna keep you right here under her wing.
She won’t let you fly, but she might let you sing.
Mama’s gonna keep baby cozy and warm.
Ooh baby, ooh baby, ooh baby,
Of course mama’s gonna help build the wall shopping centre.

[With apologies to Pink Floyd]

The Eriksen part yes but Alderweireld is about age and contractlength unfortunately and sell on value. Don`t believe the story about being offered 110. He deserves 140-160 and should be on that. 110 will put you behind Kane, Alli, Sonny and the same as Lloris.

For Heavens sake why doesn’t Daniel Levy give Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen the money they want, and give them new contracts now. Why does this suffering and torture have to continue. They are both world class players and worth the money they are asking for. To buy new world class players to replace them will cost a fortune and those players will also be looking for top wages.
Doesn’t Levy and ENIC get it?

You are right. Unfortunately as long as we Plod along in CL places the Sheeple will be happy. I am no Big Fan of Poch, what he has achieved is remarkable, but as long as he is complicit , then its only a Facade. When he does go it will incur a Barring Order which has happened all too frequently with past managers. Even in the 60’s Blanchflower refused to sign one, and that was while he was just a player ! Levy has his team in place, but that team does play with a football. The Sheeple will wake up to whats going on when we drop back to 7th spot, by then it will be too late and we will be back to TEAM BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE . You could’nt make it up.

Enic are truly the worst thing that ever happened to Tottenham. An owner Lewis who is a billionaire several times over who has no interest in the club and sees it as just one of his many investments. To safeguard his investment he has levy who glories in his hard man negotiating skills. This has resulted in a sell before you can buy transfer strategy and paying key personnel well below the going rate, which is ironic as he is the highest paid chairman.
This summer will see the departure of one of the best central defenders in the league and one of the midfielders is likely is follow. If replaced be sure it will be by cheap tat as per the byright model.
If all this coincides with the manager leaving I would like to think that levy’s world would fall apart.

Can you imagine if Levy managed your financial portfolio? with Eriksen as one of your biggest assets? I’m obviously no rocket-scientist but this situation with Eriksen appears superficially to involve basic math. Now, unfortunately I do need to be a rocket-scientist w/ a theoretical physics specialty so as to invent a time-machine and actually deal with this dwindling contract nonsense like an adult and ffs PROACTIVELY.

The muted transfer fund for next summer is nothing more than the proceeds of the sale of Toby and Eriksen. Levy and ENIC will not put a penny of their own money into the squad. We will replace Eriksen with Maddison probably as UTD will no doubt snap up Brooks as they will offer him a better deal. So once again we sell our CL quality players and replace them with young potential. It’s the same Groundhog Day senario That ENIC have spun for 17 years. You can only imagine contract talks with Levy trying to justify why he will not pay the going rate for Eriksen whilst everyone in the room know that he is creaming the highest salary in the EPL without the football club winning anything. The fact that Poochy is apparently happy to take his £8.5 million and toe the company line does not enamour him to me in anyway. Pooch commented that he was being “brave” yet again when he said he was prepared to take the risk of moving into the new stadium this season. he is in my mind the one of the most risk adverse coaches out there. He appears scared to bring in big name players maybe because he feels he will not be able to hide behind this mask of being some sort of genius without winning a shirt button and because then the pressure will be on to win something. He wants to live in the perpetual promise of winning something and the perpetual myth of a project and future development of potential. Cushdy number to pull £8.5 million plus for basically treading water.

As I have mentioned elsewhere we are witnessing the slow dismantling of our nearly great team. It seems obvious that ENIC are not interested in the upward progress of this team but more in the financial bottom line. They obviously see their financial future in the monolith they have built and the various cash grabs located inside. Silly me, I thought we were all supporting a top class football club with a bright future. I guess management feel a manageable mid table team will still bring in enough to support their inflated lifestyles. Who cares if we don’t win anything. The stupid supporters will still be there donating their hard earned wages. The rot will begin in the summer window with class being replaced by dross ( carefully promoted as “top prospects”) and we will be told again to be patient. No signings in two windows should be a clue but also the constant refusal of class players to join Tottenham should indicate that something is amiss. The only remedy it would seem is for us supporters to make their grievances show at the turnstiles, where it counts. Much reduced bottom line revenues might make ENIC rethink their strategy.

I see him trying to play hardball on Eriksen’s price in the summer and things really turning nasty, possibly to the point where even Poch will decide enough is enough.

The logical step would be to review the wage structure and give Eriksen the going rate. As Levy won’t do that (clearly) then he will have to accept that Eriksen will have to be sold for less than the Balesque record breaking levels.

Thing is, Eriksen is also a strange one. For me, we’ve probably seen the best he can get in English football. In Spain he might improve even further because the physical aspects are different.

He has always looked quite a bit lower down the food chain than the very best in his position because he often lacks two three components. Consistency, goals and big game presence.

However, he’s still one of our best players and who we replace him with will be interesting but expect some 22 year old or other for Poch to work on.

Bored with the 17 year ‘future project’, expectation management, glacial progress and focus on all things except improving the team from ENIC.

The stadium and all that ‘consumer experience’ crap from owners backed by a 6x billionaire is laughable. We are looking more and more of a joke under these bastards with each passing month.

One league cup in 17 years and zero pence of their own money invested in the squad. What do ENIC need to do convince those still enthralled by their nonsense that they are not interested in winning anything?

For Heavens sake why doesn’t Daniel Levy give Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen the money they want, and give them new contracts now. Why does this suffering and torture have to continue. They are both world class players and worth the money they are asking for. To buy new world class players to replace them will cost a fortune and those players will also be looking for top wages.
Doesn’t Levy and ENIC get it?
