Last night’s game was a difficult one alright. Largely due to the powers that be at THFC couldn’t be bothered to buy the rights, nor did ITV bother to buy the rights. Both cheaped out.

This from ITV:

Unfortunately we do not actually own the rights at this stage in the competition, and have to buy the matches on an individual basis.

We didn’t show all of the qualifiers last year either, however on this occasion we have chosen to show the 2nd leg match against AEL Limassol on 28th August.

The Spurs Official Twitter feed got it in the neck, after demonstrating a breathtaking detatchment from reality.

The boss’ postmatch comments were interesting again. Great to see that Lamela is so important and even better to witness that for the second game in a row that our substutions did what they were supposed to, and gave us a change that was tactically important:

It is never easy in the first season for a player from another country. It is true that it was difficult for him.

He was injured, too, and we are confident with him that with time and hard work, like he has done in pre-season, that he can go far.

He was very disappointed about last season but the past is the past. We need him to look forward, believe in his skill and condition and work very, very hard. With confidence and time he will show his value.

You always nominate players on the bench who can have an impact and all three subs had an impact on the game.”

I might be getting ahead of myself, but surely the mood in the Spurs camp at the moment must be pretty upbeat? Two games, two wins, two showings of distinct character to achieve those wins.
