Balls Fizzing [video]

By The Boy -

I enjoyed the Colchester game, the Norwich game and now this one. That GP must have ditched the chalk placebos and finally started giving me the good stuff.

The caveat and there always is this sort of thing is that I enjoyed this one from the sixtieth minute onwards.

Dele Alli’s introduction lifted the game and it was no surprise that it was his delicious pass to Kieran Trippier that separated the brides from the bridesmaids.

Spurs were at it, make no mistaker. We had 26 shots at the Watford goal, but the problem was that only 9 were on target.

Again, we won 15 corners to their one, but it took the addition of Dele Alli to smash them wide open.

Trippier was not just on the end of an inch perfect and beautifully weighted ball. The Englishman had a brilliant game generally; curious that it was the sober pairing of Davies and Trippier that gave Rose and Walker a masterclass in attacking wingback play.

It was all about the three Spurs new that I’ve mentioned. From this trio came all our incisive, all our turbo charged stuff.

Gomes must feel that his return to The Lane was not unlike an exorcism of sorts. Sure Spurs scored, but a lesser man would have possibly conceded at least another one, maybe even a third.

Watford played deep and looked to counter, but as with Norwich, their attack was far too sloppy to achieve anything.

There’s a pattern emerging at Watford, they’ve only scored in one of their last 5 games.

The team work saw us through a game that historically we would have been prone to bungle.

Nobody had a bad game, but Chadli and Kane were below par. Penalties schmenalties. I’ll watch the replays again on MOTD, but they weren’t clear cut and more to the point they weren’t given.

Son and some exquisite touches. I am mean some really world class little moments.

Demerole was on hell of a combative character out there today. It’s players of his quality and determination we normally get to watch wearing Chelsea or Manchester City shirts.

Spurs go second and with a goal difference that makes your balls fizz.
