There’s been a flood of ‘Bale could miss Spurs clash’ headlines this evening.

The Welshman sat out a game versus Espanyol on Sunday and is supposedly set to also miss his International fixtures against Georgia and Republic of Ireland.

How serious the muscle strain is – is anyone’s guess. It apparently came as a reaction to some cramp. What kind of eclipses this whole episode is that for all the hoo-ha of Bale joining the jet set, the now 28 year old has in truth cut quite a peripheral figure in Spain.

Whilst I’m sure Gareth will be quick to tell people that he’s won – amongst other things –  3 back to back Champions League titles, but he’s spent more time in the physio-room that he has on the pitch.

Bale’s missed 9,346 minutes of playing time and so only been available to play for 43% of the time that he’s been with Real Madrid. Which is pretty bizarre. If you already knew all this, then well done you and have a very shiny star.

On the balance of probability, Bale will struggle to make our game against Real on the 17th.

IF the strain is a mild as his first dose in Spain was back in 2015, then he’ll only be out for a fortnight. If it’s on a par with his last two bouts, then he’ll be out of action for a month.

One thing’s for certain. The next Spurs fan that suggests we snap Bale up if he returns to Blighty might want to explain why it is that they would want to sabotage us…

Tottenham have to decide who they want to be.
I was with Berbatov when he left Tottenham because he was our best player and we were not making a statement for him so he left

and its not the same as buying a player. That decision is different. So we either aspire to Kanes level or we give him up if he needs to go.He doesn’t now but we should keep it that way stadium or no stadium

Taking Rhys today for a footie all i want him to do is thread the ball a couple of times and hit a 30 yarder in the corner of the net.I ask myself,am I asking too much of the boy? How was Kane treated as a three year old?

  • VincentianMagic October 4, 2017 at 11:13 am

Hmm, I’m thinking that if RM are prepared to stump up the cash, that we allow Alli to depart at the end of the season if he doesn’t get his sh&t together.

Don’t get me wrong, he scores goals and hopefully will improve… but he is a luxury player at the moment and if stupid money comes our way (£120M+), then it would be tempting.

How about we take Isco and the semi-crocked Bale of your hands RM? Add in Barkley on a free at the end of the season and that’ some midfield.

IMO we’d be one mobile, pacy CF away from stardom.

    • David Dillenberg October 4, 2017 at 11:23 am

Despite his indifferent form I would keep Alli. Flicks, touches he has it all and can only get better when he focuses on his football!

      • David Dillenberg October 4, 2017 at 11:27 am

Forget ISCO transfer.Nice if he joined but IMO it simply wont happen with himself + other RM players we are linked with!

        • VincentianMagic October 4, 2017 at 11:44 am

In which case let’s keep Alli and add a couple of decent players ourselves.

            • AccringtonSpurs October 4, 2017 at 11:23 am

Rather Sessegnon for Rose and spend the remaining cash on someone like Dembele up top (granted, we would need to add a further £20M or so, but he’d be worth it IMO).

    http://theboyhotspur.com/heres-the-one-now-show-us-your-ambition-levy/

“IF Bale is being eased out of Real Madrid then it is perfectly logical that Spurs and nobody else go and get the boy.
Now is not the moment for fanning about, mumbling about ‘looking for the right players’.
Now is not the moment for even failing to land no-mark Eurotrash because you’re incapable of finding £10million all in one go.
Now is the moment to step up and show ambition. More importantly, to show some self respect.
Has Levy got it in him?”

What’s changed your opinion over the last two months? Seeing that statistic?

    • Horndog October 4, 2017 at 12:52 am

Perhaps he did significant research and came to the conclusion that Bale is broken glass. Just a theory.

      • Yiddo October 4, 2017 at 1:02 am

In which case Levy maybe, just maybe, had been made aware of such a statistic before today and, consequentially, decided against spending 100 million on him, actually making an informed and astute decision. I’m stunned.

The first year is all about settling in and finding one’s feet; learning the ropes etc. I dropped my brother off at his Uni t’other day (final year) and for a brief moment (three days) I wished I was 21 and starting at Uni. Great times are to be had.

I disagree. After he got over the voodoo of ‘his first long injury’ and ‘always in losing side for Spurs’ he was fit for us for most of the games.

When he became effective we could rely on him starting regularly for us. His strength and fitness was his strength from my point of view.
