More great news from the nation’s favourite char.

Jonathan Barnett, the most charming and fragrant of football agents is making discreet overtures toward a select few Premier League sides.

There appears to be some turbulence in the Real Madrid camp at the moment and Gareth Bale could look to leap before he is pushed. One tale doing the rounds in Spain has the Welshman confiding in Luka Modric that he is looking to make a move.

What Gladys knows for certain is at this stage is that Tottenham aren’t one of the clubs that have been approached. The list of those who have is short. It’s Manchester United and one other.

Things change of course. Nevermore so than in football. That said, it would be nice to believe that there was something approaching a rabbit in the hat. Something with a better feel-good factor than Ross Barkley who appears to her the dream signing of approximately no-one.

While the rest of the league goes about its business, we’re desperately trying to decipher some sense from the conflicting messages that have seeped out of the club over the past few weeks.

Will Spurs benefit from holding fire until the death of the window? It’s a struggle to see any obvious benefits. Players that can move will have already done so and like any party at the close, all that will be left are dirty glasses and full ashtrays.

Nilly, I am truly sorrowful to hear of your very limited time with your children. I hope that changes for the better very soon — kids need their daddies. The situation is made even more traumatic when their daddies so dearly treasure the time with their kids.

    • Still Nil Nil August 7, 2017 at 3:47 pm

Thanks MiTty, that’s lovely of you.

      Just hate saying goodbye.

Been a great week tho so that’s a bonus.

      How’s tricks with you buddy?

      • MiT August 7, 2017 at 4:07 pm

Good with me. Heavy road travel this summer, with my son (23) and my loyal dachshund along with me for most of it. We spent the early months converting a Mercedes Sprinter cargo van into a nice hybrid camper for the business, and have enjoyed our time during and since, even during the more grueling trips.

I walk my oldest down the aisle this November, and give her away to a very good and deserving husband. Bittersweet, but also very satisfying in a way.

It has been a long and interesting journey for us. We lost the kids’ mother back in November of ’98 to a car accident when they were ages 4 and 5 years. My daughter took the helm in running a household, and thus received a lot of my time while her younger brother often treaded water.

Nowadays, he spends his days with me building his business next to mine, and has gotten all of the time back. It is funny how things eventually work out for the best in such unexpected ways.

        • Still Nil Nil August 7, 2017 at 4:15 pm

          Wow.
Sounds like a journey not just on the road but one thru some tough times in life.
You’re clearly a very good dad and man.
You should be very proud of yourself and your kids and rightly so.
I hope November is a beautiful time for all of you and I’m sure their mum will be beaming a massive smile down on you all.
It’s occasions like this that make this blog as special as it is as we all have back stories an ongoing ones too that make for some really incredible people on here.
And it’s an honour to know you guys on here.

          Nice one MiTty.

Your kids are very lucky to have you as their father.

      • JuandeInternational August 7, 2017 at 6:05 pm

Because our squad is not good enough to make a fist of more than one competition, so Poch will be told to put all his efforts into securing a top 4 place. Which, as any hooked nosed humourless Frenchman will tell you is the equivalent of winning some silverware at the point when winning some actual silverware is no longer an option.

  • Gus August 7, 2017 at 3:13 pm

The picture you’ve used up top H of David Brent in the ostrich costume is one I love.
    I adored the office.

But comparisons between David Brent and levy are way off.

Brent was a man who craved to be loved.
But deep down he had a soul, and actually tried in a hap hazard way to be a good boss and and be fair.
He was clumsy and an oaf.
    But not a nasty fella.

Levy is a self absorbed horrible self benefitting arsehole who would mug his mum for an extra 10p out of her purse.

He’s smug and self righteous who rips off his own client base.
Stripping the club of its family ties and history.

Of the 2, id rather have Brent running tottenham than levy any day of the week.

    • Panama Paul August 7, 2017 at 2:54 pm

I’d take a punt on the ostrich.

    • Harry Hotspur August 7, 2017 at 2:54 pm

Very true. Brent would do something daft that meant the fans all got in for free, or the opposition turned up on the wrong day. He wouldn’t charge people Cat A/B prices for a friendly.

    • Horndog August 7, 2017 at 2:58 pm

  • Still Nil Nil August 7, 2017 at 2:44 pm

I want Spurs to return to being a football club.

To being a club of ‘firsts’.

A club that dares to do rather than shys away from a challenge.

A club that speculates to accumulate.

    That aspires to win.

    That aspires to win trophies.

That inspires a new generation of Spurs fan.

All I see is a building site.
And not the one where they’re building a new destination.

But a metaphorical one where pictures of the blitz of buildings caved inwards with desperation is etched on the faces of the locals.

At the end of the last season, I had hope.

At the beginning of this season, once where I had hope, I have nothing but a dark black cloud obscuring the optimistic sun cowering behind it.

I’m not asking for world beaters, just something that will strengthen and support the paper thin squad in N17.

2 good players vieing for the one position, egging each other on to get better which can only benefit the team.

    Thanks Daniel.

    You cunt.

“One tale doing the rounds in Spain has the Welshman confiding in Luka Modric that he is looking to make a move.”

I’m sure Luka’s got some advice for him on that score. He’s bound to have some helpful stories, especially one involving holidaying on a Russian yacht.

Unless, of course, the rumour is that Bale was looking to make a move on Luka?

  • digiyid August 7, 2017 at 1:55 pm

And its absolutely correct..Spurs have the first REFUSAL to match if any ACCEPTABLE offer received by RM within 48 jours of RM officially informing Spurs. Then its not for 100% The player himself can Refuse to join if someone else offered more money or better conditions. Levy i doubt it very much will touch Bale . He will end up with a WINNING club. Man United will pay because they dont calculate the cost of a trophy. Trophies make more money than LEVYs mentality ..

    • Spurs Nut D August 7, 2017 at 2:13 pm

Not true man utd have much much deeper pockets than us. They due to gate revenue and sponsorship deals have a lot more money to spend. They can offer 300 000 a week as they know they will cover this in ticket sales. The truth is the wages are not really a issue for most clubs including ourselves for Bale nor the fee as long as it’s correct. His worth at the minute by Cies is about 56 million but has a buy out of like 400 million. Truth worth about 65 or so. A clubs worth is based on many things including players owned. Having a player like Bale in a club if you were thinking of selling the club will only increase its worth

      • ronwol196061🇨🇦 August 7, 2017 at 2:20 pm

Bales worth is what clubs will pay.
We are not intetested in his and Im sure Bales not interested in us. He has better choices than us.
We could use a CM and a player like Kovacic makes sense.
We have many midfielders but no real engine room, command centre.
Thats where to start. Everything else is a sub.A sub for Trippier and a sub for Kane

        • Panama Paul August 7, 2017 at 2:25 pm

Kovacic is a wet dream Ron. He’s playing well, had some first team minutes, so I think he’ll want to stay where he is rather than fall into the clutches of the evil Dr Levy. Even if he was a little bit tempted, RM will blow smoke up his jacksi, like they did with Morata, to keep them in the fold for as long as possible (ie as a bench warmer – albeit a class option off the bench).

          • Spurs Nut D August 7, 2017 at 2:32 pm

To be honest I would say there is more chance of Bale than Kovacic. No chance in both cases but for different reasons.

            • Daniel Primus August 7, 2017 at 2:41 pm

sad but true mate, we will be fighting for scraps like the lower the league teams in the PL, those type of players are always going to have top clubs in for them and apparently we just cant compete!

what does it mean when Bournemouth have players on a higher wage structure than us??

            • Panama Paul August 7, 2017 at 2:44 pm

Don’t get me wrong, Ron. I would love a class act like Kovacic at Spurs. However, the problem for players seems to be a reluctance to sell their souls for a few shekels, which seems to be a prerequisite for Levy’s contracts. Levy is like a poisoned chalice for Spurs as a football club.

              • ronwol196061🇨🇦 August 7, 2017 at 2:50 pm

There are always mixed reports about Pochs feelings and mixed things he says.
Apart from hope someyhing will change with Levy or the club being sold, our best hope is Poch making a stand. We dont know the way he feels but if the plan wasnt set out originally and he wasnt told of events ahead like we wont spend etc then he should be a little pissed about it (we dont know that) but Pich is the only one that CAN make a stand with Levy.

      • Harry Hotspur August 7, 2017 at 2:56 pm

Sponsorship monies at THFC could be drastically improved if we won stuff.

Sponsors want exposure that aligns their products with success.

Another reason Flat Earthers are in denial about how utterly useless Levy’s mismanagement of Spurs is.

        • Panama Paul August 7, 2017 at 2:27 pm

Kyle Walker probably said something similar a few years back.

          • Camus August 7, 2017 at 2:57 pm

That’s cool but we had 2 top right-backs last season. We sold 1 of ’em. For KWP to be there “in a few years” doesn’t help us now. What about ‘now’?

            • Panama Paul August 7, 2017 at 3:25 pm

The thing is Camus is that if you or I were as negligent as Levy has been, we would most likely be moved on by our employers. Selling before getting a replacement in is football suicide, it’s just criminal, yet Levy tries to get away with it regularly. Poch may be the master turd polisher but, no matter how highly polished it is, a turd is still a turd.

        • Harry Hotspur August 7, 2017 at 2:58 pm

Having watched him play, he could read the collected works of Shakespeare whilst standing on one leg. I really couldn’t care. If he was at West Brom, not one Spurs fan would be talking about him. Unmemorable is what he is. Not being nasty, just frank.

        • Chrisman August 7, 2017 at 8:08 pm

  • digiyid August 7, 2017 at 1:48 pm

Anyone offering above £50 mil for Bale and 300k a week to the player himself needs his head testing..Check the player profile and statistics for the last 4 years..He has played less and less games each season, too many injuries, goals he scored are not his usual pace and power goals.Even for Wales he scores Freekicks etc. Not the player that left Spurs anymore. RM will sell Bale at the right age of 28 and next season he will not even worth what he is worth today. RM must balance the books for Mbappe purchase. FFP kicks in.

    • mattspurs August 7, 2017 at 2:04 pm

  • ru4real August 7, 2017 at 1:40 pm

The Bale agreement says we have 48 hours to match an offer that RM find acceptable (expires in 2019) – let’s see what offer they get, assuming the rumours are true.

    • RumpleSpurtskin August 7, 2017 at 1:52 pm

Whether there is a buy back / first refusal clause to trigger, or not, is purely academic. Bale will choose he signs for next. Spurs could offer 50m over and above any other bids, but if Bale doesn’t want to sign for Spurs – he won’t.

  • FGZ August 7, 2017 at 1:24 pm

More chance of Kane & Alli both ending on zero goals in all comps this season. Bale is elite, top 5 in the world. Absolutely no chance

    • RumpleSpurtskin August 7, 2017 at 1:54 pm

Yep. We’ll have to make do with the Kane, Alli, Eriksen et al muck.

  • PhilBealOG August 7, 2017 at 1:22 pm

I no longer believe there is going to be a significant signing. Getting the cost estimates for the new stadium so badly wrong should have cost Levy his job. I suspect he promised to cover the 400M miss by clamping down on incoming transfers and stuffing the money from outgoings into his please don’t fire me fund. It wouldn’t be the first time a team run primarily for profit has lied through its teeth to its victims (known elsewhere as fans).

  • Spurs Nut D August 7, 2017 at 1:06 pm

Bale is the one player available to us who would pay for himself. The interest in him in China and the Asia is massive. The deals that could be done by having him would pay his wage not to mention America. Pity as he looks super fit this year and with him we would not need Barkley now and could wait till next year to get him for free

    • ronwol196061 August 7, 2017 at 1:08 pm

He doesnt need China. He is wealthy as it is and still is a huge name.
I think PM will keep him for insurance as Ronaldo is batting an eyelid at United

The problem is Neymars price has fucked them all

    • Daniel Primus August 7, 2017 at 1:11 pm

its a wet dream mate, nothing more – for 1 when you as a player and your agent have to deal with levy once i am almost certain you will want nothing to do with him again – just ask modric!

      • Spurs Nut D August 7, 2017 at 1:20 pm

I have no doubt it is just a dream but the sales from Bale merchandise would easily help pay his wages not to mention other deals. Just saying

  • paul August 7, 2017 at 12:50 pm

    Levy, Champagne taste, lemonade pockets.

    C*nt.

    • ronwol196061 August 7, 2017 at 1:04 pm

      Really?

      Lemonade taste
      Champagne pockets,with a security lock

  • Still Nil Nil August 7, 2017 at 12:33 pm

If bale is willing to do a Rooney and take a pay cut to return to a club that he has stated he loves, then he ain’t going to Tottenham.
Difference between the 2 is bale is in his prime, Rooney is approaching retirement.
    Definitely not returning to Tottenham.

    • Camus August 7, 2017 at 12:36 pm

Watching him do ‘banter’ with Fabregas and Willian will be ‘fun’.

  • Daniel Primus August 7, 2017 at 12:30 pm

ha ha we will be fighting for scraps come end of the window like Watford and WBA!

Anyone even thinking of bale to spurs is having a serious wank! angel di maria is a more likely target and even that seems way off!

  • Camus August 7, 2017 at 12:25 pm

I’ll bet a bag of wine gums that if Bale rocks up at either Yanited or Chelsea, one of the first things he says is “It’s a massive club. I’m here to win trophies.”

    • ronwol196061 August 7, 2017 at 12:29 pm

Poch probably said the same thing about us

“The Paris Saint Germain intends to stay with the central defender in exchange for 11 million dollars, in a negotiation that in the Pincha see with good eyes.”

This is my favourite sentence in some time. 😆

  • Billerickyvilla August 7, 2017 at 12:15 pm

On the Bale thing – are we all not in agreement that Levy must have inserted a buy back clause or first dibs clause or match other clubs offer clause when we sold him to Real??

    • Caspurs♿️ August 7, 2017 at 12:19 pm

We have first refusal if another club have an offer accepted and we match it. The clue is in the phrase 1st refusal, Levy will REFUSE to pay the fee required or Bales wages.

    • Harry Hotspur August 7, 2017 at 12:20 pm

That must be true – would’ve thought.

    • Hodsgod August 7, 2017 at 12:27 pm

It’s a fact and avaliable to see in black and white if you do a little googling

    • Willy juice August 7, 2017 at 1:21 pm

Bale won’t want to come back until he’s finished! If he’s coming back to england it’s to win trophies and that rules us out. The end!

I’ll take crouch at this stage

  • Camus August 7, 2017 at 12:14 pm

I am expecting something less satisfying than Foyth, Gazzaniga and Barkley which, let’s face it, would be massively underwhelming anyway.

However, at this juncture, were we to buy those 3, just to celebrate I would probably splash £65 on a legit replica Spurs shirt with ‘May The Foyth Be With You’ on the back.

    • StuSpur August 7, 2017 at 12:26 pm

How about ‘Foyth? You’re having a laugh’

      • ronwol196061 August 7, 2017 at 12:26 pm

How about…… Dont Be a Barkley

        • StuSpur August 7, 2017 at 12:30 pm

          ‘Barkley.. now there’s an afterthought’

          • Camus August 7, 2017 at 12:35 pm

‘My other signing is better… Honest.’

Foyth, you’re all having a Brucie.

  • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? August 7, 2017 at 12:05 pm

I think Levy’s been hypnotised by the raffa van den vaart deal. Ever since he’s expected an absolute gem to just drop in his lap at the last minute. That was a blood moon Dan. You got to actually go out and get things done, and that doesnt mean piss about for a whole window over what amounts to 1 20th of your wages or sumink.

    • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? August 7, 2017 at 12:07 pm

      A half bottle.

  • TopOfThePochs August 7, 2017 at 11:58 am

Ross Barkley is a player the Everton aren’t that bothered about keeping – clearly.

As such, he should be seen as a speculative signing that with hopefully bolster the bench.
Not a marquee signing that will push us forward as a team.
The prolonged transfer has built as such to make it seem like its a big deal – he’s not the messiah.

We’re bargain basement shopping for canned meat when we should be making use of the privileged access to the Champions League counter of prime cuts.

Here’s a bit translated out of an Argentine newspaper abiut Foyth. So expect Poch to get his man. I’m sure this bit of ITK will me a fee out of HH.

The managers of professional soccer of Students have been working hard in the last weeks so that the sale of Juan Foyth to the European soccer arrives at good port and generates an important income of money to the club. Offers are not missing, but still have not been able to agree all parties.

The Paris Saint Germain intends to stay with the central defender in exchange for 11 million dollars, in a negotiation that in the Pincha see with good eyes. But as this media advanced in its edition of yesterday, the numbers do not conform all the parties involved.

Beyond the silver, sources close to the soccer player indicate that it does not seduce to him to be player of the PSG since it would not have place in the equipment. At the moment the squad of the Parisian equipment is plagued of players in its position and, the desire of Foyth, would be to go to a club where it can add the greater amount of minutes.

That is why the offer of Tottenham is not yet down, despite the fact that in the numbers is less than that of the whole of the French league. The Premier League seduces and much to the defender as well as his relatives and, moreover, would have more consideration within the squad.

On the other hand, and while looking to close his move to the Old Continent, Foyth trains under the orders of Gustavo Matosas and is even out to start next week when Estudiantes receives Nacional de Potosí for the 16th round of the South American. It could be the farewell of the category 1998 with the albirroja t-shirt, with which it played until the moment eight parties.

Keep going Cavey you are doing well in this business

    • TopOfThePochs August 7, 2017 at 12:03 pm

Another prolonged transfer thats made to be bigger than it is, for a player who no one had heard of previously in this case.
One for the future who isn’t likely to set the world alight. Let alone project us forward from a position of strength, which is rapidly weakening.

      • caveman August 7, 2017 at 5:46 pm

Watch him in video and you might change your mind. Saw him play in a full game and he is a sweet defender who can trap a ball, pass and tackle, just like Gary Mabbutt.
