Mauricio Pochettino’s time at Spurs could either be coming to an unsavoury close, or be about to blast off into outer space.

Reading Poch’s latest quotes from Press Association Sport, it’s obvious that the gaffer is all too aware that the club cannot win anything by continuing to ‘wing it’.

“But if we want to win titles we need to operate in a different way. At the moment we operate in the same way as we operated five years ago when we arrived.

The different way Pochettino references, is in fact, the NORMAL way.

“Sometimes you need refresh, all the teams are trying to improve. You cannot keep the same squad for five years. It is going to be difficult to find the motivation, to find the way to work.”

The sometimes you need to refresh line is the understatement of the millennium.

Spurs were the only side in Europe’s top 5 leagues not to buy anyone, which made them unique – in a bad way.

The simplest analogy I can conjure is Tottenham is a man who only eats processed food, smokes, drinks and yet proudly tells people he’s never been ill a day in his life.

The odds of him being outlived by a vegan are teeny, however while he’s still wheezing ‘Look at me, I’m second in the league!’, it’s impossible to convince him his diet will be the end of him.

These quotes go beyond the ‘Be Brave’ cobblers, and effectively demand that Levy has a personality transplant.

The only sane conclusion is that Poch must backed in a meaningful manner, or he steps aside and lets someone with less ambition and less integrity take his place.

Good result but tbh they were all over us. We had no midfield with Dele and Tintin very deep. They pressed more than we did and appeared to swarm around our players four at a time our bench is beyond poor compared to theirs. Pooch seems unable to change tactics mid match. Without some signings in Jan and eithDon out for five matches I cannot see us winning fa once again this season.

Just noticed Rose got motm..I thought he struggled to push forward today but he defended well..Tripps did better, Toby & Kane are beasts, Gazza was good but I’d go Sissoko for my motm just because I like people that hurt people (well, Chelsea players)..

      My motm was Gazza.

This win was a wake up call!

should be happy but both myself and Poxy are very flat.
Yes whilst it was a very commendable dogged defensive backs to the wall win we were outclassed and outplayed this eve by a Chelski side who bare minimum lacking a talisman deserved a share of the spoils.
Where was our midfield – disappeared?
      Alli – anonymous
      Son – underpar
      Sissoko is Sissoko
Winks – neat and tidy but we know that
Eriksen failed to make any impact.

Poch should have brought both Lamela and Llorente to hold the ball up long before the end.

Like Liverpool who emphatically beat us at Wembley at the start of the season, men against boys, fully outclassed by a Chelski side let down by their finishing who on the balance of play deserved a share of the spoils.

Simply to hold the ball up IMO LLorente should have been brought on for the ineffective Alli (by no means the only ineffective player – Eriksen, Son and midfield coming into this category) long before the end.
