The Daily Mail are running with the line…

At the end, few Spurs players acknowledged their supporters and when coach Steffen Freund tried to usher Aaron Lennon towards them, Lennon pushed Freund’s arm away and stormed down the tunnel.

My belief is that the players didn’t do themselves any favours on Saturday, it was difficult to choose who had the worst game. But the issue is deeper than that.

It’s my unusually charitable belief that attacking the players isn’t helpful, not at this stage. As I replied to a beloved reader earlier, players are young guys earning more in a week than most of us earn in a year. That’s not fair or right, but it’s true.
Most of them are thick. Stoopido. Not bright. Gormless. Away with the fairies. Sensitive little bitches.

In an ideal world, players would walk through walls, just for the badge. In an ideal world, a man being paid £80,000 for 90 minutes work a week might do more or less whatever the most seasoned prostitute might do.

But we don’t live in an ideal world. Screaming at players doesn’t work, employing chancers without a CV doesn’t work. The blame lies with the people running the business, not its employees.

But back to Azza.

Did the fans not deserve even a small token of acknowledgement?
