So we wake up this morning to discover that Josh Onomah is to be loaned out to Aston Villa. Personally, I’d loan out just about every haircut whose name is in the public domain. Edwards, Carter’s Knickers, Peters & Lee, and Onomah too.

Whilst they are all good prospects. Long is the way. And hard, that out of Hell leads up to Light. As Harry Kane and Andros Townsend proved.

None of these guys are Premier League standard and only fans in the deepest clutches of Levy’s Stockholm Syndrome that swallow the myth suggesting otherwise.

Levy sits on American TV peddling this cobblers about these lads being worth £20/£30/£40million whilst Poch greets this news with his head shaking left and right like a confused character in a Scooby Do cartoon ‘tink-a-tink-a-tink-a-tink-a-tink’.

Onomah to Villa will further prove Levy to be a con man.

    Re: Newcastle game from THFC:

“Season ticket holders with 160 or more loyalty points who applied by the deadline have been successful and will be issued with a match ticket. Please note that this does mean that only One Hotspur members who renewed their season tickets at Wembley Stadium have been successful. Those supporters who have upgraded from One Hotspur Bronze to a season ticket during this year’s renewal period have not been successful.”

    Fuck you THFC!

Wise words Dr, I too have suffered the slings and arrows of supporting the Yid cause. At least you were surrounded by other football fans. For me growing up in NZplaying football and brazenly supporting Spurs. I ‘banter’ began with being called a poof, and went downhill from there. I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed the last two years immensely, even with two Leicester fans in my team.

  • JuandeInternational August 4, 2017 at 5:27 pm

Good move. He does okay and Villa buy or he gets enough exposure to be flogged to another club at Villa’s level. Makes a tits of it and he can be moved on to ply his trade with all the other might have beens at somewhere ending with the word Town.

Levys smooching up to the FL and talking about a permanent NFL team in London is a little worrying.

The vast monies to be had in America with the NFL would surely mean that ENIC would themselves want to OWN the team not just rent the stadium ut t a team owned by someone else.

What impact would this have on Tottenham Hotspur Football Club?

How long until we start playing 2nd fiddle to an NFL team and the moneymen?

What’s your source for this story, H?

It’s been generally reported that Pochettino is an admirer of Onomah and that he’ll get some game time with us this year. And as we all (should) know by now, a loan out nowadays is merely the first step of a process that culminates with a sale. So something doesn’t add up.

Personally, I don’t think he (or any of the others you mentioned) will be going out on loan this season.

    Buy a newspaper mate.

  • digiyid August 4, 2017 at 11:21 am

Despite he was outstanding in the U20 WC in June helping England win the cup, i personally NEVER thought the boy had what it takes to be a top Premiership Player. I still dont think he will make it as a good footballer. He lacks a lot in his game . Probably playing him in Dembele position might help but he will follow the footsteps of Pritchard if you ask me. Levy is conning public and the fans but the reality will always be different. He has no choice now to go and sign at least 3-4 players..lets hope he spends the money on worthy rather than Sissokos of this market

  • Bruxie August 4, 2017 at 11:10 am

    WTF is going on?

We’re told that the kids will step up and that our squad is strong enough.

If Josh goes then there must be a return clause.

What’s the plan? Play the same eleven for all of our competitions? No kids left for the league and FA Cups (early stages).
We can only hope that the players earmarked by Poch have been primed to hang on until 31st and that all personal terms have been “agreed” already in order that a swift eleventh hour bid can be made at less than market value.
Spurs must have a guarantee from the short listed player(s) that they won’t go elsewhere.
Or is that too much like common sense?

I really cannot remember such a level of complacency – by any team – pre-season.

Even if we sign someone today it’ll be unlikely that they’ll play in the early fixtures.

    • Freund or Foe August 4, 2017 at 11:14 am

It`s a loan Brux, supposedly. So definitely a return clause included.

      • Bruxie August 4, 2017 at 11:18 am

Some loans are season long…some allow a return during the season.

Personally if I was Villa I’d insist on a season long no return clause.
Why disrupt a squad mid season?

        • UnkleTaff August 4, 2017 at 11:20 am

Indeed. Bournemouth’s season last year was severely disrupted when Chelsea recalled Nathan Ake in January.

        • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 11:21 am

If he’s loaned, it’s normally standard we could call him back – but only in January, I think.

If he’s being loaned out however, it may be because he’s a bit shit.

          • digiyid August 4, 2017 at 11:23 am

and he is a bit of that..We said the same thing for Rose once HH:)

          • Bruxie August 4, 2017 at 11:26 am

I don’t think the January bit applies between PL and Championship.
I may be incorrect but I can recall instances where players have returned to parent clubs because of injuries to themselves or because of injuries in the parent squad at any time during the season provided there is a clause in the loan agreement.

            • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 11:29 am

To be honest mate, if he’s going to be loaned out, it simply proves he’s not as wonderful as some of you lunatics suggest.

Personally I think he’s a very very forgettable footballer.

              • Bruxie August 4, 2017 at 11:35 am

I agree about his performances so far.

He needs hardening up and will get that from the Championship if he plays regularly. Sending him out on loan to sit on a bench is stupid. Might save his wages but might see him in Div. 1 next season.

Playing in front of Terry should be fun!

Can hardly see him trying to improve one of our players!

                • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 11:49 am

He’s going out on loan Taff. Believe it.

    • Dan B August 4, 2017 at 10:47 am

It’s being widely reported. I disagree that a loan usually means a sale in the long run….otherwise Harry Kane would be at Orient, Norwich, Millwall or Leicester. Players are normally loaned out to get regular competitive first team experience, some don’t make the grade afterwards for sure but I think the idea is to develop the boys game. He isn’t ready for regular PL football, also the position he wants to play, he’d be 5th choice, maybe 6th

      • UnkleTaff August 4, 2017 at 10:53 am

“It’s been widely reported” means little these days. One online outlet publishes the story and everyone else rides off the back of it.

And name me name me one player since Pochettino atrived who has been loaned out and who is still at the club.

I won’t believe this until I actually see it happen.

*But*, if Pochettino has had a change of heart and is prepared to loan him out I would have thought that this loan (along with that of Sissoko) presumably means that someone has been lined up to come in?

        • Devonshirespur August 4, 2017 at 11:00 am

It is usually the case under Poch that Loan = Eventual Sale but i think that in this instance we are well stocked in Onomahs strong position of CM. He’s had some game time mainly in wide areas and not really shone.

With Wanyama, Dier, Dembele, Winks we have options centrally and i suspect we’ll probably get more in this area, someone ready to go, not still learning the game. Dembele is 30 and Onomah looks to be a possible replacement in time…hopefully he’ll be played centrally for Villa and really develop.

Other loanees…Bentaleb, Pritchard and so on were never fancied by Poch, mainly for their attitudes, and their loans were a stepping stone out. Poch does seem to like Onomah and is probably hopeful he will come back a better player

    • Panama Paul August 4, 2017 at 10:58 am

Maybe we’ve decided to follow the Chelsea model for wealth creation – trafficking young footballers. None of the Academy are anywhere near first team quality so they may as well make themselves useful to ENIC to reduce expenditure and maximise profits by going out on loan. Who knows, some may even develop into real footballers..

  • Dan B August 4, 2017 at 10:43 am

I think based on the craziness of this window….why wouldn’t Onomah be worth near £20mil? I’m not saying that I believe he is, but….English player, World Cup winner, PL experience, young player, yet to reach the peak of his game. what does that cost in today’s market? Does he have 1/10th of Neymars ability….probably.

I did H. Last loan to Aston Villa I recall was Kyle Walker and we ended up with 54m but more importantly 4 or 5 years excellent service from someone who turned into arguably one of the best RBs in Europe . It’s a good move I think.

        • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 10:33 am

Interesting that in your haste to be clever, you avoided the key point – if Onomah needs loaning then does his name come off Levy’s list of players that are worth up to £40million?

If he WAS on the list, and he’s not worth millions, then what does that say of others who have had even less game time?

I don’t know why you are posting this weak-minded comment either.

My money is on you not replying with anything sensible, but instead blushing a bit and then pissing off.

So by the same logic Janssen can’t get in the team regular enough because Kane is in the way.

Kanes value must be somewhere between £160-£180M (based on Neymar at £200M)

Therefore Janssen must be worth at least half!?

      Janssen for £80M anyone?

Jesus wept. I’m not suggesting the raft of youngsters we have in stock are yet premier league standard, but has no one at THFC noticed we don’t actually have anyone else at all?! The chaff has been so heavily chipped away at that there’s no longer a Fazio, Mason or Benetleb to sit on the bench! Unless we sign a second 11 I don’t even see how we’ll fill the bench anymore- who exactly is going to make up our squad if we loan out our prospects?!

  • golden cockerel August 4, 2017 at 9:42 am

you guys are all missing the best thing about this loan deal. and that’s that it suggests we are probably going to sign a similarly positioned central/attacking mid soon, likely barkley or adrien silva

  • East Stand August 4, 2017 at 9:25 am

Levy has a vision of Spurs being the only club in the world that can be successful via the polishing of turds. He actually believes that this is a thing.

Anything else is “Unsustainable”, his response to any accusation of him being a cheapskate…

    • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 10:16 am

‘Unsustainable’ what a doll he is.

  • Devonshirespur August 4, 2017 at 9:19 am

You just don’t get it do you !

For the same reason a manager is not going to come out an say “Player A was rubbish today” or “Player B is no good and we want to sell him”, Levy is not going to talk down or undermine our players/club. Everton, amazing, so well run, splashing the cash freely Everton spent £30m on a 22 year old GK who spent 1 season in this league and was relegated. Take that as a benchmark and you could easily make a case for some of our younglings being worth big money.

Levy is selling our club – not in the way you’d hope for – but you do not do that by sitting there and stating that the first 14 players are quality but beyond that we have some hit and miss youth who may come good. We do look to bring youth through, proactively. It’s a strategy, so he is not lying to say this is how we approach our business. But we do also buy players.

We are operating in a market where PSG have spent £200m on 1 player, City have spent £50m a head on 4 new defenders/GK, and Utd £40m on a 28 year old part-timer from Chelsea. It’s madness and if you look outside of these massive clubs, and EFCs new money, few teams have done any serious business. Again, Levy has said that its not sustainable and he’s right. He’s talking about the mass spending that is occurring (City £350m under Pep, Utd £250m under Jose) and the stupidly high individual fees being paid. If selling clubs now think they can ask ridiculous fortunes for players just because City/Utd/CFC are willing to stump up no questions asked, then Levy’s statement is a reminder that not all teams will operate like that. We will spend but we will not be stupid in the way we do it.

As for Onomah to Villa, a decent move. A big club with expectations to be pushing for promotion this season. He wont be able to drift or be complacent, or show off. The Championship doesnt let you show off, you’ll get kicked up in the air. Could be a really good experience for him in a tough competitive league where Villa are expected to be one of the best teams.

    • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 9:31 am

So who was Levy talking about at the NASDAQ event, then?

      • Devonshirespur August 4, 2017 at 10:07 am

you said yourself we cannot rely on Onomah et al, we need proper options.

Levy was referring to our youth, Onomah, Edwards etc and he may have been over stating the point / their value (again, you dont undersell your assets when selling the club to a new market), but the truth is we look to promote from within where the market offers no value.

You must be the most honest person alive if you are so affronted by the reality that you cannot take every word Levy utters at face value.

Lies/bravado/bluff/sales patter…whatever it is who cares, its not a story. What matters is what our squad looks like on 1st Sept. You’d hope that if Onomah is to go on loan there’s plans a foot for a replacement….mind you I thought that about Walker.

        • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 10:14 am

‘May’ he was dramatically overstating their value. And it was news to Poch.

Any of the young players of note in our first team who came recently ended up there via loans or having had proper experience at other teams previously to us. Kane, Rose, Walker, Dele, Dier et all.

All of the players who have come directly into the first team have generally struggled. Caulker, Carter-Vickers, Carrol, Onomah.

Winks is the only one who has been doing ok, and yet he still looks lacking in that physical aggression – which banging around in the Championship gives a young lad. He certainly has the talent, but so did Carrol.

We have yet to have a single player come out of the academy and cement their place in the first 11. This season will see if Winks is the first. So this idea we are pumping out first team players from ‘our own’ is a fallacy.

  • Camus August 4, 2017 at 9:10 am

In other news, with the season kicking off next weekend, it’s reassuring to know that Levy is focussed on the really important stuff like loaning kids to Villa, as opposed to strengthening the squad. In effect, we’re weakening the squad further before the big kick-off. ☺️

  • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 9:06 am

Some sports people and fans have their lucky undies. Unfortunately, CCTV isn’t a lucky pair. In both games I’ve seen him play, he’s conceded a penalty (very unlucky against Roma) and generally looked slow, shambling and shite. If this guy is the next Ledley King, it must be because of his frequenting Essex night clubs.

  • AccringtonSpurs August 4, 2017 at 8:59 am

I’d say this is a bold move from Poch. He’s given the lad a fair crack over the last year or two to prove himself in training and cameos. He’s had ample time to assess him and work out he’s not quite up to scratch and doesn’t affect games. So loaning him out will either miraculously improve him, or beef up his value for eventual sale.

The good news is we aren’t going to be reliant on him as an attacking substitute this season (when he’s been developed previously as a CM).

  • John Flynn August 4, 2017 at 8:56 am

It’s great news for the boy , villa will probably be one of the favorites for there league , hopefully he breaks into their first xi and comes back next year ready to step up .however for us I’m left wondering if we’re even going to have a bench to fill .si far I’d say vorm n Jansen are the only 2 sitting on it

  • madcap August 4, 2017 at 8:48 am

Loaning Onomah to Villa is an excellent idea. He will get far more minutes on the field than he would with Spurs, and as Harry Kane has proved, being loaned out does not mean you are not a Premier League player.

    • Harry Hotspur August 4, 2017 at 8:55 am

Good grief, Aston Villa are a CHAMPIONSHIP club.

    • John Flynn August 4, 2017 at 9:00 am

In Fairness Kane wasn’t at premier league standard when he got back from his loan spells, in fact you could say he tonked at every single championship club he was at.so wasn’t even championship standard.nobody knows how Kane became so good , maybe just good old fashioned hard work but it wasn’t anything to do with his Loan spells that’s for sure

  • col August 4, 2017 at 8:47 am

Levy has his uses, but as a football talent spotting expert he is sadly blind.I am sure at any time he could tell you how many bog rolls or paper clips were on site but his record of getting the player that Tottenham needed at that time to reach their potential and move onward and upward is woeful. He has squandered millions on wasters and let amazing players go to inferior clubs for bargain prices. So frustrating.
