Talk about feast or famine. According to the Evening Standard Dele Alli is due too have his salary boosted up to £100,000 a week – which will double his current £50,000 a week remuneration.

These are both ‘basic’ figures and as Christian Eriksen has proven, the bonus money can soon mount up. I asked Gladys what sort of extension the Milton Keynes rude boy might commit to and was simply told ‘expect a long one’.

Getting these contracts settled with the key men before the World Cup has to be the only way. Tottenham do not want any of their internationals to draw the club into a series of unsightly transfer speculation when everyone should be focused on the New Destination™.

There is still no word on the Mousa Demebele situation which is almost as unsurprising as it is concerning.

An intermittently crocked pensioner is of little use to anyone. Transfer rumour wise it is as you will have noticed, painfully quiet.

Fingers crossed this isn’t more money being saved by ENIC, who routinely refuse ti get business down early.

I wonder how the Brexit negotiations would have progressed had Trump been our PM? None of this pandering to Eurocratic neo- liberalism demands I suspect. Would be fun watching the body language and listening to the dialogue between Trump and Barnier.

    • Gloster1861 June 12, 2018 at 11:55 am

I suspect it would have been a categorical ‘hard brexit’. We leave in 2019 and that’s it. Then it would have been in the court of the EU to come crawling to the UK for a deal.

The way the EU negotiators have been cynically using the Northern Ireland border as a bargaining chip shows what scum they truly are.

      • Gloster1861 June 12, 2018 at 12:04 pm

In case you may be unaware, the Republic of Ireland and the UK have different VAT rates amongst other differences, bu this hasn’t warranted a hard border. But now the EU can see a chance to muddy the waters to their despicable advantage.

    • Harry Hotspur June 12, 2018 at 12:42 pm

That’s not quite true. The climate always changes, it has for billions of years. It is a continual process, as are the plates of earth moving around.

What is debatable is how much humans are contributing. And even more mad to think we can keep things as they are now.

We’ll see how much he actually end up changing in the end, America need to trade with the rest of the world to employ its people. That Rust Belt’s soon gonna be kicking out thousands of Buicks and Chevys by the hour. The overseas order book is going to be empty is it? That’s the plan? Ok…

It’s purely a matter of opinion SB, the window dressing all looks good but what has he done yet exactly?

In my opinion N Korea have been used as a ‘Dr Evil’ in Trump’s PR and his trade beef with China. Did they ever have the capacity to strike anywhere other than South Korea?

In which case this is a local issue that has been going on between the North and South for decades. Yet again, as with these tin pot dictators in the Middle East, they become a useful tool to excuse meddling in places on then other side of the world.

Nothing has changed in real terms and what has Trump actually done when you analyse it apart from say a lot of things?

Is the Rust Belt re-employed? Has the wall been built? Nope.

I would credit him with stuff if he actually achieved something as I’m not a ‘snowflake’ and neither do I ‘hate’ him. I just seem him as a very good self promoter but as in his previous business ventures, the actual end result generally not so impressive…

I’m not sucked in by his bullshit.

      • Sexy Beast June 12, 2018 at 9:12 am

  • Syd June 12, 2018 at 5:21 am

    Hi Harry,
In your calculations about wages you come up with a balance. May I ask did your calculations take into account (guesstimates I know) players being sold and leaving or do you think that will all even out with new payers coming in.
I honestly think we could sell 6 or 7 and get 3 quality players in and be better.
    We could sell
    Sissoko
    N’Koudou
    Janssen
    Llorente
    Onomah
    Edwards
    Davies
    Carter-Vickers
    Aurier

and then there are the perhapsers like Toby, Rose and Mousa.

Other than Mousa, Toby and Rose we would definitely not be weakened by losing any of the others, however these three simply because of the ongoing speculation.
The total for all the wages above must be astronomical.

    • Harry Hotspur June 12, 2018 at 8:03 am

Hi MiT- my figures didn’t include players sales etc and I who.eheartedly agree with the notion of losing up to 7 and replacing with a more robust 3. Quality over quantity 👍

Define “brave”. I do not think it means what he thinks it means

    • Gloster1861 June 12, 2018 at 7:38 am

Well it’s clear no business will be concluded early as requested by MoPo. That ship has sailed.

I’m pleased he’s getting contracts and wages sorted. But of course that was essential to maintaining the status quo, it isn’t moving us upwards.

      • Camus June 12, 2018 at 8:04 am

  • MiT June 11, 2018 at 11:59 pm

NO on any Eriksen for Bale exchange. Spurs do not operate well without Eriksen. Eriksen keeps himself fit, and does a fantastic job of avoiding injury.

As far as I’m concerned, Eriksen is more valuable than is Bale. At least to Spurs.

    • MiT June 12, 2018 at 12:03 am

    • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 11, 2018 at 9:55 pm

None of this malarky. We need to keep our stars while adding quality. At this rate half our team will be gone. Dembele, Toby, now Tin Tin. No no no. Typical Madrid. Few years ago they tap Bale up, stomp around unsettling everything until they get their way and now they are supposedly engineering a way of giving him back to us now they’ve used him up. Cockends. We build. We don’t exchange.

      • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 10:03 pm

I agree. But id still swap erikson for bale. 100% I would. He’s in the top five in the world for a reason. The mans an exceptional player. simple. Names that win games please. Apparently a nice chap too with a soft spot for my club.

        • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 10:04 pm

Erikson will never give me 20 goals a season

          • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 11, 2018 at 10:19 pm

Not 100% Bale will now. He’s still world class but he’s not the player we sold and he’s past his peak. Eriksen hasn’t reached his. Itl be exchanging someone coming to the autumn of their career with someone in ascent to balance the books again. I’d love Bale but not at cost of our main stars.

            • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 10:26 pm

How old do you think he is? He’s at his peak mate. He’s got years left thats even before he plays a deeper game. Levy will sell Eriksson before then. Love to have em both though. HE SCORES GOALS. Experienced winner.

              • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 10:27 pm

Madrid would have to add some millions too though.

29 just about I think. Injury ridden. Without that overhead kick we’d av got him for a decent price. I never saw him as a football brain, it was pace and that left foot. Its a gamble.

I suppose before any transfer activity is sanctioned, we need to see if any of our first eleven intend to jump ship. So this process of securing our core squad comes first; and of course totting up the new wages bill (once finalized) must also feed into any money left over to pay more wages for the ‘marquee’ signings, if any. I think the wages issue is crucial, transfer fees can be treated as investments and recouped if necessary by selling the player on (so long as they aren’t garbage like Sissoko). Wages once paid are gone forever.

If I’m Daniel, I’m thinking tying Kane, Dele and Eriksen down to longterm deals = £500m in assets in case the stadium funding goes tits up.

DL’s dream is probably to build casinos in Vegas.

    • Lord Croker June 11, 2018 at 7:08 pm

‘longterm deals = £500m in assets’ Yes. He’s praying they remain injury free.

            HA! Precisely, spot on!

    • is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? June 11, 2018 at 8:47 pm

That’s it. He knows he’s got massive profit cash from 4 or 5 players and the manager if need be. Like I said before, itl be interesting to see who’s here in 3 years.

  • Bobby June 11, 2018 at 6:08 pm

OK, so who are these brilliant “first eleven” I keep hearing about? For me there are glaring issues with the perceived first eleven players as well as suspect personnel in the squad rotation picks.

I’m sorry but apart from Dele and Kane you’d swap out Son and Lamela for any of the other AMs in the top four (Mane, Martial etc. We also need upgrades in CM (looking at you Wayama and Dembele) and our so called wing-backs, as much as I like them, are not champions league quality. Both of last year’s first choices, Davies and Tripps, got skinned alive by any opposition with a bit of pace. Looking at the rest of the squad -there’s a heap of deadwood needs binning off to mid-table teams (where are Sunderland & Stoke when you need them) and the newbies, such as the mental Auier and the Brazilian Townsend, Moura, need to hit the new season running or they’ll be a waste of a squad number by Xmas.

The take-away is there’s lots to do rather than just tinkering. Fix the spine of the team and then look for a bit of gloss for the old girl.

    • Harry Hotspur June 11, 2018 at 6:10 pm

I think Poch needs to completely rethink his back line.

      • Bobby June 11, 2018 at 6:12 pm

That’s what the Spurs medical team is for. I’m more interested in who we’re looking at in the wide positions and who replaces Toby. Another 18 year old who’s main priority this summer is to complete his Panini album?

        • Harry Hotspur June 11, 2018 at 6:20 pm

Hahahahah – and get a high score on Fortnight

Just wait until ordering something as small as a box of paper clips involves donning a VR headset and surrendering a DNA swap of your saliva at check-out so ‘they’ can predict when you’re going to die and your American-style health insurance premiums shoot through the roof because you ate a hamburger at the gastro pub rather than a salad.

And Daniel Levy is injected with nanites which ensure he never ages as they repair the ageing molecules in his body. This is highly likely, but technology will be restricted to the stinking rich as no one wants tens of billions of oiks spoiling the view.

    • Gloster1861 June 11, 2018 at 6:16 pm

So that’s why we’ve finished top three for the last three years?

And above ‘wonderful’ Liverpool ever since Suarez deserted them.

      • Gloster1861 June 11, 2018 at 6:17 pm

PS not saying you called them wonderful, but the drooling media slaver over Klopp and his team.

      • Bobby June 11, 2018 at 6:26 pm

My point is our first eleven isn’t as brilliant as a few on here seem to think it is. If it was we’d have won the league or at least a pot. I have no time for ‘Pool but I can recognise that Mane is a level above Lamela and Son for pace, constancy, assists, goals, and general threat. I’d love to see what Poch could do with Martial but that’s not going to happen.

If Levy or Poch for one minute thinks this team just needs a little fairy dust then we’re in for a hard season. There are key positions that need upgrades to move us up from top 3 and further in the Champions League bake sale.

    • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 6:35 pm

So youd like to see four new players starting next season? Nooooooo. Would like to see four quality players brought in though.

      • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 6:40 pm

We also need a seasoned senior winner leader on a fr££

        • caveman June 11, 2018 at 6:42 pm

That’s the one thing I would agree with. A winner an old winner, 31 or so that’s done it all and won it all.

          • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 6:43 pm

Yep. Tell them boys “take them fucking headphones off and listen!!!

      • Bobby June 11, 2018 at 6:41 pm

Absolutely! Man Utd needed new blood and they’ve gone out and bought three already. I want quality upgrades to players who are not going to move us on in the league or further in euro comps.

Hand on heart you know who they are.

        • Harry Hotspur June 11, 2018 at 6:56 pm

    • Al June 11, 2018 at 7:58 pm

You wouldn’t swap Son for Martial. Nor Mane based on last season. Let’s be fair to the boy.

I’m reminded of a recurring sketch in the comedy show ‘Big Train’ whereby three employees come into the boss’s office to ask about their promised bonuses. He keeps distracting them by doing card tricks/ juggling oranges/puppies in a drawer, then bolting out of the office each time.

On the surface this appears really sound. I still retain hope we will add to and strengthen the squad.

  • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 5:55 pm

My guy dembs gonna prove he’s one of the best ballers in the world at the world cup. There’s no way levy will sell him before then. Two great seasons left in him. Does he deserve a 3 year contract? Bloody YES. You need man like him in the camp.

    • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 5:57 pm

      CL and PL games only

    • Harry Hotspur June 11, 2018 at 5:59 pm

Er… not at the money he wants…

      • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 6:04 pm

£110k a week plus bonuses. I’m sure he’d settle for that. Cant have all under 25s in the squad. Big man dem needed around the place to keep the bwoys dem in check.

        • Harry Hotspur June 11, 2018 at 6:11 pm

He wants lots more than that mate.

And a contract until he’s 34 or something daft.

          • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 6:28 pm

I’d try my hardest to sort something out I would. There must be something i can do to keep him at the club and finish his career here whilst doing his badges. My young players can learn off that man in the not to distant future. Same with tobes

            • Tappaspur June 11, 2018 at 6:30 pm

Met him at the Tottenham community centre. Top top fella.

Would love a few signings this summer however they do need to be the right ones, every other big six team is in their prime and we can’t be dicking about signing the likes of Sissoko. Our current 11 is already brilliant and next season we will hopefully see each and every one in their prime, no excuses. With some smart acquisitions we can hopefully not be so shit for the first half of the season. There could be great times ahead.

  • caveman June 11, 2018 at 5:39 pm

    Hope it’s true!
