There’s a pattern emerging. Personal terms agreed with Wilfried Zaha and yet Gladys now tells me that Spurs and Palace have since been involved in a game of musical chairs when it comes to the money. Glad said:

‘Big Wilf’s agent hasn’t stopped pushing the kid since Palace fought their way out of the relegation scrap. He knows there;s more money to be had now.’

It’s difficult to argue that the 24ย 25 year old’s value will have risen in line with the Eagles’, who have gone from bottom of the league to fourteenth.

Spurs have been monitoring the boy on and off for some time, and in this respect Palace’s revival couldn’t have come at a worse time. Equally, hopes of getting a deal done in the New Year must have also taken a significant hit.

More to the point, come the summer Glad assures me that Spurs won’t be the only Premier League side looking to snap Zaha up.

There was much snarling from one blocked toilet of a Palace blog when this ITK was announced and I look forward to seeing Zaha move in the summer. Wherever he goes to will be a significant upgrade. That’s is hardly a revelation of course.

I think our squad, on Saturday, should just go out and play football. Fuck all of this other tactical shit. Just take your talent and concentration and go get the fucking job done.

  • ronwol196061๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ December 20, 2017 at 2:26 pm

How else could we get through packed defences than create some space?????
What is the main thing we lack?
We often move the ball slowly down the field with square possession laden passes. Defences get tighter.
Creating or using space is the answer.
    Who are our creative players?

    The zone is Dele/Eriksen/Dembele/Winks
    and the wingbacks

    Thats it.

    Not good enough.

    • witTank December 20, 2017 at 2:41 pm

Spot on Ron. There’s zero pace. Some don’t realise that our attacking prowess over the 2 wonder years was down go Walker & Rose. Full stop.
Walker sold and we have a pedestrian Trippier who several of us warned after the ManU game he would get found by auick talented players like Martial. Witness game against Man C. Walker would have handled that no trouble.
Rose – about to be offloaded.
      Delve. SLOW. He’s been sussed.
Eriksen. Fabulous when he turns up.

      • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 2:58 pm

There you go, our attacking prowess over the past 2 seasons was exclusively down to Rose and Walker.
Walker provided 8 assists in that time. Rose provided 5 assists in those 2 seasons, and wasn’t present for the greatest run of wins in our history. So a hand in 13 goals out of 155.

        Fuck my old boots.

        • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 3:08 pm

Sorry, I didn’t include the goals they scored between them, what an arse.
That changes things completely, they had a hand in 16 goals out of 155.

          • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 3:09 pm

*17 of 155. And that’s my final offer.

With you all the way on this one, mate.
Eriksen was very creative for us last season – seems to have been written out of history.

              • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 3:22 pm

Funny you should say that mate. Eriksen was involved in 42 goals out of that 155.

Exactly, you’re indirectly helping me make my point.
The speed of walker and rose stretched play giving talented guys like Eriksen space to work their magic.

                  • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 3:33 pm

I can’t even be bothered any more. Yes, wiTank you fucking genius, we had no attacking prowess apart from Walker and Rose. Full stop.

Have you ever kicked a football :-)))
A couple of years ago I said Janssen was too slow for the Prem and some footballing nerd (probably you) said the stats proved he was one of the quickest in the league. Fuck me! And where is he now?
I’m not going to waste any further time on you if you can’t understand the basics of the game I’m trying to get across.
Normally I’d tell someone like you to go fuck themselves but if i did some nerd like you would give it a go ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

        • witTank December 20, 2017 at 3:20 pm

          Stats are for proofs ๐Ÿ™‚
I recall the start of the 15/16 season (the first good year if ive got the year wrong). We were devoid of width, speed and ideas. Poch transformed it by getting the full backs involved essentially transforming them as wingers, i.e. wing backs. That’s when it changed.
Pace creates panic in defences, opens space in front of the back line. It has a knock on effect and so has an indirect effect.
That’s why stats are mis leading at times and its best to use football intuition

In order the offset our poor form in the league this season (assuming we can’t get back in the placings) a strong run in the UCL, starting with putting Juve away, will be a must

A while back I mentioned that when i was younger the club motto was translated as “to dare is to accomplish” and it changed to “do” suddenly. It dawned on me earlier that change happened around the time ENIC took over, that’s apt cos we haven’t accomplished much on the pitch ever since but we just “do” things. Zaha will be on his way possibly to “do” stuff I expect without really accomplishing anything as the motto now dictates.

The schmuck cant cross a corner,is mow tertible with dead balks and cant create space. His best thing now is scoring.

    • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 12:43 pm

Eriksen has the 15th best minutes per assist rate OF THE ENTIRE PL ERA.
I can’t argue that he’s been off form this season, it’s evident for everyone to see.
But talk of him not being able to thread a pass through on goal is complete nonsense. He’s more than capable, just has not done it as regularly this season.

      • ronwol196061๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ December 20, 2017 at 12:47 pm

The pressing hasnt worked so space us limited. Our sideways passing has sliwed us down when the have the ball. We do well when teams allow us but they are more aeare niw if our limited tactics.
        We have too few answers.
Pkayers who canbthinkband create and see space works. We lack that

        • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 12:48 pm

So was it always true or not, Ron?

          • East Stand December 20, 2017 at 1:00 pm

It’s always been true, when you play well the tactics aren’t questioned but when you play badly everything is being questioned.

We’ve played well enough for long enough under Poch that the players should know the tactics and the difference between playing like muppets or a great team by now.

Could be a Poch element to the fact the players have lost some focus but it’s the players that have been the let down.

Dier flirting with Maureen, Rose gobbing of like a dickhead, Walker trebling his wages, Sissy being useless. Might have distracted the poor loves but Eriksen has NEVER been week-in week-out consistent and Delle is akin with big head.

Can we buy some more players with some fucking balls that are fit for purpose instead? Sorry, the balance sheet software has other plans…

            • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 1:06 pm

I’m not quite sure that you understood the initial question.

              • East Stand December 20, 2017 at 10:33 pm

                Oh well.

          • ronwol196061 December 20, 2017 at 1:08 pm

I think Eriksen was always limited. He did well when the field was open and he had time.Lately he hasnt had a much time or space especially closer to goal where he has lacked making things happen. Teams are playing us better generally but even before I found a lot of goals we got were due to teKanes work ethic..his sheer fight in pushing to get it even in traffic where Eriksen layed the ball off for the longest time and occasionally hit a great ball. Eriksen benefits from space open for him,he rarely makes space. He looks fearful most of the time although when he goes for goal I do see some of Greaves in him. I dont think he is really a great creative player though. And certainly cant turn a game

            • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 1:11 pm

Ok Ron. Eriksen can’t, and has never been able to thread a pass through on goal.

              • ronwol196061 December 20, 2017 at 1:13 pm

He has on occasion. But this team lacks creativity. Is that true????????????????

If you think its isnt we have little to discuss on the subject

                • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 1:16 pm

When have I stated that the current team doesn’t lack creativity??? Fuck me, it’s so obvious, even my 6 year old can see it.

What I can’t stand, in case you hadn’t noticed, are utter bollocks statements to prove a point.

Eriksen is more than capable, the most capable Tottenham player in PL history as far as assists go. And he isn’t doing it this season.

                  • ronwol196061 December 20, 2017 at 1:19 pm

If we are lacking creativity and Eriksen is billed our most create player it doesnt fucking add up then does it.

He is a fucking victim to the situation, not a game changer

                    • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 1:22 pm

                      Ok Ron, whatever.
I’ve agreed that Eriksen has been poor this season. I’ve agreed that our creativity is missing.
I don’t agree that Eriksen isn’t, or hasn’t ever been capable or threading a pas through on goal, as YOU suggested. If you can’t admit that it was a false statement, we’ll leave it there.

I admit that Eriksen can thread a ball.Ive seen him do it . He just doesnt make things happen enough (in my opinion) he goes missing for days but he isnt alone.Dele has been worse. Dele gets more flak than Eriksen but we need to rely on our best players and they are two of our best players and are in support of Kane. Its Son that works his arse off and fights for every ball. Not Dele or Eriksen. If they fough a half or quarter of what Son puts in we would not have this problem.

                    • ronwol196061 December 20, 2017 at 1:28 pm

Dele can get phtydical but he has been out of sorts. Eriksen never was physical so the only thing he has left is his creativity. We need creativity. This is it in a nutshell

Gus its obvious that Poch has no interest in players that can thread the needle.
They need tobstrictly play his system
Creativity is a bonus and oversight for him.
Its the very problem we have and have had.
Getting the ball down the field and creating goals is by far our biggest problem

            • ronwol196061๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ December 20, 2017 at 12:29 pm

Lamela has more balls than Eriksen and has a go more and will try even when the going gets tough but as a creator he too is not great.

Zaha, Dembele II, Sessegnon, all typical Levy moves. Talent identified, deals can be done only for Daniel to nickel and dime the selling team into calling the deal off, with the call some time later that these players are now excellent and all of the big clubs are in for them (for much more money)

    • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 12:10 pm

      Fakinel, more inside knowledge.
How do I get a piece of this pie?? I believe in Levy and the project, protect it and him to the hilt on here, and yet those that believe him to be a vile monster seem to get a constant flow of information about our club’s dealings.

      • Harry Hotspur December 20, 2017 at 10:55 am

Then we’re seriously fucked because possession counts for virtually nothing – and we’ve won nothing.

We’ve had very respectable possession against teams that sodomised us. No thanks.

        • ronwol196061๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ December 20, 2017 at 11:48 am

Its funny because Bielsas system is built for not having possession. Its a bit like North American ice hockey where they give up possession to hit it deep.in the opponents half and skate in to hem them in.
Except now when we have possession we have no fucking idea what to do with it.
We are built for the counter but the counter inly works if the defence can hold the other teams.
The counter does not work against a team that park the bus either so its fucking limited.
Thats why Eriksen and Dele and Dembele and Winks are so important but they have no fucking vision

          • gus December 20, 2017 at 12:00 pm

Maybe. Maybe I’ve always thought he was shit. Or maybe it’s his 66% pass success rate this season. Maybe it’s because he is supposed to be a “winger” type player, but has no assists this season, and 0.7 crosses per game.

But you’re probably right, I thought he was shit 4 years ago, don’t ever watch him play, and am too short sighted to change my mind.

I’d like a mongrel Zaha, Ronaldo and Messi – a Zarossi. Quicker than HotPoint or WhirlPool.

  • chrism090861 December 20, 2017 at 10:04 am

I still think his failed stint at Manure follows him around a bit. I wouldn’t mind a punt on him, but not at an inflated price. I think he would add pace, and he can beat a man too, so in that respect i think he would add something..

I am not sure I am a fan of Zaha, I am definitely not of sure in his ability as he seems to be. That said, we need players in our squad that Poch will actually use, we currently have a 26 man squad, but looking at performances and the square peg round hole approach you would think we only 15 players (and 4 of them are full backs on constant rotation).

  • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 9:42 am

Other clubs in for him in the summer? In that case, I sincerely hope we can’t strike a deal in Jan.

  • SpurAndy December 20, 2017 at 9:41 am

Not sure I understand the logic that their revival has come out a bad time re Zaha. Surely they’d be less likely to let him go if they’re trying to get out of the mire? Think hed be a useful asset.

    • Harry Hotspur December 20, 2017 at 9:46 am

Zaha wants out – and money is the bottom line. Palace cannot fend off money and a desire to walk.

      Palace’s revival boosts his worth.

      • 1882 December 20, 2017 at 9:51 am

I think Andy is implying that Palace revival will reduce the chances of us getting him…and that is a good thing in his books. Personally I am on the fence, I just want players Poch feels will help us, so he will actually put them on the pitch rather than playing the same tired 15 players regardless of the dross they put out!

      • SpurAndy December 20, 2017 at 9:53 am

Yep gotcha, but still stands that they’d never let him go in Jan if they’re clinging on by their fingernails. He could be the difference in their survival. Either way probably means we ain’t going to get him which will please fofty ๐Ÿ˜

        • Harry Hotspur December 20, 2017 at 9:58 am

          ‘theyโ€™d never let him go’

If Chelsea (for example) offered ยฃ45m they’d delivered him with a bow on his head and a fruit basket ๐Ÿคฃ

        • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 10:00 am

We think Dele is wasteful with a 78% pass success rate, Zaha sits at 66%. The only player we have worse than that is Hugo.
The closest thing you could find to a winger, yet an average of 0.7 crosses per match, and no assists yet this season. Not exactly playing to Palace’s strengths, is it?

          • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 10:05 am

            But he can run fast…..

            • Harry Hotspur December 20, 2017 at 10:08 am

You may well have discovered the secret to the mystery off the pyramids there.

              I’d forgotten about his ‘nippiness’

              • Freund or Foe December 20, 2017 at 10:10 am

Zaha is what Cluedo would look like at Palace.

                • Harry Hotspur December 20, 2017 at 10:59 am

                  Perchance to dream…

          • SpurAndy December 20, 2017 at 10:07 am

Pah, I think facts are vastly overrated.

            • Harry Hotspur December 20, 2017 at 10:08 am

              Darn tootin’

          • Harry Hotspur December 20, 2017 at 10:07 am

Palace are shit, Zaha is shit.

I trust that makes my personal position on the entire situation quite clear โ˜บ๏ธ I hadn’t delved into his stats but would have been stunned if they weren’t abysmal.

            • chrism090861 December 20, 2017 at 10:12 am

Stop beating around the bush Harry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚
