Yesterday this dreadful blog plummed new depths by quoting a newspaper article that cited Tottenham Hotspur Football Club had only placed a bid of £11million for AZ striker, Vincent Janssen.
And that AZ believed the player was worth at least £17million.
It would appear that the source article may have been incorrect and that the true figure offered by Spurs was more like £15million or even £16.5million as has been widely reported elsewhere.
In summary Spurs are significantly closer to whatever fee AZ are seeking.
So this situation is even more pitiful that first reported.
Despite having had a dialogue with AZ and having flown out to negotiate in person, Spurs’ money suddenly appears to be no good.
In fact a representative of AZ has said they no longer wish to sell at all.
It is understood Tottenham proposed to spread payments over a three-year period – a suggestion resisted by AZ. “We don’t want to let Vincent go for €18m. We hope he stays,” said the technical director, Max Huiberts.
Can any of my readers make any plausible suggestions as to why this situation has apparently gone down the toilet?
