Home » A Lie & A Truth

Good evening.

That’s a lie. Good or anything approaching goodliness are complete strangers to me and the suffocating remorse of the last of the big time drinkers is, well …it’s suffocating.

That’s not the lie however.

No that comes Glad tells me, in the form of the tale that Arsenal enquired about Clinton Cards. The old girl is convinced this was an attempt at spin.

A lame if not downright peculiar attempt at making N’Jie’s departure look less like it is.

Why Arsenal would want a player that can’t make our bench doesn’t stand up to even the tiniest scrutiny.

The truth is the boy Cards was a disastrous Levy punt that Poch couldn’t get a tune out of.

Dragging the poor Gooners into it was merely a kinder way of announcing that the poor kid had been handed his sandwiches, wrapped in a road map.

Marseille are the lucky recipients.

French media outlets are saying that N’Jie will join Marseille on loan with a €7m to buy clause, which will come into effect after the Cameroonian international plays a certain number of matches for OM and as long as the club is not relegated to Ligue 2.

A spectacular bit of business that has cost the club about €3million, the lad’s wages, and kept us with just one striker all season.

It will be fascinating to see what OM bill him as when they take him. Perhaps ‘goalkeeper’.

Meanwhile, a real football club in the north west have agreed a £25m deal to sign Netherlands international Georgina Wijnaldum.

But that’s okay because lots of Spurs fans online are convinced he was (a) overpriced (b) wouldn’t fit in Poch’s system anyway.

Now let me see, pay the going rate for a Premier League grade footballer, or lose money fannying about with an expensive dud?

No I can’t work it out, I guess you must need a 1st in Economics & Land Management to crack that one…
