Ade Having Private Jet Built, Kaboul Back In Training On Monday

Picture 14

The press conference at the Spurs training ground this morning has revealed that our friend Emmanuel Adebayor is in fact on his way back to us.

…we’re trying to establish the best flight connections for him” AVB

Now at the risk of being accused of someone looking for problems, is the Togo time waster now trying to make out the place he’s staying in has no Internet? I was accused of running with a made up piece yesterday, by one or two. If you really want a cock and bull version of events then try reading this in Lancenet.

In which there is an invented tale of Ade making it to the airport, seeing that their booked flight made an additional stop at Johannesburg which Ade & Co. thought would …yes you’ve guessed it, waste time. So our hero Emmanuel supposedly hired a private jet, which he paid for there and then out of his own back pocket. What a load of manure. Why isn’t he back yet then?

Illuminating comparisons can of course by made by seeing who else travelled from the Premier League to the African Cup Of Nations and when they got back, if they were fit etc.

On Eunice Kaboul and the Midget Gem there were decent updates, the Frenchman will resume some class of training from Monday:

It’s going to be his first training session since August so we have to be very careful… He has to catch up, but with the tremendous willingness he has to come back, hopefully within 2 to 3 weeks.”

On Defoe, his ankle will mean he’s out again, for two or possibly three weeks:

It’s good news in the end because it could have been further damage to his ankle.”

  1. Great news about Kaboul.

  2. Ade he plays when he wants too, he will be back for Lyon he said that much :Censored:

  3. KaaaaaaaBOOOOOOOOOOOM!

  4. As posted before, if Ade’s (who I thought should’ve been hanged for going btw), has been having a few extra days resting and chilling out in a luxury hotel, that’s a good thing surely? If however, he then complains about being ‘shattered’ then it’s treason!

    • …why should he have been hanged for going? The Africa Cup of Nations is about as close as he’s going to get to a major international tourney like the World Cup…..if you buy African players, expect them to play in the Cup of Nations, its not exactly a surprise tournament. As for being late back, agree with you…there’s no jet lag from S.Africa, so why not a couple of days by the pool instead of wet morning in Essex? HH clearly hates him for his own reasons but I think we should get behind him and the rest of the team and stop moaning so much

      • Because he said he wasn’t going and assured the club the same-that’s why!

        • …girls can change their minds, so why not footballers?

          • Because… and I’m guessing here, the winter period would’ve been discussed and a plan made accordingly. Which if he said he was going early doors, I’m guessing AVB may have looked further afield for a possible replacement instead of assuming Ade was good to his word only to find out a few weeks before he’s a bloke who’s self interest is paramount..maybe?

            • What kind of plan might that be?

              • I gave you the opportunity to discuss this (with TBH’S blessing) and you bottled it!

                • I don’t care much for HH’s “blessings” ;-)

No bottling, just find it slightly curious that you feel having 1 striker might stoke the club into action, but not 1.5. Especially as there was literally nobody we could have brought in in either scenario. That’s all!

                  • Last word on this subject-I get fed up with your squirming and twisting whenever the subject doesn’t go your way-So,I thought the best way as to do it as i proposed..firstly because there’s not a singular answer and secondly to do it live, doesn’t allow either of us to do a Chbby Chekker and twist of it-there’s my reasoning-and that’s it as far as I’m concerned

                    • I don’t have the face for radio.

                    • That’s cool, so we’ll move on then-no problem

                    • SpurredoninDublin

                      @essex 11.54

I agree he is allowed to change his mind, but my issue is with the ACON itself. I don’t see why it should be held every two years. I feel it should be run parallel to the European Nations Cup.

We now have Kiwis, Aussies and Koreans playing in the PL, and the Asian version of the Nations Cup is alkso held in January

I cant see why the Continental cups are not synchronised. And before anybody mentions the weather in Asia and Africa during our summer, it did not seem to be a problem when SA, S.Korea and Japan were hosting the World Cup

                    • It’s on again next season Dub? , although why it can’t be held during the summer months is beyond me-it’s a continent isn’t it? and it’s not exactly a full house and a must see comp?

                    • @Dublin

My guess is that the African and Asia/Austrilasian teams don’t tend to qualify and participate as frequently in the WC as Euro and S.American teams so they mainly do their own thing, competing in tournaments that favour them.

        • He never said that he wasn’t going out of duty to the club, but concerns over security and wages etc. Meaning that when that changed, he went. Club didn’t come into it really. Moreover, I agree with your comment in general. After a busy tournament I would expect him to be afforded a few days feet up, whether here or there. Sure that’s normal. No idea why this non story has been resurrected again.

          • SpurredoninDublin

I understand the original refusal to go, was because of a dispute over alleged non-payment of bonuses.

            • His reasons are incidental, as he’d publicly stated that he wasn’t going long before. It could be argued that part of his re-signing deal was the fact that’ he’d retired? (guessing). But to do a U turn a week and a bit before the ACN and at time when we needed him most is IMO unforgivable-but understandable if you’re looking to become in Togo when you retire, not forgetting that the President ‘requested’ his presence, which could have connotations for his family as refusal often offends. But I’d never have signed him in the first place, so it’s the sort of what I expected anyway.

      • Spudulike,

If this blog is too complex for you, that’s something I cannot help with. There is no hate, there is simply anger that this guy is fannying about THFC time.

Toure is back at City and ready top rock http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2274856/Yaya-Toure-confident-Manchester-City-catch-United.html#axzz2KDNw9awO where the hell is our lily of the field?

If you think that questioning where an employee is makes me unreasonable… wow.

        • He isn’t your employee and you don’t know when he’s supposed to be back. If the club think he’s taking the piss then I’m sure they will tell them. Why you feel the need to step in and reprimand a player when you don’t really know what he’s doing nor what he’s officially supposed to be doing is, you know, bit weird?

          • AVB has stated that he has spoken to Ade, he knows where Ade is and the lad has been given 2 days off. He is expected back for training today at 3pm, if Ade fails to make this AVB has said he will allow him a further day, until 3pm tomorrow to attend for training.
This is straight from the horses mouth, no ambiguity the rest is just Hot Air !

          • you know what its like if a story is not there go and find one, fill in the lines between the words said by those in the know omit whole paragraphs that dont fit your angle and boom there is a story and whole debate.

You could just as easily accuse AVB of talking shite from the information presented. He isnt of course he either doesnt feel there is a problem or he is managing it

            • SpurredoninDublin

Yes: I think most of us have over-reacted. I don’t see AVB, or DL for that matter as being the the sort of people to let a player take liberties.

I am glad that this seems to have been a nothing story. I think that Ade might be having probs adjusting to life under AVB, and I am hoping that we are soon going to see last years Ade. Can anyone forget his performance against the Newcs last year?

              Roll on Saturday.

  5. Lets hope Kaboul comes back as the same player. He had a serious injury and might never be the same.

  6. Why the flying fuk aren’t we paying for a private jet to fly him back, every other top club would do it

We save 20mill not getting Damiao or whatever other forward we were linked with, we now have 1 forward to call on – how much would it cost to fly him back 20k? FFS

  7. Quick, rush Kabbboooom back and play the fecker up top. he couldn’t do worse.

  8. In fact surely Joe Lewis must have a Fukin jet FFS, made me quite angry, he’s probably at Spurs lodge now via jet and my anger now misplaced

  9. Why the f**k should we pay to fly him back privately????
He was due on a specific flight (apparantly) so its his fault he missed it.
Why should we be pampering these clowns more than they do already???
If he wanted to get back here, believe me there are a million ways he could have got back.

    • U dick, really why?!

      • As AVB has already said he expected him back Friday, what are you getting so angry about anyway?

      • Nice. Namecalling. Are we in the playground???
Have you ever travelled outside of this country jima?
its a fairly easy concept. You go on the internet, book a flight and get on it.
Hes in S Africa. Not the middle of friggin nowhere.
You can even fly via somewhere else if there isnt a driect flight!
        WOW! What a concept.
The bloke is a grown man and there are many ways to get from SA to England without booking him a private jet because he cant be arsed to come back on time!
You dont need to get someone a private jet to get them back here for Saturday!

        • God, if getting out of SA is so bad I hope they hold a World Cup there. i can’t recall Pienaar ever having a problem getting there and back though?

        • BA & SAA have direct flights every day, with nice big first class seats to stretch out in while you take in a movie

          • spud, it isnt tricky is it…… I do worry sometimes…..

            • It was hardly a big offence, you’ll get over it Deano, my point is that if it costs us 20k to get him back training a day or 2 earlier then why wouldn’t we
Obviously he can jump on a plane but by the sounds of avb ‘we’re trying to establish the best connections’ it’s not so easy as a direct flight etc, so in conclusion take BA out of the equation spend the 20k or send one of JLs planes out there and make it more likely that we get 3 points on Sat, more likely we get 4th place this season and get the 20mill for competing in the CL – sorry for spelling it out, I thought by calling you a dick you might have a think about the obvious answer to your own question about why we may pamper our only clown forward and best option…..

              • I presume JL’s plane is in the bahamas somewhere so that might not be the most straight forward way of dealing with a problem that we dont know exists. I just saw ade cycling away from stanstead airport with his boot bag in the basket

              • Jima if you think calling me any name other than my own helps put across your own point then you arent very good at debating are you???

I think my point is pretty obvious and has been agreed to by some on here and most likely disagreed with by others in their own minds.

                Bored now.

      • Jima, play the ball not the man or your time here will be brief.

      • SpurredoninDublin

With respect to Jima, he’s not actually behind schedule yet.

The idea of sending a private jet at this time, is like calling the fire brigade before there us a fire.

I am hoping that Ade, being well travelled, will be keeping the team appraised of any difficulties he is anticipating, but at this moment in time, it would appear that one or two of us are relying on the “Private Jet” story being real, though this now seems unlikely.

    • Make him walk, preferably via Mali.

    • You can reach me by railway You can reach me by trailway You can reach me on an airplane You can reach me with your mind
You can reach me by a caravan Cross the desert like an Arab man I don’t care how you get here Get here if you can
You can reach me by sailboat Climb a tree and swing rope to rope Take a sled and slide down the slope Into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedy colt Cross the border in a blaze of hope I don’t care how you get here Get here if you can
There are hills and mountains between us Always something to get over If I had my way, surely you would be closer I need you closer
There are hills and mountains between us Always something to get over If I had my way, surely you would be closer I need you closer
You can windsurf into my life Take me up on a carpet ride You can make it in a big balloon But you better make it soon
You can reach me by caravan Cross the desert like an Arab man I don’t care how you get here Get here if you can
I don’t care, I don’t care I need you right here, right now I need you right here, right now, right by my side Yeah yeah, yeah yeah
Yeah yeah, oh I don’t care how you get here Get here if you can

  10. In other news, this is nice for Lloris:

    http://www.insidefutbol.com/2013/02/07/hugo-lloris-voted-best-french-player-of-2012/78889/?

I thought he was superb against Wes Brown, I mean West Brom.

    • SpurredoninDublin

I thought he was great against WBA, and I think he might might well become one of our three best G/k’s alongside Clemence and Big Pat.

With a keeper like that, the “High line” does not seem quite so risky, and he played sweeper better than most sweepers do.

      • He even allows Walker and Benny to get forward, though FFS don’t show them that on the Tactics Board.
Very impressive, love to see a Keeper get off his line quick to snuff out danger.
Watched Cesar last night, he looked dodgy, spilled 3 balls……Lloris looks rock solid, Best in League.

  11. Pleased “Andy`s” Not our Manager,The Beast(Youness)is NOt A Fairy(Ade),At Least a Fairy Might Fly Back Quicker,Even Run Back Quicker(Ade),I Don`t Think Either Him Or Jermaine Will Be missed,Not A Fan Of
    Either Player !!

  12. Things were much more civil when we talked about Bobby Smith playing a game on the beach in Southend-on-sea and discussing whether he would make the 5.45 back to Fenchurch street so he could play Crewe Alexandra in the cup.
My God we only had one striker at the time and no substitutes for Bobby Smith.
We didnt play the High Line at the time, the only lines being the one that went to Southend and the one that came back.

    • Not everything is so Black and White Ron?

      • Did you not see ‘Pleasantville’

        • no but do they do it in Rose tint or sepia?

          • I know for you that you would ban nostalgia. There would be no old films of Mackay and Blanchflower. You,Che,would start our very own Tottenham cultural revolution. Throw away anything before 1976.
            Even ban Fenchurch street station.

As to any inference on me being racist, you can forget that one.I take each person as an individual, and rate them only on the way they are. From what Ive seen of Ade’s antics he is not serious about us.He does what he wants or not, whatever he feels like. He is talented but does not deserve a place in the side if he mucks about. For me I would take any player and put him at striker rather than Ade until he proves he is committed to Tottenham.I havent seen it yet this season.

            • I’d like to throwaway anything from 74-1980 Ronnie, believe me you were better off in Canada dreaming the dream instead of watching the reality

              • Winning the Double was the worst.Yes it was glorious but nothing was beyond what they did and it all looked. I remember when we got beaten by Hadjuk Split at home in 1964 I think in the Europa of its time I think. We had fallen.
Had some great moments since then but the Double team set the benchmark for me forever.
We are about as close as we have been, just need a couple of more players.
Not everyone on that team was a superstar but today because of all the competition around us we need more than what we have now.
Still its the best than its been for a long time.
Our core of good players is getting better,we just need that extra oomph up front and Kaboul well would help

                • Ron the best thing about Spurs during that period was the peanuts and I don’t like peanuts!

                  • I remember the place where they sold them in the East Stand and the carzzi looked like scenes from
Guantanamo Bay especially the carzzi.Have they upgraded it yet?

                    • Oh, yeah, there a bloke who looked like Quasi used to flog them and chestnuts in the winter-Do remember the kids who threw chocolate bars after you threw them the money? Nearly took my flippin’ eye out once!

                • No, it was 67-8 ECWC and we beat them or Lyons, I think 4-3 before going out on away goals-only a kid, but I know about Lyons as I saw the away leg while visiting my mums rellies

                  • I think I remember that bloke.Did he say “Peanuts,Roasted Peanuts” slowly with a deep voice? He was a fixture there and certainly part of the Sixties characters as were the all star spivs One Arm Lou,Johnny the Stick and all the other characters hanging about near the entrance looking to cop some tickets to flog

                    • Yes we lost to Plit on away goals.Lyon we beat though…I think the round before…
That night against Hadjuk.,.was that miserable…..it was the final straw for the 60′s group

                    • That’s the fella, he also use to flog ‘em outside the Coliseum and ABC Stoke Newington-miserable old sod-

                    • But committed and really part of that special time.
In my whole life I dont remember one other peanut seller,do you?
                      The man was a legend!!!

                    • SpurredoninDublin

                      @Ron

We played and beat Split 10 the CWC 67/8. We lost to Lyons in the same comp 1-0 in France (Mullery sent off for having a go at their “enforcer”, an ugly brute by the name of Guy. We won the return 4-3 but lost on away goals.

And it was “Percy Dalton’s” the brand of nuts.

                    • You’re right, the old sod worn the dirtiest raincoat, with a bitof string around the waist and a huge sack of them in little bags, bloody stinky things-rank!

                    • I must have got those two games mixed up
Didnt want to remember those games

                    • The Peanut Seller somebody should make a film about him
                      starring Rod Steiger

                    • More Charles Lawton I’d have thought Ron?

                    • Charles Laughton,my God,the man speaks like Messi shoots

  13. Excellent news about Kaboom, it’s great just to have him back in training.

    Better late than never!

Speaking of which, where’s out Ade then? I don’t really understand the hoohaa doing the rounds but I’m almost positive that if we really wanted him back yesterday then they would of made it work. Besides, wasn’t he suppose to go home to Togo first for the obligatory post ‘knock out’ interviews and such?

  14. Just thought of the perfect song to sing when Ade scores on Saturday Lunchtime,

Nice one Ade, Nice one son,
Nice one Ade, let’s have another one.

AVB is not in a panic about him being back on time, why should we ?

    • AVB is so laid back at times he’s horizontal. It’s his job to be calm and that rubs off on us and the squad.

That being said I’d rather he was back already, he’s got a new play-maker to link up with!

  15. getting a 1st class flight from s africa to london wow that is really hard to do, could take weeks

  16. …the real question is: why is HH running a one-man hate campaign against our only striker not on crutches yet? Is he a closet gooner?

    • Are you in conventional employment? By this I mean, do you have a contract with anyone?

      • …well I wouldn’t call it conventional at all, but I do have a contract – why? Oh I get it. Well footballers contracts seem pretty loose affairs to me anyway (eg Modric? Berbatov?), and if Ade doesn’t play on Saturday I’ll join the general condemnation. But meantime as an earlier post here said, if AVB is unconcerned then why is everyone getting in such a lather about it? The proof of the pudding will be at WHL on Saturday….

    • @Spudulike I’m a little confused here?-I can’t recall Harry ever being Anti Ade quite the contrary, (apart from a little peetaking here and there)-now if you’re talking about not wanting him on a perm deal-there are plenty of us to vent your spleen at, but to direct it at Harry, I’m afraid is quite wrong on this occasion

    • I’m going to have to pull you up on that one Spudulike. To ask if HH is a closet Gooner is out of order. A closet homosexual then yes fair enough but definitely not a closet Gooner.

  17. Does he hate him or just think hes taking the piss out of us?????
I dont agree with everything Harry says but he positively welcomed Adebayors signing.
Along with many of us it seems hes just pissed off with his seemingly “cant be bothered” attitude this season.

    • Spot on.

    • I is based n not al the facts though (Which I also do not have before you say)

My understanding before Goal 101 visited a hotel joberg was that ade was not expected to get back to training until friday and not play the newcastle game.

its thursday and he is not playing on saturday apparently so I wont get indignant about the fact that nothings changed unless I hear the club say otherwise or see Ade riding a wilderbeast around africa on friday night swigging castle lager from a disney beaker and wearing y fronts on his head. in which case he can fek off

      • SpurredoninDublin

        @deano

Last year he was on fire. This year, he signed for us a bit late, and when he finally arrives back, he finds himself in second place to JD. When AVB finally starts him with JD, he makes an instant impact. Next game is Arse, he scores and gets a red, then misses the next three matches. Befoe you know it, he is off tp Africa.

Reason I give you the history is that if you factor in AVB being a new manager, who certainly does things differently from HR, I find myself making allowances for some lack of continuity. I think we are going to need about 4 or 5 games to see him at his best, but I have not given up on him yet.

For those who think we should never have signed him, I would say, for what he did for us last season, £5mill is not much of a gamble. He still has time to come good this season, and if he does, I think the doomseekers amongst us will go quiet again.

        • Spurred. When have I once said we should never have signed him?
Im not an Adebayor hater in the slightest and havent once given him grief.
He was on fired and 5m as you say isnt a gamble.
However, if you have seen him play this season, (which Im sure you have) please dont tell me you think hes given everything as he seemed to last year?

Injuries, continuity are one thing. Effort is another.

  18. Well Lets Hope If ? Ade`s Back & Fired Up ? He Sets WHL,Alight ? But I Doubt
It ? Probably Have The “Hump” Cos He Came Back On A Camel ?

  19. Special appearance by Big Ron on the welcome home comittee for Ade.

  20. The real villain is Levy for not buying a stop gap striker last week which would have meant we could have told Adebayor to come back by boat, via Somalia. Instead it seems that we are all expected to kow tow to a bloke who it appears couldn’t give a toss for his club.

    • What is a stop-gap striker? Someone rubbish who the crowd just moans at, constantly, or someone good who costs an arm and a leg (and isn’t very stop-gap, at all??)

      I’m confused…

    • Really no point buying for the sake of it.

Id rather stick a Walker or Kaboul or even Huddlestone up top instead of us paying 15 mil for an average player.

      • It’s what we are Ron and we employ a manager to manage these situations,I know it’s not what we want and it’s far from ideal, but it’s a fact of life… look at Chelsea, they’re having to fit a face mask on Ba because their 50m striker is so hit and miss!

        • I think if we show some nerve in dealing with these issues, the complexion of the team will change.Respect gets respect.
Ade hasnt shown too much in my opinion

          • Without dragging up pld news..the opportunity Levy had over Berbatov could’ve set a precedent if he’d taken legal action against the player and his rep’s, unfortunately we’re not Man City, who had the financial clout and players in situ to tell Tevez to do one and rot

            • Its a difficult one for me.I think that Berbatov WAS our team while Ade would be a part of our team.Berbatov wanted to go up a notch and I didnt blame him (this is business)
but Ade is just playing games

      • @Ron-I put the case for Fletcher two season’s ago..perhaps even before that when he was at Burnley-the guy’s got the lot, but because he wasn’t French or playing for some poncy outfit-I got some stick, still rate him highly, but c’est la vie

    • ‘the real Villian is Levy’

      Oh no he isnt

      Oh yes he is

      look out behind you

  21. My, this is a no news day.

Typical aftermath of international fixture week.

This Saturday is crucial to our season.

I’m not going to worry if Ade isn’t back.
He hasn’t impressed me this season and I’m sure we’ll cope.

    How?

    Don’t really know.
    Bale. Dempsey and Holtby.
    Dembele, Lennon and Siggi.
    Siggi, Kane and Obika.

If we haven’t got enough firepower there then it’s all lost.

    Barcodes.

    BIOYGCs

    • Play Siggi twice.

      That’s the answer!

    • Im hoping Sigg can get inspired by Holtby (even though Holtby is slightly younger)
Sigg definately has talent but lacks presence and confidence.Hopefully AVB can sort that out.

      • I can see his skill level, I just can’t see how he fit’s in to the current set up He always seems to look like a spare part or just in the way, if you understand? but too early to be written off by a long chalk

        • Ive seen glimpses of his talent. Not often but he has it.Not I think at any special level but I think he can produce with us. He needs a bit more confidence and can fill in. But he needs help now. I see the way Holtby is committed from the off and a player like Sigg can get something from that. Cant see them playing together as they have similar styles if not quality. But we need a player like Sigg as there are many games and players also need a rest.

          • By the Dempsey is also under performing. This are both not top level players but they both can contribute.I think ist because they both are trying too hard and straining. I think when a player uses his instincts it is often than when he tries to think his way through. But AVB is also teaching systems,so it adds more pressure although better in the long run

          • That’s the beauty of the game, you just never know when adversity strikes, it can sometimes confound the gloom and doomer’s by a single act of genius.

            • I think that is why Gazza was so admired

Hoddle and Waddle were great players but I think that dynamic moment Gazza owned

              • Waddle or Hoddle for me I’m afraid, but Bestie for pure poetry in motion

                • we are talking Tottenham and as far as poetry….Ginola

                  • Nah, he was just a good player in a crap side, I’d say on form Anderton was a far more influential player of that time, but what a pony team that was-and people moan about us now-un-flippin’- believable!

                    • You said ‘poetic’.I tought Ginola was the most poetic but not as influential.I mean it was difficult to be at that time.Inspiration cannot be imparted to the dead of heart

  22. We were always going to have to rely on Balenaldo and Da Dump for the Toons anyway. In spite of my overarching concerns about the striker issue, I do believe that should be enough for a resurgent but still bottom feeding club at home. I do hope Adebayors flight arrives in time for the Goon game though. He should be up for that one, and he owes us after his daft antics at the haemorrhoids stadium. As far as Lyon goes, they should send the whole first 11 off on a safari trip via private jets for that one anyway.

  23. Carragher’s retiring at the end of the season, yet another of our top goalscorers bites the dust!

  24. FFP Passed in principle by our own clubs-now it get interesting Guys

  25. HH I’m surprised at you and all the other idiots on here making assumptions without knowing the facts. AVB has now said that ALL the players have been given time off and will return on Friday. THEREFORE, Ade has done nothing wrong, he is NOT taking the piss, AVB knows where he is and has spoken to him. He will be back for the game on Saturday along with the other players.

    • Hope he bring his mind and feet with him and actually uses them. His history doesnt give me confidence but he is a quality player who we need but we shouldnt stand for any more crap.

    • This situation and the drama surrounding it serves only to stir up the impression that he’s given us over the course of the season.

A lot of us would just like to know that he actually wants to play and do well for us.

      • Drama created by the media. Don’t believe everything you read in the rags. “Don’t let the facts get in the way of a good story” comes to mind.

Ron – “more crap”?? There is no crap, he’s done nothing wrong, what’s with the “more crap”??

        • I’m not denying that this is another fine piece of sh*t stirring by the media.

Over the course of the season so far he has failed to convince me that he genuinely wants to be part of the team. that’s just the impression I and a lot of other ppl have gotten.

          • By this you must mean – hasn’t been as good this season as last. This happens to players, especially him it seems. I actually think he’s a confidence player – he has a delicate ego and he needs to be scoring etc to sustain it. The mess over his transfer and wages meant he had no pre season and then he was in and out with injuries. He should be up to fitness now and we are going to need him badly ao hopefully he can respond to being the only striker fit and deliver the goods.

            • No I don’t mean that at all.

I’m looking at the same club you are mate, I remember the summer, his injuries and performances.

He’s in a team sat in 4th, competing for CL with a big gap up-front waiting to be filled by a confident striker. I would of thought he would of been a tad more vocal and be itching to link up with the club and staking his claim.

I just think he’s been a bit too quiet about the whole thing and a lot of Spurs fans could do with hearing from him.

“I’m on my way back, and we’re gonna tear up the league!”

              That sort of thing.

              • Yes, well I’m suggesting that maybe all this ‘he’s a mercenary’, ‘he doesn’t give a shit’ stuff etc might wait until he does something to directly disrespect the club. ATM if seems more like people trying to read into what could simply be patchy form as being laziness or a bad attitude etc. Don’t know why people would want hlto think the worst before he’s had a proper opportunity to show us his best. For my part, I’m reserving judgment on him. Like I say, he should be fit now, his place in the team could hardly be more guaranteed – perfect opportunity for him to come back and play his best for is for the rest of the season. Anyway, that’s what I’m hoping for and I don’t think its too wise for us all to preemptively get on his back on the off chance that he’s going to stitch us up in some way. Its in our very best interests to support him and sing this is the best club you ever played for etc.

        • It is more crap. Its attitude and its focus all season. We dont have that luxury…yet.
Now everyone has to work. Ade is surely a talent and its that, that is the worst. He doesnt use it enough.
Statistics I cant give you,its impression as Brizzle states.I dont take my cues from what people have said at different clubs either,I see a player who plays games instead of the game first

    • Hold up Hot_Spur, I reported what was doing the rounds in relation to this from Overseas press. I didn’t make it up. Facts are that Toure is back and wanting to play. As per bloody usual we have AVB ‘hoping’ to arrange a flight for Ade.

FYI another fact is that Togo were out of the tournament on Sunday.
      Today is Thursday.

Call me old fashioned but I like my employees at their place of employment. So forgive my short shrift with the fact that he is not at that place.

If I made any assumptions there I am sure you’ll point them out!

      • HH- Glad you are not my boss, If you gave me time off until a certain day then got the hump because I was off the day before I was due in work I would question your mental health.

There never was a story in the players last being seen in a car park at a hotel on Monday. Ade’s whereabouts have not been reported since then.

he press conference you then referred to had further quotes reported from AVB which included

“I spoke to him monday morning, I know where, Im not sure if I want to make it public. I dont think its strange, Weve allowed the players two days off’

as we only have 1 Togo player I take that to mean THFC players so they are all off until Friday. AVB also said

“Obviously we have to take a look at him first, we dont have any news regarding injuries from him so he is going to be selected for sure. I have to make a decision whether he will be in the starting 11 or not”

The original story had the assumptions which you re iterated this whole post took a life of its own from there.

Of course alternatively AVB may be a barefaced liar or as full as shite as the previous geezer and Ade may be exactly what people have said but at this stage its all assumtion

  26. I said to Spurredon further up the page, I have no problem with Adebayor and he is clearly a very good player but only when it seems to suit. Injuries, Conditioning, a new manager, new tactics etc. are one thing to take into account when judging how well a player is doing but as a supporter the minimum I expect is 100% effort.
I dont feel we have been getting that from Ade this season.

    • It’s not unusual for some players to begin life at a new club with a bang and then fade into oblivion until their next move away-it’s not just a money thing, it’s just a football thing I’ve noticed over the years. It’s why I’m reluctant to get all bleary eyed and loved up about Lloris and Holtby. I’ll judge a player over a period of time and a legend after a career with us, not 70 mins or a season and a bit

      • Of course some players start with a bang and fade. We’ve seen many like this (Cisse at Toon being a great example) but all you ask is that they appear to be giving 100% every game.
I’ll shush on the matter until Saturday to give Ade a chance to prove me wrong.

        • Spot on Deano, but it’s also open to interpretation as well. Some would say Bertatov or Kanute were lazy, lethargic so and so’s, as was Hoddle to some of my contemporaries. i’m sure you’ve seen enough football to know that not everything is so clear cut on the field of play. But as I said before, he’s a player I wouldn’t have touched with a bargepole on a long term deal.

          • You make good points about other players who looked ‘lazy’. Pav was lazy as fuck and pretty shit apart from some of his finishing but he gets some kind of cult hero status. Adebayor outperformed Pav in one season by about 10 times when Pav hung about collecting his cash for 4 seasons deciding to put in the odd good game. Perceptions of players is a weird thing…

I think this contract thing is overstated, he had no pre season, had two injury setbacks and has had to partner Defoe (who really has ever partnered Defoe that well?). Last season he was supported by VDV and Modric as the key forward. I would like him to get a run without Defoe, i bet he’ll start getting more goals.

  27. I hate aeroplanes. The annoying nerd aviators on the field buzz my wife, my two dogs and me with their stupid flying objects. Essex, is there any way I can train my dogs to piss on their fuselages? Devil

  28. Berbatov is for me one if the best I’ve seen.
For me the only player I’ve watched who doesn’t put in 100% and yet still looks like the best player on the pitch!!!
Hoddle (as I am indeed one of your contempories) was light years ahead if his time
Every player interviewed who was with him even as a manager said he could do things with a ball no one else could.
Harsh on them to give Adebayor as a comparison ;0)
Take your point though. open to interpretation.

    • I only referred to his ‘body language’ Deano, certainly not comparing his ability to those players, Good God perish the thought

  29. Ha ha ha ha. I know.
Lets hope he walks out on Saturday at WHL, turns it on and leaves us all gobsmacked.
That’s basically what we all want.

  30. And so be it!!

  31. just another day for mario!

  32. So where’s Negrado, did he not arrive?

  33. I said it when adybore signed it was fcuked, what a w@nker,watched two of the games, what a waster didn’t even try,so someone tell me why he needs a rest.oh he must have done a bit of running in the other two games.could have been the heat?myself would rather wait till defoe comes back.he has to be the main man,but defoe is,and he didn’t like that one bit,so take a vacation for good, twap. The-Incredible-Hulk

  34. I don’t like him being in the ACN after saying he wasn’t going, but I can’t condemn him for not being back yet when it sounds like AVB agreed to a Friday return. The quote I saw said:

“He’s in Africa. He has days off. I don’t mess up with my players’ day off. “When I spoke to him on Monday, I told him, ‘Friday at three o’clock.’ So hopefully there is the possibility he will be here.”

So he’s good with me until then, and a douchebag if he doesn’t show.

  35. I see it like this. Africa is hugely different in culture to Europe and most of the rest of the World, also Togo are footballing minnows even in Africa and Adebayor is their talisman and a huge star in that minor African country.

The team bus being attacked (proper attacked, with guns, people got shot and died) was a major national disaster for Togo hence all the messing about by Ade before the tournament. He was concerned primarily about the safety of the team and staff and also their terms and wages related to the crooks running the country and the their F.A who stick half the money the team generate in their back pocket while their team have insufficient security and almost get massacred that day as a result.

This is heavy third world shit, not our world of ‘Made In Chelski’ that some players here are gagging to be part of. It’s about daily survival, life and death, grinding poverty and vile corruption at all levels of society.

I’m not trying to claim that Adebayor is any kind of saint by any stretch and he has his baggage but the way the press, Gooners and a lot of our own supporters sound the alarm bells at any misdemeanour no matter how minor doesn’t seem quite right to me. He has said he feels exhausted and that could be because of the whole experience of leading his national team in the circumstances i’ve mentioned, as much as anything else.

He was very good for us last season and i personally think we have been less of a side since he’s been away, no matter if he’s been scoring or not. He’s a major presence up front, ok he’ll have the odd quiet game but who in this team hasn’t? He had no pre-season because his move couldn’t be agreed early and he’s had injury setbacks until fairly recently.

If he’s not back for the game, that’s bad and he should be fined but AVB and the club seem ok about it at this point. Everyone else seems to be getting swept along with the ‘badly behaved Ade’ thing a little bit… Look at all the circumstances and facts around his role in the Togo side and then you’ll see why it’s more than just footy over there. Lets open our minds a bit to a world that we don’t live in or experience, fortunately for us.

No excuses for being late back but he isn’t yet anyway is he? Talk about mountains out of molehills!

    • PeterTheStoreyTeller

At 200000 smackers a week Ade is not part of the Togo scene you portray,Ade has a job to do for us and that is all the Spurs Supporters want,we did not contract Ade as a roving AMBASSADOR for Togo, rather than a top top player we seem to have a care less pain in the ass.

      • What do you mean the ‘Togo scene you portray’? I haven’t portrayed anything, that’s the way it is. Can you imagine if the English F.A were pocketing players wages and allowing the team to get shot and killed? It’s complicated and perhaps it takes a day or two longer to get away from. That’s why he wasn’t sure about going, which he was also slagged off for.

That’s no excuse to turn up late but he isn’t even late according to AVB.

It doesn’t matter what he earns either, if the club are ok with it then fine. They pay his wages not you or i so they make the decisions and not us. That’s why i don’t understand why it’s worth getting that worked up about.

Just my humble and rather more considered conclusion than some tend to jump to about it.

        • Of course it matters what Ade is paid, when you buy a shirt, entrance fee etc it goes to the running of the club, this includes wages.Ade is paid by his club when on international duty he does not miss out.I agree with Peter we only need Ade to play well for the club and he is not doing that this season.

      • 200,000k per week? Are you telling stories Peter?

  36. Dick Turpin wore a mask, the Lone Ranger wore a mask, now it’s Demba Ba the masked marauder.

  37. Great news on Kab, it will free up Jan V to play midfield if needed if Parker gets injured now we’re missing Sandro, Kab could even play in there if need be.

  38. Ade returned yesterday by all accounts.

  39. I’d let the ACN dust settle, bench Ade and give him a final chance to get his mind back into Spurs, and start like this tomorrow.. with Siggy coming in sooner than the usual 5/10 minutes he’s allowed… still believe Sigg can give so much more if given a decent run out..

    Hugo
    Naughton Daws Vert BAE
    Dembele Parker
    Lennon Holtby Bale
    Dempsey

    • I’d revert to using Naughton at LB and still keep Holtby on the bench for now. Perhaps using a CB pairing of Gallas and Dawson, pushing Verts into d/midfield and using Dembele in a more advanced AM position

      Lloris
      Walker Gallas Dawson Naughton
      Parker Verts Dembele
      Lennon Dempsey Bale

  40. Ade’s fit, he starts, no question. With Holtby in the hole, the way it should be.

  41. Looking forward to seeing Ade without Defoe and Holtby in behind, well said. I honestly think Defoe’s natural position for us these days is off the bench. Ade is a step up in my opinion as a player, forget all the other shite. He’s quality.
