Home » Two Bids Confirmed

Today’s blog is brought you by the letter P.

Towards the close of last season opinion on Mauricio Pochettino was split. We watched far too many games that were largely unwatchable. A new manager is supposed to reinvigorate and Poch failed to do that. So many wanted him binned after a relatively short period of time.

Others, took a more holistic approach and felt the if the manager was backed, that if the boss was given the tools to implement his ‘philosophy’, then and only then he could be judged.

The old adage, ‘ a bad workman blames his tools’, but a workman without any tools is a workman due a break.

History has taught us that managers assemble great sides.

Hell, Brian Howard Clough even fired tea ladies in order to make sure the club personnel were all on message.

This will be Poch’s 3rd transfer window.

It is difficult to the point of impossible to see event vaguest suggestion of Mo Po building anything.

The purchase of Toby Alderield is potentially inspired. Even when you factor in how ruddy long it took the club to recognise the issue and sanction the buy.

That’s my beef.

Under ENIC, I am genuinely struggling to foresee a scenario whereby any manager could be allowed to facilitate real change.

The flat-earthers, will leap in at this point to remind us of a whole heap of migraine inducing rubbish.

Flat-earther bingo cards at the ready.

Football at White Hart Lane has never been the priority. Sure, we’ve not been relegated or served a winding up order, but when we weren’t enjoying pure luck ( Arry didn’t get his way and manage to sell Bale/some of you still don’t understand how important Modric was) the reality is we’ve one one pot in 15 years of mismanagement.

Again, the flat-earthers will mumble something about the training ground and a stadium that is still 4 years away.

What they never ever address, is what is a diligent Premier League football chairman supposed to do as standard practise? How far do we take the adulation? Are fans expected to submit letters of earnest gratitude because the seat are facing the right way, or that someone remembers to open turnstiles?

Back to Poch – has Poch been backed?

Well if his plan is to have one striker (and pray that the poor guy can replicate a truly phenomenal breakthrough season) and hotch-potch a defensive midfielder out of Eric Dier, then his plan is too stupid to be indulged.

Is Poch’s position tenable?

Asking such a question just two games into a season might appear unreasonable. In fact – it should be seen as unreasonable!

However, we’ve seen close to zero evidence that Poch has been backed.

In our last game, the great white hope was removed from the field of play because he was cramping up.

Pochettino’s after match comments were heartbreaking.

He was tired. He came later in pre-season and it is normal.

He is better but he needs time to arrive.

We knew before the end of last season Harry Kane would play a lot and the consequences you can see now.

Every game is different, today my feeling was he was tired. This is the truth, at 2-0, after 65 minutes, I think it was enough for him. We don’t take risks with his body.”

I’m actually at a loss to even translate that into any language.

It’s total nonsense.

Kane was overplayed for Spurs in our post-season/ pre-season games and he also played games for England.

Whilst the spreadsheet fanboys have been yelping with delight at the selling on of the driftwood, they’ve been stoney silent when it comes to the lack of incoming activity.

Newsflash: this season began on the 8th of August.

To date, we’ve secured 1 point from a probable 6.

Is there hope of some action towards the death of this window?

Who knows, when you still have time wasters like Azza Blud and Adebayor on our books.

The Ham & High Broadway believe that QPR have had two firm bids for Charlie Austin.

It is of course, Sir Les that said the following from the club he helped relegate…

“If someone meets the valuation, it is down to Charlie to whether he wants to leave the club. When you look at what Christian Benteke went for, I don’t think we’re pricing him out the market.

I wouldn’t say they’ve been turned down – we spoke to the clubs but they have not met our valuation. It is not a foregone conclusion that he will go. The rumours won’t stop until the transfer window closes.”

Electrifying stuff.

Spurs are 5/1 to sign Austin.

Austin could probably, in fact, almost certainly help us out right now.

Did Poch really come to Spurs to build a philosophy around the talents of Clinton Cards and Charlie flipping Austin.

P is for Patsy.
