Good to hear the boss firing off some warning shots before the red tops invent another ‘Real Madrid Preparing Audacious Spurs Swoop.’ Afterall, it will probably only take what, two more ‘wonder goals’ before some have cut hack decides to make something up again.
“Players performing at this level always get the attention. It doesn’t mean that the club doesn’t foresee a future with Gareth. He’s a player we rate very, very highly.”
Both of them are extremely technical players, and extremely powerful and pacy,” Villas-Boas said. “Gareth was a left-back and moved to the wing, and is now going to a more advanced role. Ronaldo is also able to play that role up front. Ronaldo is now 28, has achieved so much in his career, and he is an example to Gareth. Yes, you can see similarities.
Just as it’s difficult for us to have a player of this dimension playing so well, it is difficult for other teams to buy a player of this dimension, with the economic situation as it is. We are very fortunate to have him. If we reach our objectives we can hopefully continue to have Gareth at our club.”
On our friend Emmanuel Adebayor, I found the use of this quote, from the same article, in defense of the pilchard to be… well, ambitious:
I’m extremely calm over the situation. When I spoke to him on Monday, I told him [to return by] Friday at three o’clock. There is one week between games, with trips from extreme heat to cold. He will not be 100 per cent for sure, but he is still a player that can make a difference for us.”
The player was binned from the African Cup Of Nations on Sunday. So God only knows what class of conversation was had with a guy who is under contract with us on the Monday whereby he gets 5 days to wander back. I don’t know when Yaya Toure physically stepped off a plane, but he was talking to a wide variety of British media yesterday about his ambitions for City this season.
We have Villas-Boas perhaps letting us know gently that Ade might not quite be 100% for Newcastle. So no, I’m as yet unconvinced that Adebayor’s brain is engaged fully upon being a Tottenham player. He should have been on a flight on Monday and doing his up most, perhaps taking advantage of our swanky training facilities, to be ready for our next game.
I don’t hear Mancini telling the press he spoke to his boy 5 days ago and he has his fingers crossed. Boy, I’m a demanding, nasty piece of work, aren’t I?

I’m fully with you on this one…..
Adebayor is a nasty piece of work, not you HH……
We woz duped
Yeah, because he was never a self-serving Mimi at L’arse or Saudi Mancunia?
Yeah but you weren’t duped because everyone knows what he’s like. They all told us, we refused to listen. He is our only striker
I’m a demanding, nasty piece of work, aren’t I?
You said it mate, seems you are getting off in the same way as the effink desperate press do,
cooking up a shit casserole again.
Ade is primarily a gifted individual not unlike yourself, old girl, I think you should put on your waterproofs and concentrate on going on holiday for a while.
‘You BBC are filming things that aren’t happening!’
- Elderly Northern Irish lady shouting at a That’s Life! camera crew in the late 1970′s.
Yeah I understand
I wonder what would happen if I called my boss up from abroad to tell him I’m not coming to back to work the day he expected me to, I will turn up at 3pm the day before I have a dealine to meet…
Heh????
AVB spoke to him monday and he has to be back by 3pm on Friday
where exactly do your comments fit with that??
Are you suggesting if you go on hiolidya with your boss’s permission you come back a day early to make sure you dont miss the deadline
Opps, I ment coming back a week later then planned only leaving a few hours of prep time for a dealine.
I guess the point I’m trying to make is you wouldn’t get away with Ade’s behaviour with a normal job.
Then again, Football isn’t a normal job
Ha thats right mate I wish football was my job Instead I work my backside off and have spent the last 32 years paying (well me mum and dad paid while I was at school) to pay the game I love. The game we watch nowdays is a bit different with the money involved.
I have gone from night shifts or all night benders straight to sunday morning games and the higher Level saturday games have sometimes been a rush from a mornings work.
I left jobs when they got in the way of football or let the boss make the decision when I no showed for a semi final match.
Should AVB stop using long words (over two syllables) when talking about the team and players? I have no problems with it personally but it seems to infuriate certain elements within the media, Adrian Durham was apoplectic the other day because AVB used the word dimension for instance, he just couldn’t get his thick head around it!! Also should AVB stop making notes pitch side, because I have noticed that this too appears to upset the hacks and some of our own?! It almost as if they think writing is the Devil’s work!
The more AVB upsets certain elements within the MSM/Street of Shame, the more i like him.
Me too….it’s cool!
Yeah!
Hell Yeah!!
Yurp.
Yurp, quite catchy isn’t it?
Hell yurp!
Slurp
A football blog’s go this is about as intelligent as it get’s- but, then you go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like..Adrian Durham.
Firstly, he’s a complete cnut, secondly, what’s he got to with football? and lastly, never ever lessen your own argument by ever quoting that cnut-you hear?
true true and once again true
It maybe an age thing, but I can’t understand a word he say’s-Which is kinda nice after the other bloke-who I understood perfectly, but wished I didn’t
I’m blissfully ignorant as to who this Durham chap is. He’s not married to Victoria Wood by any chance, is he?
Durham’s just blissfully ignorant Unc, best left well alone. His show is like an alarm clock- at 4 everyday I automatically turn him off. He demanded the FA take us out of the CL as we’d be an embarrassment, he rate’s Walcott and has a real homo erotic fixation with Beckham, but most of all, he knows bugger all about football, great stat’s bloke, but not a football man in the true sense. He reminds me of an accountant in charge of a family business, all figures but no heart-he actually slated Shearer for not going to Utd as he’d win medals, but had no conception of what it meant to Shearer playing for Newcastle, his club?
Sell Him
With an other Afro cup next year who’d buy him?
Therein lies your problem listening to Adrian Durham. The guy is a complete tool!
Every now and again I make that mistake and I always always regret it!
In Raiders of the Lost Ark that part where Indiana Jones was confronted by this super swordsman who did a show and Indiana pulled out his gun and he shot the bloke.
Simple.
Later my footballing career, not that I really had one,I played in defence and confronted by a winger with fancy feet that juggled the ball,I would never watch the feet, just the ball.
Its simple. Dont listen to what Ade and AVB say, watch what they do or even better what they dont do.
I know what Ive seen with Ade this season and we will see what he does or doesnt do in the games coming up and we will also see how AVB reacts.
Ade has a lot to prove.
AVB’s and indeed Daniels reaction will tell us who we are as a club.
Ronnie. The guy who got the Oscar for mechanical effects of Raiders 1 is a massive spurs fan. He used to live a few doors away from my parents in Enfield. I was very young at the time but he showed me the script to the film before starting on it at Elstree Studios. Happy Days! COYS!
Nihonyid, what happens in the end? No not Raiders we know with that is going on for generations….no to to us at Tottenham.I last saw the Lost Ark in 1960-61……is this the sequel?
Its great that you could have that experience. It was an amazing film for its time. It was taking the excitement of the saturday morning matinee films I watched as a kid and putting a lot of Speilberg quality into it. Now can you find that friend and have some of those snakes sent over to the Emirates? wait I think they have enough!
Its great that it happened,I bet you couldnt believe the film was quite as big a hit as it became
Not sure there is an end. Spurs fans are always awaiting the next Messiah. The Ark may be a “radio to God”, but AVB gives his commandments by paper….
Yid, we have a high line religion and AVB wants us to be observant and active. I hoping this is the road and that Ade will redeem himself..
and while Bale skates the boy wonder, Holtby, did I say Holtby, walks on water.
Adebayor is travelling from Togo to Billericay in a Mark V Cortina. Just saw it on Sky
Mark IV surely?
Just saw him driving past Waitrose in the High Street. You are defo ITK Sid.
With a peasant behind him clapping two coconut halfs together.
The traffic’s backing up around Billericay-there’s some guy riding an elephant on the 127 holding everything up-the state of it, mind? mud everywhere!
He ain’t no bleeding thickie, he’s Billericay Ade and he’s doing, very well.
It could catch on as a new terrace song.
Arriving ON and not IN a JUMBO?
Elephant dung expected to be seen arriving at main gate on the 9/2, at roughly 10:30am. Trigger has been called in with his legendary ‘same brush for 20 years’ to help clean up the mess. Let’s hope he delivers a swift wallop to Ade’s head & knocks some bloody sense into it eh !
My rhubarb’s gonna win this year-Happy days
Win what ? I mean i’m happy for you ‘n’ all, but what kinda prize is at stake these days for having a winning Rhubarb ?
Who knows, but they make exceeding long pies
That they do Sir.
Maybe there’s more to this Adebayor situation than we know, and AVB is just being tactful about the situation.
If he comes back and performs a blinder I will not be unhappy, so there is no point being unhappy about it before anyone has kicked a ball yet.
Wait and see. Don’t panic. It’s only a game…
Biill Shankly said something like ‘Some people think football is a game of life and death but I can assure them thats its much bigger than that’
The other one I like from him was ‘there are two teams in Liverpool.Liverpool and Liverpool reserves’
Shankly needs to get a life.
He also said, “If Everton were playing at the bottom of the garden, I’d draw my curtains.”
Ok shit here is one more
He also said “Wher’ve my hub-caps gone” quite often too.
I used to pay Essexiann to mind my car outside WHL, otherwise he would have had mine
Very wise Ron, he still has my Vespa.
The man has a garage bigger than the training facility we have, now he is paying Huddlestone to mind his cars and Vespas (our cars and Vespas)
Hey, I made good money out of Jewish guys going to synagogue by car, my next door neighbour who was a Rabbi paid us a tanner for every tyre we let down, and we’d charge the driver a tanner to pump them again-result!
Don’t knock them Rabbis. As good yids they alsoo prayed for Tottenham and it did wonders back the as the congregation went to synagogue in the morning and to the game in the afternoon. The cups runneth over back then send them a donation now and maybe they can work so good stuff for the rest of the season
Who’s knocking them, I made more out them then any paper round or car minding come to that
This thread of the blog has just brought back a long lost memory from the early 1960′s of a couple of houses located at the Park Lane end, on the way to Northumberland Park Station where the female owners used to take money for allowing people to leave their bikes and mopeds in her front garden. The garden was stacked out with them.
And for the perverts amonst you
(you know who you are) the front garden reference is NOT a euphemism.
David Wots a euphemism. Is a youf movement like the Park Lane End?
What supporters?? Sounds like everyone was making a living
Talking to yourself again Ron?
Yes he is the mad old bastard.
That’s not very nice. I think you should apologise.
F*ck Off!
Be like that then……………
And goodnite from him too
Loo Essex I want a refund I’m not even religious
Another Shanlyism: “•“A hundred thousand wouldn’t buy him,” Tommy Docherty said. “And I’m one of the of the hundred thousand,” replied Shankly”
Shank was a good manager but better with one liners……
@ron
Yes. Managers with wit are a rare breed. If you trawl really hard, you can find th odd memorable quote from others, but I cant think of anything the Billy Nick said that was not usually profound.I can think of plenty of things HR said that made me cringe.
That probably reflects the pressure of the job. I just came across this from El Tel.
http://www.england2010.co.uk/terry-venables-quotes.htm
Difficult to believe he had a brain.
as 14 yr old I used my paper round money to watch Spurs but they were away I think for the first game of season ,as I was living in basingstoke at the time I went to watch saints v liverpool, their first div1 game ever.they won 2-1 and the goalie campbell forsyth broke his leg. On the way back was on the same train as the scouse and shankly shook all the fans hands including mine.
I all ways had a soft spot for them after that until we drew 0-0 with them in the cup and I got the hiding of my life down scotland rd after the game. Got my own back after the replay although we lost 0-1.
He was a wanker then.
Don’t quote something like, either get it right or don’t bother, it just makes you look stupid.
Better to remain quiet and be thought of as a fool than to speak out and confirm it.
Can I quote you on that?
From his no-show preseason right through this lack of urgency to return to Spurs, have yet to see any decent commitment from Ade… AVB needs to nip this in the bud now… bench him tomorrow for starters… hope he gets the right focus ( have my doubts he ever will be fully committed )
Play Demps up front … give Bale the roaming licence now with Benny back bombing from the left, and let Holtby loose… and give Siggy more than a cameo runout…. Ade can watch it all from the bench… maybe will rekindle his appetite
How could he show up for preseason when he was under contract elsewhere?
he could have still kept in shape, wherever
Yeah, well, Peter Odemwingie did and look what happened to… ah, right you are, then…
Right, so he’s still due back today then. And the problem is what exactly.
As for Bale, AVB’s comments seemed.to rely a lot on the words ‘if’ and ‘hope’. If we qualify for CL we hope we can keep him.
This season he has often seemed head, shoulders, tummy, bottom and knees above the rest of the team and now he has been given the task of scoring all of our goals. I cant see him staying and can’t see why he should do either. Best we can hope for is that we sort out targets and replacements before anyone knows we are selling him so they don’t hike the prices and then Levy can dig his feet in and sell on the last day of Summer. Though judging by recent experience, the latter will happen but nit the former.
Whether or not we qualify, the fact remains is he’s our player on a fairly long contract and there really aren’t that many clubs who can afford to buy him.
LLL iBale doesnt need the system that AVB is creating (ok so so of it is maybe to get Bale space) all he needs is space. The others (apart from Dawson) are playing the short ball into the system so Bale is fee to explore with his great speed.
The others will kick in as the system gets more cohesive (I not going to mention Holtby here…oh what the hell ok Ill mention him…Holtby……there I did it)
Not interested in arguing the bale point LLL, ou could be right or wrong, time will show us all,.
However,.. Adebeyor,.. …
It doesnt matter which bit of paper had his name on it, or who was popping his fairly decent wages into his account,..
This does not stop the prick from going out for a jog does it????!!!!!!!!!! – There is no excuse for his current fitness. Which is the sole reason for his little niggles and ‘lack of form’. The prick isn’t fit. That is his fault cos he didnt work over the summer.
I know were just a bunch of turds talking shit on here, but the bloke doe NOT deserve his money!! – He needs a slap!!
Such a shame that hes lived up to this rediculous 2nd season theory, but he has, so,.. Fuck him. He needs to grow up , or just fuck off.
And the management are completely blameless when it comes to getting players fit between september and now then?
Next you will be saying they just jus turn up at the trainming ground tell the lads to run around a bit and the shove out the changing room on matchday have drawn the postions out from a Hat
I think preseason training is a bit more complicated than running around the park. He was cast away from City’s squad while we wrangled with them over his wages and the transfer fee. Don’t know what you’re getting quite so worked up about.
Gutted….The headline read Karen Brady axed…but it was only metaphorical
What’s that dirty pikey skank been up to now?
It was a headline about the junior apprentice being axed-and I’d got my hopes up before reading the whole article
Hokey Dokey.
Yes, but its always been a matter of time. I think that time may be up for us now. Regardless of CL, he will feel he has nothing more to learn or achieve from staying another year and I think he’s be right.
I’ve no doubts he’ll move on sooner or later, everyone really expects this if they’re honest, but for once the global financial situation could work in our favour..either way and injury permitting ,we’re in a good place with Bale I think?
To a certain extent, although I’m positive it is not only inevitable for his own sake but also for Levys own plans. The chance to make 40m profit one 1 player isn’t something he’s pass up, and if we”re realistic, that’s probably right too. The following Summer his value should stay the same, true. But he might get the hump if he’s forced by ‘circumstance’ to stick around another year.
Much like most things, we can only 2nd guess, but I’d wager that when he signed his recent deal, a caveat was in place in regards to CL qualification and or a huge buy out fee?
@Essex
I read somewhere that he intends to honour his contract which expires June 2015 currently.
If that ius correct we have another 2.5 seasons. There have have been a few predicting we are going to lose him for the past two seasons. The good news for them ,is that sooner or later, they are likely to be right.
He has never struck me as someone who is anxious over money, and I think that he will not be in a rush to leave us if we can get CL, in which case, he might even sign an extension.
Ade will move on to Russia in the summer window after leading us to CL qualification and we will see a healthy return on our outlay. That’s when we go in for Damiao for Real.
You think Raz, again 2nd guessing I reckon both Leandro and Inter have led us a merry dance, and when finally it came to putting pen to paper, the player backed out. I’m basing this soley on his recent quote about never wanting to leave Inter and that was on the back of his new deal last season, so it sort of adds up-in which case I’m thinking that’s as dead as dead could be?
CL will swing it .
Shalke also said we wouldn’t get Holtby before the Summer as they were in the Champions League. This then changed to only if we pay them €2m could we get him in January. I believe the final figure was £1.5m. Everything changes.
I really feel we are the ones who have led Internacional a merry dance with a derisory offer that was never in the same ball park.
I believe that we offered them a price and it wasn’t enough, nor enough in one payment. If anyone has been led a merry dance it is the fans who were fed stories of a nearly nearly deal for the 2nd consecutive window.
As said before LLL,I tend to look for quotes attributed to the player, and the only quote I’ve read is what I posted, anything else is your opinion, which you’re entitled to of course!
I can’t be asked to c&p, but you’ll find them easily enough
I’ve read that quote and all the others, from everyone. In the past Damiao has spoken about how he will obviously play in Europe. Take from them what you will, but take from all of them for a balanced opinion, not just the quotes which seem to suit your own guesswork… Same goes for me. Not much point chewing over it much more, he’s not here and neither if us ultimately knows why, although we both have our own theories.
Holtby was a different scenario as it was a case of Shalke getting something as opposed to nothing as he was our player anyway!
All I’ve heard was that it was a payment issue – too little and not enough upfront. Damiao said that he wanted to stay – after the window closed. In the past he had said that of course he will have to play in Europe somewhere in the future.
Other issue to consider is that his stock has been falling somewhat. He’s lost his place in the national team.
Damiao will move as he wants to achieve things in Europe. Why would he sign in Jan for a club not in the CL ? Summer is a different story.
As for what he said, give me strength….wouldn’t you expect Bale to say he wants to stay at Spurs, Holtby to say he loves it here, Ade to say………………….players say what they are expected to by the Club they’re with and the fans, don’t read too much into it.
Torres has a Tattoo on his inner arm that says “You’ll never walk alone.”
Re: what he said. Yes, that was the point I was trying to make.
Yes, and I’ve got a mate with a “Karen” Tattoo, and his wife (Janice) threatens to poison him if it ever sees the light of day again.
How about cutting and pasting what you’ve heard? I can’t see anything definitive other than Leandro’s personal statement!
It isn’t definitive. Stuff footballers say rarely is mate.
Just because you are not aware of certain statements does not mean they don’t exist, Essex you are not the font of all knowledge. Damiao did make statements ref Spurs, here’s a clue Sept 2012, i just don’t feel i have to cut & paste to satisfy your’s or in fact anyone’s inability to find it for himself. Try Googling !!!!!
Essex if you have issue with anything i have said please elaborate, if it’s a statement i have quoted please point it out and i will be sure to fill you in on the source.
So you’re saying after 2 seasons of openly chasing the bloke he suddenly say’s that out of the blue?
oh, well you takes your money etc, but equally you’re still implying that we had other options and should’ve bought ‘anyone’ then? And don’t give me all that ‘font of all knowledge’ maralarky especially after you’ve been on here saying we’re definitely buying players-who we’re not even in the market for!
Says what out of the blue ?
I’m not implying that we should have bought anyone, where do you get that from ?
Where did i say we are definitely buying players we are not even in the market for ?
You had us down for Llorente did you not?, I know I did at one stage based on his protracted dealing with Juve, but all of these posts are opinions and quite simply most of us read and try to fill in the gaps to make what sense we can out of them. So my take is this-I cannot believe we’d only have a single target if we weren’t led to believe there was a good chance of getting him?
Everyone knows we’ve got a problem up top, it’s not a revelation, but it is a problem and one that can severely damage us and our ambitions .Lastly why did AVB say the deals dead, they’ll be no summer move, if we were’nt dicked about-whereas before there was nothing so final?
Last year, Jan ’12 i wanted Llorente, would have loved it but i never said it was a done deal. Would have wanted Moutinho if it was on also, however i am a realist and believe we need to cut our cloth……………… I trust Levy and AVB to bring in the players without bankrupting our club.
And so it ends-the whole issue is who are these player’s Raz? I believe that AVB/Levy put their faith in Leandro and no-one else-all their eggs in one basket if you will-and have been shafted in the process-they’ll have to suffer the consequences-but we’ll not be any of the wiser till May
Essex have you completely lost it ? Read and try to understand my posts and try and stay on topic, you seem unable to answer fact with fact and convienently ignore posts when put on the spot.
Right I’m now getting a littl pissed to put it mildly-First up-you are changing the subject by bringing TWO different senario’s into play-this was about a striker Leandro-you erroniously chose to use Holtby as an example yet have wangled your opinions while failing to answer my counter arguments as to why they’re different things and bear no relation to the case in point!
You them come out with PR claptrap like ‘dream move’ and such other bollocks to try to wash over it-when anyone would know that all that is expected, as I said- it’s PR bullshit and lastly you then put a site up that’s a press agency that’s has no link and I’m supposed to be impressed? you’re joking Raz-kiss my badge!
I mentioned Holtby as an example of how statements change in football, for no other reason, in an effort to simplify things for you.
Get a grip and remember everyone has a right to their opinion, yours carries no more weight than mine, Rons, LLL’s, Spurstacus’s or anyone else’s.
Essex get your Keyboard ready and type in the following ;
Tottenham bid £13 million for Damiao.
It’s not Rocket Science.
@essex (5.50)
AVB has siad the deal is dead. AVB also said that he was not looking to sign anyone in the window.
Do I believe the deal is dead, or do I believe AVB would not want to publicise who the targets are in order to maintain a calm dressing room or keep the price down?
FWIW, I am more inclined to disbelieve AVB for the reasons above, than I am likely to believe people like Chamakh starting rumours that we were interested in him.
Raz is right: why on earth would he move to a non-CL club, Essex?
I think you’re taking two entirely different situations and are making them a single entity that’s all Raz.
Holtby was done and dusted and effectively our player, whereas the Leandro ‘deal’ had dragged on for ever. Leandro has since said he didn’t want to leave, and we’ve said ‘that’s it!’ not wait till the summer-but a clear ‘No, we’ll look elsewhere’ Now, this has been 2-3 seasons, but the lines have been clearly drawn. Nothing about derisory offers I’ve seen other than in the gutter press..!
It could also be argued that if Holtby was all that, why then allow him to go for 1.7m when Shalke are still in The CL? As I said it was getting something other than nothing in the end and @ 1.7m it looks a pretty decent deal.
Essex many things are said to cover a multitude of situations, players say whatever the Club and Fans want to hear, Damiao is no different. Last Summer we offered £12m for him, in Jan we offered £13m, in 6 years time we may just be in the same Ball Park.
Do you not remember the headline ; Leandro Damiao admits sadness at not making summer move to Spurs. But then that’s probably only rubbish paper talk with made up quotes.
So where should we get reliable info ? News Now, TBH , Sky, TalkSport.
That’s exactly my point Raz, you’re quoting figures from the gutter press. I cannot find anything over the past few windows where Inter have turned us down based on money-I can however find quotes where they say, they want to keep him, they’ve offered him a new deal and he doesn’t want to leave-but nothing about the price being ‘derisory’ It’s not insult for a club to say they want x but were only offered y is it? You read it all the time, so why not from Inter?
Press Association Sport
Tottenham Live
George Sessions
Thursday 31st January 2013 @ 22:01hrs.
Sorry what am I supposed to learn about a reporter from the press association Raz?
You are joking !
You started it!
@ Alspur, why would Holtby, especially as he was already playing in it?
Good question, but Holtby’s half-english and clearly likes the look of AVB, the current Spurs set-up and the EPL…
Damiao is a full Brazilian international, but still not a nailed-on starter, he’s focused on next year’s WC in Brazil, and his best chances of playing are either to stay in Brazil or play in the CL…
He probably would’ve come to us, by now, if we hadn’t managed to fudge up qualification twice in a row – if we can get in, this time, I think Bale will stay and Damiao will come…
Mind you, knowing our luck, we’ll finish 4th and the Arse will win the f*cking thing… (I’m just going to wash my mouth out…)
Shalke play Galatasary next, if they get through that they will face Barcelona in the QF’s, i think you’ll find Holtby is a realist and saw no point in delaying his dream move.
Sorry, I’m at a loss here! Surely his dream move’ would’ve been Everton, and isn’t playing in the CL more of an incentive to stay for the duration, especially when his dream move was already signed sealed and delivered?
I thought you only gave creedence to direct quotes from the player, Holtby has stated on many occasions that his move to Spurs is his dream move. Why delay the dream to maybe progress past Galatassary when he could be fulfilling his dreams at Tottenham. Do you dissmiss his statements on this occasion because they don’t fit your point of view ?
His dream move was to the premiership, his and his dad’s team are Everton, that’s a well known fact-to join spurs was of course a great move, but surely it wasn’t his ‘dream move’ unless we’re talking salaries now? You of al people are not falling for the old badge kissing and my boyhood club baloney?
Raz started the badge kissing. And the shirt over the head airplane celebration.
Are you feeling any better today Spurstacus ?
Do you give creedence to the player statements or not, you said it earlier but it doesn’t cut it now, you can’t have it both ways, which is it ?
I didn’t mention badge kissing you’ve convienently drifted off subject again.
His Dads dream move for him would have been Everton but the lad knows the score and clearly wanted to join a Club in the Premiership which he believed was going places. Don’t water down his move as second rate, he is clearly over the moon with it.
Yeah of course he’s the new messiah, everything great rolled into one and wouldn’t dare utter anything other than positive about the club he’s joined-silly me eh?
When you see the badge kissers and players talking about boyhood dreams, that is the equivalent of the manager getting a vote of confidence from the board.
Big Snowstorm, dig out and now work…..things you have to do to make a living…..
You should be so lucky Ron , you’re shovelling snow, think of Ade’s dad eh?
Snow?
I don’t want to think about Bale leaving, that’s going to be a sad day. We can talk about the money we’d get for him but if you’ve been watching the same club as me you’ll see that we’ve already spent insane amounts of money on players who didn’t fulfil their potential. Bent and Bentley are about £30m combined alone right?
I think Ade’s season is only just beginning! He’s a little sod and I too would of appreciated hearing more from him regarding the media fuelled “Striker Crisis” and “Fight for Fourth” It’d be great for him to address the fans as our only fit striker and give us all a boost by showing some confidence and awareness. I mean, I would! I’d be making comments such as,
“What striker crisis, I’m on my way back and I’m bringing the goals!”
But he is very very talented you’d have to of been in a coma to not have realised what he’s capable of. He’s about to step into a position where he’ll be the lone striker in front of our new and very exciting Holtby. I imagine that this scenario is suites him perfectly.
I don’t think Bent was that bad, and to be fair, he never got a sustained run in the team.
he was an awful footballer
HH – What you appear to be saying then is that AVB is a shit manager.
He has allowed this player to dawdle back to the club at 3pm the day before a game, you have kindly pointed out that mancini has got Yaya binks back pronto and had him talking to the press by Thursday a whole day earlier Is this because mancini is managing the situation better.
Was Ade back yesterday or not? it matters in that if he was back having facial or whatever to relax ready for todays training it makes the whole week of blogs pointless (Well not compared to LLL’s comments about a striker(Sorry)).
The facts as we know them have still not changed largely based on AVB’s comments and no one else appearing to know if Ade is back or not or whether he even intends to come back. There is therefore no evidence to suggest Ade has done anything wrong. The only evidence is that the club told him to come back today at 3pm
the only debate until someone confirms otherwise at 3pm today is why did spurs (AVB) allow him until 3pm today to come back and did they do the right thing
I don’t think H implied that AVB was a shit manager. I think he’s just (like a lot of us) frustrated by the lack of urgency to return to a game against tough opposition where we could really do with an actual striker and not play Dempsey out of position.
Besides I think Ade returned to London yesterday.
Sorry Brizzle I was being a bit sarcastic and reading between H’s own lines to come to a conlclusion just to make my point that I dont think there is a story in this yet.Evry one is reading between the lines
It appears AVB let the player come back today and thats what he feels was best to do Unless he is covering up an incident we just dont know.
If AVB felt that was the best way to manage the player he knows the situation better than us
If AVB is covering up ade beinga twat then i support al the slagging off and more but not until its a fact
I personally think HH can’t be bothered to think of anything else to write about. He’s managed to get 3 blogs out of a story which involves a player been given a couple of days off and taking them. That’s pretty good going.
btw my points about whether we should have bought a striker are not pointless because it seems I’ve been proven right beyond any need for further debate. Yes, we should have done that.
Proven right?
or
Seemed to be proven right?
I did say seems I’ve been proven right. Like I said, beyond any further need for debate. If you feel the need to debate it more now that we have no strikers available to field, that’s up to you guys. I’m out of this one.
How can you be proved right LLL, it’s still February and I thought the season ended in May?
See below. Proof seems quite apparent to me: no striker in the match day squad. Like I said, if there were no goalkeepers in our squad but Benny stepped in and managed to keep a clean sheet it wouldn’t disprove the notion that we probably should have bought a goalkeeper.
We were beating Everton after 90 mins were we not? and we lost..it’s not over till May in my book. tomorrows game won’t be decisive only a factor in the overall scheme of things!
I know and of course we might still get 4th, I just personally believe that we would have a better chance if we’d strengthened or at least backed up that position somewhat. We’ve had 3 windows to replace Pav, and we’ve failed. That’s as simple as I can put my complaint across.
Everyone and his dog understands that as I’ve said countless times-it’s finding the right bloke that’s been the issue-and my belief is AVB/Levy thought Leandro was that bloke.
But it’s not to be and they’ll have tp take what’s coming to them if it all goes tits up which we’ll all know about come May
Oh ffs man or woman it was never said that there was no need for a striker. but the picture was is and always will be bigger than your toys r us style demands for a new toy.
you possess neither the fact, inside information or any other information required to say you are right beyond doubt.
still if it makes you feel better in the simplistic view of the need to get a striker which no one disputed you were right
The fact I will repeat for you is that for 3 windows we’ve failed to replace Pavylychenko. If you’re on the side of the fence that thinks that’s a decent bit of recruitment business then fine, stay over there. I’m on the other side of the fence that believes that isn’t too great. All the stuff about toys r us etc is complete tosh. As is whether or not anyone said we don’t need a striker ( I’m literally NOT arguing that point except with the bloke who thinks we don’t need one because we have adequate cover – again, I feel otherwise.)
How can you be proven right before confirmation that Adebayor faces Newcastle? Just asking….
What proof?
The proof you are looking for comes at the cost of our position in the league.
We couldn’t field a striker last week, probably cant tomorrow. If this was the goal keeper position and we were putting Benny in goal would you be asking for proof that we should have bought a keeper?
That’s not the same thing and you know it.
The coach said we had adequate cover and technically we do with Dempsey and Kane (who scored a beauty against wet spam in the u21s)
with Ade returning (I heard he arrived in London yesterday) this week. So we could either buy another Saha or not. We picked not to and frankly I can’t fault that.
I can. Saha cost nothing, did score a handful of goals and did give us an option we don’t have this year. Dempsey isn’t a striker and Kane is a kid who couldn’t get into Norwich’s team (and they instead went and bought strikers who they obviously believe are better than him).
You still want proof, then fair enough. I hope we don’t see the ultimate proof, but I’ve seen enough to show me that we should’ve done something there.
He didn’t cost nothing we paid him good money every week.
‘Something’ Yeah I agree that ‘something’ may or may not have been either good or bad.
You can belittle them all you want but our Nextgen players have been scoring for fun lately and I’d love to see them play more for the 1st team. + Ade + Dempsey (who both scored on international duty) = adequate cover.
Ok mate, we have quite a different opinion on what constitutes adequate cover for a top 4 chasing team, it seems. Mostly every neutral would agree with me it seems, and a majority of Spurs fans too, but you are entitled to your opinion.
Siding with the masses has never been an indication of reality.
Look at the 3 teams above us and tell me you don’t notice a striking similarity. Tell me that you haven’t realised that these clubs can bankroll whatever transfers are necessary to guarantee success. We cannot guarantee success, we live in hope.
Like I said, 3 windows to replace Pav, still not done. At least last Jan they pulled in a temporary replacement. I think a club of our means, regardless of the riches of a handful of others, should have the capability to put together a balanced squad. Again, my opinion, but I think its backed up by the fact that every other squad in the league has more than 1 option in attack.
And what is this obsession with news stories?
This is a blog.
Look,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog
H is under no obligation to provide exclusives or the truth. H could blog about Bale being made entirely from pepperoni. It’s opinion based discussion and this constant battle for the truth and the moral high ground is becoming tedious.
Who is obsessed with news stories? If HH blogged 3 times in a week that Bale was made of linguine, yes its up to him and he’s perfectly entitled, but don’t you think we are entitled, by extension, to say, um, I’m not convinced that he is, moreover the repetition of it isn’t making it any more plausible. Are you one of those who would sooner see a comments section full of people saying, ‘oh, there’s something I didn’t know, Bale is made of linguine, the pasta faced bastard!’?
Ha! Absolutely not, no.
And yes you are entitled.
Go show us how it’s done then L. Make a blog and show me what you mean because I haven’t found a better place to talk Spurs online than here. Nowhere else is offering a fresh talking point everyday. Nothings really happening so what is there to blog about? Alternatively, you can comment on anything Spurs that you want to discuss right here in one of these comment boxes.
I don’t think it’s H’s fault that nothing significant has happened in the last 48 hrs and I’m bemused as to why he is the focal point of your attack.
Where’s the attack?
Don’t be difficult.
“I personally think HH can’t be bothered to think of anything else to write about. He’s managed to get 3 blogs out of a story which involves a player been given a couple of days off and taking them. That’s pretty good going.”
This is your 1st comment in this conversation and the reason we are having this discussion.
I think as attacks gk, accusing someone of possible mild laziness is pretty low on the scale. You seem quite protective of HH. He can look after himself, you know, he’s a big boy.
What, and miss out on a good argument?
@untidy 2.30
I might be wrong but my understanding is that this being an international week, the first team squad were given an extra day off because several players (EG Dempsey, Benny) were unlikely to arrive before early evening Thurs.
You might well be the wisest man here .
AdebaYaaawn didn’t upset the goons much when he left, man shitty took a several million quid hit and are paying around £100,000 a week not to have him at their club; all the signs were there. Taking him on because of one decent season was a mistake. I don’t like the man at all, he’s arrogant and without care for the fans, squad mates, club and business he takes so much from. He can’t leave soon enough. He’s dead to me.
On a chirpier note, this is how to respond to a bad foul, Gareth Bale are you watching:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XRPrrLdPhoE
Ha! I caught this earlier great vid.
Tough game tomorrow and we could do with an on form Ade, remember the game at WHL when he starred in the 5-0 win ?
I am going to stick my neck out, and predict that we will finish third, and we will be singing ade’s praises before the end of the year.
The FA have got to be taking the piss, £12k for an outburst like that against an official, what about bringing the game into disrepute, this is a ridiculous punishment, why bother.
Sam Allerdice was fined £8k for questioning a Penalty decision, a mere matter of opinion yet SAF only gets a £12k fine for accusing the Linesman of Deliberate Bias against Man Utd, why are the FA so bloody weak, he should have been banished to the DB for a month.
LLL, you are a one.
I’m perfectly entitled to say that I want that pilchard Adebayor ready for Toon, no excuses. I am allowed to say that. I 100% am.
Last game for Ade was Sunday. So I say get your boney overpaid arse on a plane ASAP, so you can earn your corn.
Is that such a campaign of hate?
If it happens, I’ll be genuinely delighted. As I was when we signed him.
Yes, you are entitled. Well. Not so much as his employers, who have expressed publicly no issue or problem over his arrival time. Just weird that you have ran 3 blogs on complaints which don’t seem to have any tangible substance, but you are, as you say, entitled to do that.
Employers? What do you know about employers? :)
Do people just come here to have a moan?
No we bloody don’t. I can’t stand it when people claim things like that. Cheek!
International week, mate… the locals always get a bit restless, that’s all…
Yes, it’s a fuckin’ bitchfest.
Put the handbag down…
And yes Billy… your Arse does look big in that!
Nice though-ike big butts
I’m *sniff* big boned
Whoremoans?
Got the painters & decorators in
David Ike?
Can anyone confirm Ade got his ass to training at 3 o’clock? Which is what AVB publically stated was his expectation. I’m not great at this time zone stuff, but it seems to be past 1600 now.
I can confirm that Sky are reporting Ade is back and training with the squad, they cannot confirm his fitness for tomorrows game.
Source Sky Sports News @16:47pm GMT.
Hip-hip-hoo-fuckin’-ray…
It’s a secret.
Jasper’s new Spurs Lodge rules:
late back from international games: that’s a paddlin’…
grow a comedy afro for charity: that’s a paddlin’…
more tattoos than skin: that’s a paddlin’…
whoopie cushion in Steffen’s lederhosen (again): that’s a paddlin’…
I think this is a good example of how intelligently AVB conducts himself with the media, in direct comparison to his predecessor. There may be a story, there may not, as yet, we can only summise, but AVB has kept a lid on it and not really hinted too far either way……….i.e he’s been a professional unlike HR was way too often in similar situations.
LLL: Re HH’s 3 blog/same story thing…………as I see it, it is (the byline) simply a starting point and the posters then take the reins and run in one of many possible directions. I have never seen any warnings from H to get back on topic. E.g you have returned to the striker/no striker debate which is off topic, but that is your perogative and it still has some mileage, but you have not been asked to come back on topic.
I’m not licking H’s botty and he can be a cad at times, but in this instance, I think you have got it wrong. Simply, if you think the starting point is pants/boring/same as y/day’s then simply drag it in another direction, you always manage to spark a debate bless you, so no harm, no foul.
Spurs 3 Newcs 1
Er.. Yeah, I think I didn’t say anything different, merely said it was a bollocks story and the only reason I can come up with him running it 3 times is a lack of much else to talk about. At no point did I say that he told us all to only discuss it, nor agree with him, and my striker revisit was in response to someone directly commenting on my posts about it.
So, in summary, I don’t really understand what you’re saying to me, nor why you are saying it!
Licky licky licky.
Slurpy slurpy slurpy.
Headline HH? what have you got against Brussel Sprouts? Is nothing safe from your bile?
Me no understandy.
Me no like Brussel Sprouty
istort:
Is that some cryptic cockernee rhyming slang?
Brussel Sprouty
Harold Trouty
Both exude a ridiculous amount of noxious gases.
*Ppppffffffffrupt*
That don’t ‘alf pen & ink……………..

Not to decry Gazza, but that is one over-hyped piece of crap he has written.
You get the strong impression that he was sufferring writers block, and Gazza being flavour of the week, Mr White is desperately looking to find something new to say about Gazza.
when are we gonna see theboyelelelblog,
