Spurs should have scored more goals

23 shots and only 9 were on target.

I bet the rest of our Group will be having trouble sleeping.

Another big possession small achievement game

Averaging 65% of the ball, what did with we do with it?

Well, according to this graph, we scored twice and then thought about falling asleep in front of a nice fire.

Eriksen had a stinker

Not even Aurier could lose possession as consistently as our great Dane.

Anyone would think we were rushing him back from injury because the squad was down to its bare bones, eh?

We know who the fighters are

One of my favourite stats is recoveries.

These men are the ones you want to go into battle with.

They take no prisoners and leave nobody behind.

Alderweireld, Winks, and Sanchez are the pick of the platoon.

Moura & Aurier need coaching

Challenges show us who is working hard, opposed to waiting to be passed to.

Moura and Aurier are grafters but the net achievement from both is routinely questionable.

Poch, get on it, son.

  • Aside from cerebrospinal fluid, what's on your mind?

  • SpursGoliath November 9, 2018 at 9:32 am

The problem with Eriksen is he looked bog awful before this latest injury…and yet put in a couple of barn stormers in international games.

Something’s up with him beyond his injury (injuries?)

    • Accy November 9, 2018 at 9:34 am

      Still carrying stomach injury apparently

      • SpursGoliath November 9, 2018 at 9:42 am

When’s the last time he played really well for Spurs though? My mind is going foggy just trying to think back that far…

    Via BBC website:

Tottenham have been warned by an advertising watchdog after a promotion which claimed their new stadium would be the “only place in London” to watch Champions League football this season.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has sent the club an advice notice and told them to avoid making claims they cannot fulfil.

    F a r c k i n g embarrassing.

Imagine if we were on the points the quality of our footie so far this season really merited. Poch and the players continue to protect Levy from all he is due. He must thank God twice a day and three times on Fridays. Getting away with it doesn’t even begin to describe..

    • paul November 9, 2018 at 7:40 am

I might file a complaint about our club motto vis a vis Enic and the last 18 years

    • Only Me. November 9, 2018 at 10:03 am

To be clear – one of the “TWO” complaints was an Arsenal fan.

      • paul November 9, 2018 at 3:17 pm

Irrelevant. The advertising STANDARDS authority saw the merit in the complaint and fired off a warning. Quite rightly too imho and that’s before we get into the whole mis-selling of ST’s for this season.

        • Harry Hotspur November 9, 2018 at 3:24 pm

Which is yet to properly hit the headlines.

Be fascinated to hear from a single ST holder who is happy with having apply for part refunds and repurchase seats at inflated prices…

C’mon the borough tomorrow. (Haringey vs Wimbledon) fA cup tomorrow. Expecting 2.5k full house. Apparently Haringey borough fc are in talks with TOTTENHAM fc. about TOTTENHAM ladies playing at bowes park. Good idea.

  • Billy the yid November 8, 2018 at 5:20 pm

See there’s a brilliant allocation for the goons again. They are pathetic

  • PlayitagainSamways November 8, 2018 at 1:34 pm

Im still in shock that Winks carried the entire midfield in our game.

It would be good if he turned into a boss because he’s got the skill.

Mata’s free kick was sexy but Juve arent the great team everyone is making out.

  • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? November 7, 2018 at 11:33 pm

If anyone can watch the highlights of Juve v Man utd and say football is on the level then…..well… I don’t know. I just don’t know.

    • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? November 7, 2018 at 11:36 pm

Before I watched it I said guarantee one at least of Utd goals is from set piece. Voila.

  • East Stand November 7, 2018 at 11:04 pm

It might be worth sticking a few quid on Manure for the Champions League. Maureen is able to get these grind out wins in big games and has a great managerial record in that competition.
Can’t stand the bloke but I can see them winning it…

    • dilly November 8, 2018 at 12:11 am

Demolishing every side in their wake surely hot money is on Citeh to finally lift the prized trophy? It’s the Mancunian derby next!

  • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? November 7, 2018 at 10:53 pm

Haaaaaa you have to watch the City goals. There’s something that’s encapsulates modern football and the career of Rahim Sterling with absolute crystalline perfection.
Sterling is through on goal, instead of shooting he kicks the ground like the flump he is and falls flat on his stupid face………….and the ref gives him a penalty. Gimp. But worth canonising.

    • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? November 7, 2018 at 10:58 pm

Sterlings sponsers obviously had a word with Donetsk at h/t cos they let him run through and score after halftime to try and take the attention off, then later a great tackle by the Ukraine teams defender ignored and a penalty awarded again. Waste of time them travelling really.

  • East Stand November 7, 2018 at 10:46 pm

Lumping Aurier and Moura together after their respective performances in that game is boardering disingenuous.

    Aurier was utter garbage…

    • dilly November 8, 2018 at 12:14 am

As if Ben Davies is any better!!

      • dilly November 8, 2018 at 12:20 am

Unless I am mistaken we bought him on the strength of his defensive and attacking displays for the Swans which surprisingly has regressed ever since!!

      • East Stand November 8, 2018 at 8:56 am

Nobody could ever be as bad as Aurier was last night.

Also Davies while not being very good this season doesn’t have a record of giving away pens and found illegal throw ins. Davies is a safer option out of the two but neither are really good enough.

Aurier has an element of comedy about him he’s so all over the place.

        • East Stand November 8, 2018 at 8:57 am

          The other night rather…

  • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? November 7, 2018 at 9:56 pm

Bollx. What happened? On the website I’ve got it said Shaktar scored in injury time then took it off. That would av won me 2 goal rushes in a night. A holes. 1 will av to suffice.

  • dilly November 7, 2018 at 9:44 pm

Heh ho: Citeh have scored a 5th against a despirited Donestsk side. Not the first and wont be the last to be swept aside by this all conquering well oiled machine

    • dilly November 7, 2018 at 9:49 pm

Silencing the home crowd Juventus 1 v Manure 2 (A Young)

      • dilly November 7, 2018 at 9:50 pm

    • East Stand November 7, 2018 at 10:47 pm

Unlike ‘super duper Liverpool’ who got their pants pulled down by the worst team in the competition…

  • MrChickenHead November 7, 2018 at 9:25 pm

    Wow what a goal, CR7

  • Accy November 7, 2018 at 9:03 pm

    PlayitagainSamways
It was an Aurier shaped hole that lead to the corner we conceded from. Total lack of concentration in the first frigging minute. Eriksen had to tell him he should be filling in the right back position during one of PSVs attacks. Jesus. PSVs right back played well, he was called Dumfris or some similar sounding Scottish town.

He’s definitely not the brightest of sparks. Letting the deflected ball run for a corner I’ve never seen before.

    • East Stand November 7, 2018 at 10:49 pm

His throw ins are illegal but let’s not bring that up too… oh I just did, sorry.

  • MrChickenHead November 7, 2018 at 8:56 pm

Serge is the new BAE with less skill, the nutty was pretty good though.

    • East Stand November 7, 2018 at 10:53 pm

I suspected Aurier had a screw loose from his PSG highlights reel. I’ve seen nothing to contradict that from him thus far.

More Eurotrash served up by the weird baldy man…

      • MrChickenHead November 8, 2018 at 9:15 am

        True Dat.

  • dilly November 7, 2018 at 6:33 pm

Whilst we probably witnessed his finest performance ever against Manure I am persevering with Moura who along with Harry Winks were our better performers last night!

    • East Stand November 7, 2018 at 10:50 pm

I agree with this Mr Dingleberry.

  • PlayitagainSamways November 7, 2018 at 6:32 pm

We started playing well at this stage last season if my memory serves me right?

  • PlayitagainSamways November 7, 2018 at 6:30 pm

    • dilly November 7, 2018 at 6:34 pm

Aurier is eve worse than Sissoko and thats saying something!

      • dilly November 7, 2018 at 6:35 pm

Struggling (Aurier) controlling a ball and delivering a cross apart from that he is fine!

    • mattspurs November 7, 2018 at 6:35 pm

Aurier played a silly 1-2 on the halfway line that was never there but just kept on running. Much of his play was simply idiotic. Why KWP isn’t playing ahead of him I really can’t understand.

      • dilly November 7, 2018 at 6:36 pm

Agreed. Blame Poch on this occasion!

        • dilly November 7, 2018 at 6:38 pm

Skipp should also have been selected ahead of Eriksen me thinks?

          • dilly November 7, 2018 at 6:39 pm

or at least hauled off at HT replaced him at the start of the second half.

        • Mattspurs November 7, 2018 at 7:50 pm

Aurier is a grown man and a footballer of apparent pedigree. Last night he was either stupid, uninterested, lazy or lost. Not sure what Poch has got to do with it?

          • East Stand November 7, 2018 at 10:56 pm

The guy is just a nutter, that’s all there is to it. If he wasn’t a professional footballer he’d be known as the village idiot…

      • Daveyboi November 7, 2018 at 8:25 pm

Aurier is an absolute clown, utterly clueless and a liability at all times.

        • East Stand November 7, 2018 at 10:58 pm

Is it three pens he’s given away already since he’s been here Considering he plays about once a month that’s fairly impressive.

          Doesn’t like bum boys either…

  • Andrew November 7, 2018 at 6:08 pm

The reason Winks, Sanchez and Alderweireld had the most recoveries is because PSV parked the bus and every time they cleared it, the ball went straight to one of our CBs or the DM, with no PSV attacking players around them. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of those three players, but that stat has absolutely nothing to do with grafting.

    • East Stand November 7, 2018 at 11:06 pm

Spot on, stats don’t tell the whole story. The complexity of the game is absent when looking at numbers.

Aurier was unworthy of the shirt…

  • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? November 7, 2018 at 6:06 pm

There’s people who actually think we are going to win at Camp Nou and qualify. Last nights comeback was the worst thing we could av done. Europa League, this season AND next. Holy cow.

    • dilly November 7, 2018 at 6:18 pm

Talk about a laboured victory IMO Citeh would have punished that lot last night with their second string side!!!

      • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? November 7, 2018 at 6:29 pm

They aren’t the best side. A draw would av done. Save face without the Booby prize.

    • Mattspurs November 7, 2018 at 7:41 pm

Bit of a poor life philosophy? But I guess in the end it’s the hope that kills you?

      • Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack? November 7, 2018 at 9:57 pm

It certainly killed me to an extent.

  • dilly November 7, 2018 at 5:16 pm

My biggest gripes are reserved to last nights woeful full backs namely Aurier and Ben Davies respectively!

    • dilly November 7, 2018 at 5:17 pm

When will it dawn on Poch that both should be sold in the summer.

      • MiT November 8, 2018 at 6:45 pm

        Greetings, dilly.

Spurs defensive face could change massively over January and summer windows.

Alderweireld – up in the air.
Vertonghen – only signed through June. Injured until almost Christmas. Age 31.

Danny Rose – can he stay healthy ? can he stay happy ? (most bets are on NO)

Davies – has regressed a bit, but is also played out of his comfort zone.

Trippier – erratic. Wonderful or scatterbrained, defensively needs a bit more to his game.

Aurier – honestly have no idea where he or his ceiling is. he is an odd call.

Dembele – similar to Vertonghen. injured til 15 January. Free in July. Age 31

This leaves Dier as a forced mainstay, KWP as a hope/prayer, Sanchez as the anchor, and Winks as much more involved.

        interesting windows upcoming.
