£13M World Cup Winning Hunk With No Sell-On Value

By The Boy -

The Ham & Highway among many are reporting that Matteo Musacchio has suffered a very serious injury fracturing his fibula and dislocated his left ankle. Kyle Walker has told police that he was “at home playing with me Stickle Bricks” at the time.

Musacchio was a player heavily linked with a move to Spurs and one we had enquired about, but it was a deal we couldn’t make happen.

The player himself revealed back in September of last year that Tottenham’s offer didn’t pass muster.

When you get offers they have to be good for the club and for the player. In this case it wasn’t good enough for either, so in the end it didn’t happen and I’m carrying on here.”

A month before this, it was blogged that the situation was complicated by the 24 year old’s agent Marcelo Lombilla not only being a part owner of the Argentinian, but he’d actually been involved in part financing Villarreal’s purchase of Musacchio.

Now, you could say, well fair enough, no wonder Spurs couldn’t get a signature, but I wonder what specifically caused the deal to fall down? The player was widely quoted as being worth £17million, which in the scheme of things is hardly extravagant.

Could it have possibly been another instance of us wanting to inflict yet another laborious payment plan that would see the last instalment paid shortly after the intended recipients died of old age?

“Tottenham Hotspur defender DeAndre Yedlin has been called up by the USA to face Mexico on Thursday morning after making his Spurs debut against Aston Villa on Saturday”, say the Haringey Independent.

A strange way to report it, as if the two things were related. Yedlin played 11 minutes.

Or maybe it’s true, and perhaps László Bíró’s invention of the ballpoint pen was the cause of the Second World War.

Benedikt Howedes is supposedly a THFC target. Schalke 04 chief Clemens Toennies told Sport1:

I am very close to Benedikt Howedes and if there was anything in it, then I would be the first to know about it. I won’t assume that anything has been agreed.”

The 27 year old would probably be a perfect fit for Spurs. But not for Levy & Co’s spreadsheets. I mean, what’s the point in shelling out £13million on a World Cup winning beefcake, when there is no sell-on value?

Precisely the sort of player that would provide Hugo Lloris with some real protection, and help put an end to our back four looking like extras from Are You Being Served?
