11 O’Clocker Man Utd Deal In Place

By The Boy -

Dumb Dumb could be on his way out of Tottenham.

Danny Rose may be worth a small fortune on the open market, but the value of his stock with Pochettino plummeted the moment the prat took to the back page of The Sun.

Rose had a good thing going at Spurs and he’s done his level best to throw it all away.

I addressed our back four situation recently:

Pochettino is now looking at a rather profound period of restructuring.

Does he reinvent our backline as ‘a traditional 4’, which will have to be stout, but lacking in pace, or does he instead opt for ‘a 3’? I would suggest that the Poch more obviously has the player resources for ‘a 3’, and that ‘a 4’ would merely render us as flat and insipid looking.

As pertinently, it must be factored in here that up until now, Pochettino has not used wingers. He’s almost made a point of not using them. The last wingers we had on the books are now playing for different clubs.

Neither Walker-Peters or Trippier have the pace to replicate Bonzo – but more importantly it must be noted that they were never intended to be used as such. It ought be added here that Ben Davies is a deeply misunderstood player, and thick people deeming him ‘not fast enough’ are completely missing the point, as is thick people’s wont, of course.

Manchester United have now spoken to Rose and a deal is apparently being structured/thrashed out.  However, this would be entirely dependent upon Spurs signing Sessegnon from Fulham.

For me this is not just good, it’s exciting.

That’s twice I’ve claimed to be excited about this window in the space of two blogs. I think the Doc bungled it last week and my blood pressure wasn’t down, it was falling because I’m on my way out.

Poch cannot afford to sit still. With Bonzo gone we have an inherent imbalance in the back four and the successful signature of Serge Aurier today does not address it. If anything it points to a fresh direction.

Had you asked me if flogging Rose AND Bonzo this window was a good idea a few months ago, I would have been fascinated to know what the plan was to replace them.

Fingers crossed this is the plan.

It looks like a very good plan.

Levy’s on course to sell 50% of the best defence we’ve had in years and I think he’s doing a good job. I definitely need a second opinion.
